Just baked this, but only the filling. It is a bit different but very good. I would do this again.

Thank you for sharing. I love shortening pie crust. Everyone uses butter now and that's fine, but I miss mom's shortening crust. Happy Holidays!

Thank you!! I like the way the shortening recipe is easy to handle, and it makes a really flaky crust. I’ve made both, I have a good butter recipe that calls for buttermilk. It’s what I use for chess pie and sweet potato, but my favorite old standby recipe is the shortening version. Thank you so much for watching! What would you like to see next?

I like the richness and texture of evaporated milk in pumpkin pie. Also, whipping cream should be very cold before whipping.

Thanks for watching! I agree to both, evaporated milk is my top choice for pumpkin pies, and a cold bowl and cold cream make the difference!
