he was a Nobody & kiss gave him an oppurtunity but he couldnt handle it. KISS had a lagacy by that time & just needed a lead guitarist, they would have survived without Vinnie. Bruce could have filled the spot or any number of Guitarists. Vinnie had some good songs to bring to the table. But KISS were a mammoth band that already had a legacy. Sure it would be different without Vinnie, but he didnt save them.

@@97warlock Vinnie wrote 6 of the 9 songs on Lick It Up. Including the title hit Lick It Up. That sounds like saving them to me. Not saying he deserves 100% of the credit, but he sure as hell helped resurrect them!!

That is BS, KISS was kiss, had Paul and Gene and a well marketing structure and huge fan base, he contribute to kiss as any good guitarist should… but he did not save kiss .. that is such a cool statement from vinnie fanboys

@WAYNE FG Dynasty is one of the best selling KISS albums, Creatures and Lick it Up were great records but werent selling great either. KISS came back with Animalize, now that album sold good again. Crazy Nights, Hot in the Shade and Revenge all had hit singles, 1 US top 10 and 2 in the UK. Vinnie havent done nothing since ASG, 31 years ago.

LOFL Vinnie couldn't save himself let alone an established band like "KISS" who may have had there ups & downs but in all fairness Vinnie did help cowrite some good songs and due to a tour that was booked & pressed for time they hired Vinnie out of pure desperation and up until that point ge had them convinced he was a team player but his true colors ecentually came out.. If Vinnie was as talented as some peoplw make him out to be we woild have a dozen releases by now but but as history shows Vinnie hasn't done jack shit in the last 30+years. If he was a true artist ge would have been musically active. By the looks of him its evidently clear he has addiction issues & vased on his physical appearance its obvious he has no reguard for his health which says he is a weak man or whatever he identifies as?

I was/am both a huge fan of KISS and Vinnie Vincent's music. However, I was VERY poor at the time. I lived in a rented room and found the vinnie site while borrowing some AOL time over at a friend's apartment because I couldn't afford internet. note: why would I be spending $150 when I clearly didn't have it and could live without a VV boxset? I'm an idiot. So I downloaded the order form, wrote a personal check for the purchase and sent it in. (My favorite part was that you could choose if you wanted a "glossy" cover or a "matter" cover to the box. WHY?!?!?) It never came and never came and never came. About a year later, things were going better for me. I had a better job, had my own place and my own internet. (Yay PORN!) I began hounding Vinnie for my money. I would send emails and letters constantly asking that I get either the boxset or my money back. Eventually I received this letter in the mail with all kinds of pages of meandering crap. It was clear that whomever had written it was trying to make it sound as if there was an actual record company with an actual staff of employees behind the Metaluna name...but the writing is so poor that I'm pretty sure it was just Vinnie in whatever home office he had pretending he was still a big shot. It wasn't too long after that I found the Kissasylum forums. I told my story there and found a few others that had been ripped off. I also found that Vinnie had pretty much squandered all his money and Metaluna didn't really exist anymore. (If it ever really did.) I gave up on my dream to ever see my $150 back in my bank account or to be hearing the boxset. (I would still prefer to have the boxset!) Enclosed (hopefully) is a PDF of the letter and all the contents. Sorry about the quality. Took the pictures with my iPhone...

My friend and I saw Vinnie after a show many years ago. I will never forget how gracious you were to us. Thank you, Vinnie and good luck in your new era.

Marty White he said he only got paid $550 a week? Lol.. if memory serves me right vinnie was paid similar to Eric Carr, high 6 figures, plus he was paid royalties on the songs he co-wrote. I went yesterday and looked up some old clips of vinnie giving interviews just to make sure my memory was correct. My memory was correct, vinnie has always talked and acted like he is in this and other current videos. I don't know if it's ever been established if he is gay or not but I do notice he is never asked if he is married or has any kids.

No one has challenged him on that. Things I saw on fansites a few years ago put Eric at 3500 a week and Vinnie at 2k a week. Then after Creatures flopped they both lost half of that. Who knows. But that sounds more realistic than what Vinnie says.

Hey Marty, thanks for that Info. I never knew Vinnie had kids or was married, I kind of just figured he probably had kids but wasn't sure if he was gay or not. I was just reading that someone got from an old interview with Bill Aucoin that Eric was paid $100k A year when he first joined the band. Which doesn't sound like a lot now but back in 1980 that was pretty good money. I cannot seem to find anything about how much he was making towards the end of his tragically cut short life. But if Vinnie was in KISS and accepting $550 a week, he was a darn fool, perhaps mentally retarded! I did read that KISS supposedly did cut in half Eric;s salary during the Lick it up period because KISS was not selling out stadiums any longer. But like you said, who knows. If KISS was severely underpaying him Im sure by the mid 80's Eric could have easily joined another more lucrative band but he didn't, so Im gonna guess that Eric was being paid enough that made him happy.

Not the 550 Vinnie claimed to have made. You’re right that in the early 80s that was a lot of money. I ran an inflation calculator a bit ago. The buying power was more like 200k.
