As always, great video. I admire the fact you find time to film all these while doing your job. I feel I could almost do what you're doing following your detailed presentations. Cheers!
Hi Andy, i can grab my nearside driveshaft and move it up and down in the box, feels like the bearing in the box is gone. I see others with the same massive movment in the box, what do you think? So if you grab the cup the spider bearing sits in and move it up and down you can see the play in the box. Cheers manual mondeo tdci 2.0 mk5
Hi Alan. Great video on the gearbox seal 😆 Can't believe it I saw my first Steve's taxi today on the A1198 near Papworth lol 😂 I'm at the Cambridge university veterinary hospital off the A1303 with a mobile MRI scanner in my lorry watching this video on a apple 🍎 iPad hehe 😂 Cheers Stevie
Alan Howatt. Morning Alan. That’s a fantastic offer and I’ll take you up on that next time I’m at the vet college 😄 Keep the entertaining and very informative mondingo videos up 👍🏻 See ya Stevie 😎
Hi alan, my car went in for a service and the drive shaft seals are misting, im guessing this is the issue i have fors want 300 quid for the job would you say thays a fair price?, other than that my car is spot in thank god, for
Very true about carefully reinserting the drive shaft as the inner black seal is a simmering, which is a black rubber sleeve with a spring bracelet wrapped around it, if that spring bracelet accidentally comes off, you'll have to buy a new seal as there's no way in hell it'll sit back in place! .. don't ask me how I know 😖 Edit: That spring can be seen ignited @12:56
If you don't have this special tool: I managed to remove the oil seal by using a big screwdriver on the outer metal edge of the seal and beat it toward its middle until it bend and squeezed together. Then I prised it out.
Hello Mr. Alan. I plan to buy a 2018 Ford Mondeo 2.0 tdci Powershift 2018. I have a question ... since the Mondeo that I am planning to buy is manufactured in 2018 and has been in storage for over 18 months, could this be a hindrance in terms of proper functioning? And do I need to ask the dealer to first servicie the car, in terms of replacing the engine oil and oil filter as well as eventually the battery? Thank you very much...and greetings from Prishtina - Republic of Kosovo
Good morning Alan! I have a question for you about the Mondeo MK5 with 1.5 TDCI engine. Your videos show that you mainly service a Mondeo with a 2.0 TDCI engine. Have you ever serviced a Mondeo or another Ford model with a 1.5 TDCI engine? Can you say something about this engine? Is this unit also recommended and durable as 2.0 TDCI, or is there anything to fear about it? There are opinions on the internet about a broken timing belt at a mileage below 100 miles or a broken head gasket? I will be grateful for all your opinions! Happy days!
hi. i would avoid the 1.5 engines, firstly they are noticeably underpowered and the few that i have had dealings with have had head gasket problems.. i don't think much to them. i would get a 2litre..there may be parts that will require replacement but the engines themselves are pretty nippy and and almost bullet proof
@@alan4x Thank you very much for your answer! It turns out that it is better to be interested in the 2l engine. When there will be time to replacing parts, it always remains to follow your channel :) Greetings from Poland!
That looks even worse than having to remove a motorcycle fork oil seal, the normal method for those is to screw a large "self scraping chew" into the seal and to use a claw hammer to pull it out :) I always give everything a coating of grease for protection when dealing with seals. You should have done this at xmas and had Monica show you how to use an old Turkey baster to refill the gearbox :) When your wife complains about the smell of gear oil and demands to wash them, you tell her to wash them on their own, she ignores the advice for everything in that load LOL The difference between a normal PC and Apple is if you want them or you to decide the specifications of it :)
2 points I'd like to add.... 1. Real work is done on pc s. Apple is for play. 2. Why is it that even with synthetic versions of gear oil it still stinks of rotting vegetables???
Love your vids Alan... own a 5 series so none of your content relevant to me but love watching you. Only..... please please ditch the fake laugh add ins... please!!!! They are Wrecking my head now!!!! Spoil your videos.
