I got my hands on the new Diadem Warrior Edge. We put this thing through the wringer and hopefully answered a lot of questions. I loved this paddle and it hurt a lil, lmao.
Diadem, if you’re watching, send me another. I miss it lol
Just a reminder, the legal limits of roughness on a paddle are 30.00 micrometers or less Rz and 40.00 micrometers or less Rt.

Great video! Did you do the regular warrior? The construction is very different than the edge. This seems to be a traditional honeycomb

You are correct. There original Warrior had three layers if I’m recall. I did not review the Warrior. I may in the future but there is a long list of paddles to get through.

Could you do some sort of rub or scrape test on the surface face? Trying to simulate playing with a paddle to determine how quickly a paddle loses some of the grit or tackyness. The Diadem paddles are rumored to lose the grit fairly quickly and I would find this interesting in comparing paddles. Thanks!

Losing Textured Grit, yes. However, these RAW Carbon Fiber faced paddles have nothing to scrape off. The peaks and valleys of the surface are all physically part of the surface and not an add on/spray on afterthought. At worse you might be able to round out the peaks and valleys over time via blunt force, but it’s not scratching off.

Great video! I’d like to know how other paddles withstand the weight testing. I appreciate you destroying the paddle. I’ve never seen one dismantled like that. And yet another paddle that fails the roughness test.

Yeah it hurts a little. I liked that paddle. It seemed to punch above it’s weight class. Hopefully my explanation on the testing methods helped too

If your measurements are correct the paddle is over legal limit by .1 inch

That’s a good call out. I’m using a caliper obviously, and I had it snug on there. Wow. Good call out there. I need someone else to measure theirs, since mine is no longer measurable lol 😆

@@pbjpickleball you're doing a great job! I love all the new tools you are using to measure and test all aspects of the paddle. Too many paddle manufacturers are pushing that fine line with no consequences.

@@BL-nice completely agree! Thanks for the comments. Now I’m going to be much more cognizant of my measurements to make sure they pass. Unfortunately I have zero confidence in USAPA’s approval stamp if we are easily able to find these out-of-spec points.

Jeremy Jønes fyi you are still not using the correct USAP angles note! Probably best to use the proper angles then your results have more credibility. Your 2 angles should be 45° and 225° :) thanks.

Noted, so the numbers would have been probably higher then. The Rz and Rt values are usually highest in those directions. I’ll keep using both methods in my videos going forward; Clock vs Compass.

Thanks. It sounded good in my editing but when uploaded to RU-vid it did degrade. Since then I’ve leveled that out more, so later videos should exhibit the same problem.
