I'll bet most of you didn't even notice this! Watch the video and find out what I'm talking about. Did you notice?
I also received my Airwolf remote oil filter kit for the Lycoming engine. Once I install this I should be able to mount the engine on the airplane.

I’ve built a lot of home booths. You want to do positive pressure, you want your air moving from high to low to get the excess material on the ground. You’ll also want a quick swap floor covering as the overspray will create dust. Orange peel is from your gun setup.

Mark just a sugestion put the inlet filter on the roof of the paint booth it will create a down draft for the overspray as it is drawn out the exit filters on the floor

Nice upgrade on the paint booth. You will enjoy that for many moons. The oil filter kit looks very professional. Thanks for sharing with us.

Make sure that your garage electrical will support the load you will be pulling with fans, compressor etc. sometimes all of those plugs are on one circuit and it would not be good to have a breaker trip right in the middle of painting.

At work we have issues with squirrel cage fans clogging up. The blades look OK until you scratch them with a wire brush and find the concave side of the blades are filled with dust. That may be why your fan isn't pulling air, be cause the paint droplets and fine dust have filled in the concave portion of the blades. Also at home the fan that I use, needed a larger gauge extension cord, it pulled so much current there was a voltage drop to the fan.

A tip for the hose, don't hold it in your left hand put it over your right shoulder, behind your neck and then back over your left should and under you arm now the weight is supported and the hose will not hit the work. Well that is what I did when spraying cars, and allows you to use your left hand to do what ever you want.

Hello Mark from Sydney Australia. PAINT BOOTH Just thought I'd mention: you'd want the overspray particulate through a filter wall at the garage door end? Watch you don't overspray the bottom edge and opening of the garage door, cover with plastic. 🌏🇭🇲

It seems to me you could make connections on the paint booth so it could be disassembled in no more than five sections. Then you could just lay it against the wall when you are not using it. A simple drop in connection at each corner would do it. The hard part would be to manipulate it with one person. That could be handled by throwing a lifting rope (mechanism) over each of the garage door tracks. Disassemble or reassembly would take only a few minutes. Others here have made some recommendations that are really good. The first "car" I painted in 1958 was a soap box derby car. I thought I was pretty good at painting by the time I (along with friends) did our first automobiles at 15 1/2. We painted in an old garage and knew nothing about it. There were no plastic tarps in those days. It was a horrible mess but we learned :-) Something tells me you will want to repaint part of the Super Duty as well. It looks beautiful from what you can see.

Enjoy your videos have watched every one from the begining of the channel. Tip on the paint booth. Mount your air inlet filters high en the back of the booth and the exhaust fan low in the front, Pulls the over spray cloud down and out. I see u still have the Pitts are U still going to move South?

@@KitplaneEnthusiast I've lived in the lower Great Lakes region, mid latitude climates and upper south climates. As long as you are young and can stand the winters, the south has little to offer, IMO. Later, when you are much older, you might not tolerate long cold winters, then the south is OK. However, in the south the summers are hot and muggy, and long (like 6 months). The best, IMO, is a place where the seasons are equal in length, and the humidity in the summer is not high, and not crowded. Please leave me a note with the name of that place, because I would like to move there! 😁

Hi Mark. How will you handle your compressor and hose as they are in the hangar?
@KitplaneEnthusiast
@KitplaneEnthusiast Год назад
My hose is right at the doorway between the garage and hangar. It will reach the new booth just fine.

My understanding is that High Volume Low Pressure painting systems produce superior results with minimal overspray. Have I been misinformed?
@KitplaneEnthusiast
@KitplaneEnthusiast Год назад
Based on my experience, yes you’re misinformed lol. All I use is HVLP and they all produce a massive amount of overspray!

How about a Zenith 650 for your next build?

That’s actually my #1 choice but not as it currently is designed. I would want 150hp and shorter wings. It needs to compete with the RV’s. And, it has to be the tail dragger version!

Hey Mark, your thoughts and videos on painting have been so much help with my Rans S-21. Here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-esm7jT5sxaM.html is the video of my paint booth that you inspired in some ways. I hope you find something that helps you, the exhaust fan would be the perfect fit your new booth. Let me know what you think!

No need to filter air coming in to your booth. The less restrictions coming in, the better. Your exhaust fan will cause low air pressure in the booth causing high velocity air as it’s sucked in through every crack and crevice, stirring up dust. Filter the air going into your exhaust fan, protecting it from paint buildup. The ideal setup is to blow air into your booth. That way, positive pressure will blow dust and paint particles out of all cracks and crevices and prevent it from sucking dust in and onto your paint job. Filter the air going out, to protect the environment and diffuse the air coming through the fan to prevent high velocity air inside the booth. That’s the system Mercedes uses in Alabama to keep red clay dust out of their paint jobs.

After painting several airplanes , I use several furnace air filters (6-8) the cheap filters. If you don't filter the incoming air you will have curious insects landing i your wet paint.
