... I just finished the game without knowing that was a thing. GOD DAMNIT!

It's Splatty hacking the engagement algorithm, by making people all comment about it, it's genius!

How long is it? I doubt if I'd play it more than once, even with the different character types. It looks kind of fun, but I'm not sure it's for me.

lol scrolling thru videos on this channel to discover new games... just realized i havent finished disco elysium :D it's the only succesful game title from Estonia btw : ) nice debut for estonian gaming devs

No it's not. It's more like: Do you want to be slightly drunk, or completely drunk? Other than that, it's just a glorified walking simulator, filled with trivial nonsense that all leads to the same damn place. It's pithy, to be sure. Some might even call it quite novel -- pun intended. But, about halfway through, you start to see through all of the false choices; and then it just gets to the point that the end-game simply cannot come fast enough.

@@mvpfocus Its fun to play for me. Your attributes and skills are checked in every dialoge, you can have different approaches to the railroading. I found for example 2 different approaches for the ladder that leads to endgame. In the beginning there are at least 2 ways to handle measurehead that is guarding the gate. And you can use another way to get in by perception. Find a way into cunos shack. You can not do everything like you could do in a tabletop roleplaying session with a clever dungeon master. But you can do a lot of stuff in DE. That you can not change the railroaded story is okay in my eyes. But a roleplaying game is about how the world reacts to you not how you shape your world. That is power fantasy. Most people in real life have very little power to shape their world at all. I found the story and text, trivia, the setting, the background stories you can unlock and find very interesting. So it is one of the best recreation of tabletop roleplaying i encountered so far. If you know computer video games that handled that better, please let me know. Have a nice day.
