Hello, this time around I am repairing Digidesign 002 rack unit. This is a very common problem amongst these units. the culprit is the power harness cable, It gets dirty overtime.
Thank you for posting this. I tried it just unplugging & replugging the 3 connectors, and so far it seems to have fixed the issue. Really appreciate it!
@@descargamusicalny I thought I was on my way to find the non-existent Digi repair shop to ship it to, only for them to tell me that it's "legacy" hardware and can't be serviced anymore. Instead, thanks to you last night, today I went and got some CRC (Home Depot didn't carry Deoxit) and tonight - I started my PT session!
Does any of you guys had this problem: the unit 'works' - all the LEDs work as usual at the beginning. Also, firewire LED on the back. And then you heard little clicks (just like when you power on the unit) and it goes offline - only the red LED on mute is still on and the fire wire LED on the back is turned off too. And then the unit turns on again work for a few seconds and then the circle starts again? I'll be grateful for any suggestions. Thanx, a ton in the advance.
Thank you so much for the video. I did the exact same procedure and was not successful. All lights blink at once on the front randomly. Any advice would be amazing please

Nice video, thanks. I have a 002 desk. For some reason it has stopped producing an audio through the monitors or headphones. It's also not recording. My mac and protools free recognise it but in the audio settings on the mac the channels are greyed out. Would you have any idea what this might be? Thanks.
Did you recently update mac os? Maybe there is an issue with the drivers. I actually dont own a digi002 system anymore. I fixed the one in the video for someone else. Have you tried the 002 with any other DAW like garageband?
@@descargamusicalny Thanks for getting back to me. I had to reseat the power harness at one point and then it was on a shelf for awhile. on el-capitan so the 003 is supported. Its showing up in Ableton, GB etc but just no audio in out, midi is working. Routing all looks good. Is it possible the encoders failed? Thanks again.
Well it all depends in the conditions you run your equipment. humidity and dust can contribute to the harness accumulating dirt. I had the interface since 2004 and this is the 2nd time I cleaned the harness. Is not a hard job at all.
At this point it will depend on which operating system you are currently running. Back when I used it more than 10 years ago the drivers came with the pro tools software so you just had to install pro tools. I suggest checking in Avid.com or their forums to see it you can get just the driver for the operating system you have.
@@descargamusicalny hola si quiero digamos una voz en estéreo capturar hago un canal de muestro estéreo pero cuando registra debería salir dos audio en el espectro pero solo me graba uno porque eso es normal no e visto que an grabado estero una voz ... y salen dos monos grabados gracias
@@channelscope7437 para grabar algo en stereo necesitas 2 microfonos tambien. El signal chain seria dos microfonos con dos cables xlr que van a la digi002, por ejemplo canales 1 y 2. En pro tools o en cualquier DAW que estas usando habres in canal stereo y asigna a que capture por Los canales 1 y 2. O tambien si habres 2 canales mono puedes Panear el primer canal todo a la izquierda y el segundo canal todo a la derecha
