Excellent video. I've had my bikec2 months and already experiencing problems. Very disappointed to be honest. But I'll try the relay fix you've suggested. Thanks.
you tell me mate, bought a bike at 2800 as a cheaper option, now a few months later the cost to fix it's damages that I did not do anything to cause them is already 650 and it's still not perfectly fine, need more time, effort and money to get it ready. Hopefully you got yours fixxed already
Hey BEN upgraded my himalayan 2020 with roots relays a couple of days before . I must say it has made a world of difference on my bike.Thank you man ,The way you keep working on your himalayan inspires me to do a couple of mods on my own. Many fellow himalayan owners in my circle ended my selling them i didn’t feel like giving up on my himmy . I admire the way you come up with solutions for even the smallest hiccup which many people to overlook or brush off saying leave it as u found it or its the way it is . Keep posting man good luck 👍
ben, thanks for these kind of technical videos, these are very very important things tat all Himalayan owners should know. Appropriate the effort bro... Keep doing...💪
Bro, im facing a starting issue in between runs. Contacted multiple service centres, and they couldn't solve the issue. Could you please share the link for ur roots relay.
BEN, I live in the UK, now I will be in Colombia for a while. Your videos are A1, thank you for all the motivation that you induce. Yes, I will be riding around Colombia and Southamerica you can guess on what, of course on a Himalayan. Please continue with your good work, certainly, you are an inspiration for a lot of guys who love motorbikes. Take care and happy rides.
thanks for the kind words dear friend. means a lot. And all the good luck to you on your adventures . The himalayan will be an amazing choice in south america. And a BIG YES to continuing the good work.
RE is the most useless & poor quakity bike that has been successful by PR gimmick for decades, fooling all the people all the time. Salute RE for their immense expertise at chicanery. If you want peace of mind and ride your bike(not keep repairing it), buy a Japanese bike.
Hi Ben Thank you for sharing your insights I have placed an order for the same roots 25 amps relay. However, I got a 20 amp relay of the same company. Do you think replacing the default RE relay would help or shall I place another for roots 25 amps relay. I love your content DIY and it has helped me :)
@@rupjyotikakati2458 yes upto some limit, I also had to replace the charcoal canister which is located in bottom of engine in bash plate. After that issue was completely fixed. But yes I will admit, relay upgrade definitely improves the missing problem and bikes performance.
@abhishek Negi. My himalayan hv starting issue after 2 months of purchase. It's been 8 months running bt no sign of resolve by company. I replaced with stock relays by RE, nothing helpfull, RE told me it's the fuel pump issue, they order it bt its been 1 month gone since they order it, bt sign of order till now.
@@rupjyotikakati2458 try checking other workshop, there can be numerous reasons for same issue. It's always batter to go in company workshop, specially when your bike is in warranty. I will suggest you to ask your mechanic to check, charcoal canister which resides below the engine, in your bash plate. Due to mud and dust normally it stops working. I replaced it and issue was fixed.
Hi ben good to see you back, for my bike I haven't faced such issues till now hopefully, but yes I'm facing the issues of air leakage from the tyres from my Himalayan, I tried filling nitrogen still the same snd yes the tyres are not punctured.... what's your take on this 🤔 How this can be solved
@@Ajeya_Reddy yeah bro air in front tyres loses like within 2-3 days even with nitrogen, hence resulting in poor mileage, did you approached the service centre, what they're saying?
Try checking the valve or get a new tube. I haven’t approached anyone. All I’m doing is refilling it once in two or three weeks. With experience, all I understood is visiting RE Service centres is mere time and energy waste.
Usa models relays are in different location. Turn signal on side. Two on top one is fuel pump. Mine all had too much white lithium grease on them(need to clean some off). Also i adjusted the cluctch free play(slightly less play) when swapping handlebars and the bike stopped stalling and went into nuetral easier.. 2021 usa model.
Yours is a 2020 model ( sold as the 21 in some parts in the west ) . That is why the relays are located in different locations ( like mine 2018 ) . And yes , get rid of the lithium grease and go in with di electric grease . Also you are a 100% correct with the lesser freeplay .
@@lophloph07 that’s all that I have been talking about in this channel . It’s a really good thought and engineering . Just minor niggles because of poor assembly in the factories.
Hello Ben, I recently bought a Himalayan 2 days back. While in heavy traffic conditions the bikes engine cuts off while in 1st gear. I am guessing the problem might be due to low idling. Have you experienced any such issues?
I got pissed off by 2018 model for 4 years. This problem or that problem. Ultimately sold that out in 2022 despite excellent ergonomics. How long one can massage the ego of the bike??😡😡
Hi Ben, I'm still facing the same issue I have changed spark plug and changed the heating sensor on silencer and checked the fuses as well and we have checked by fuel pump but still same results Please let me what is the issue
I have tons of issues. Amd I am really looking forward to meet you. I donno how will I?? But if you ever see this message, Please reply. I need your help.
Hi ben, my 2021 bs6 himalayan was grounded for two months because I was out of town, when I came back the bike started giving me fuel pump not priming issue, was absolutely fine before I went out of town. Changed the fuel pump relay, it worked fine for a few days, now suddenly the fuel pump is again not priming, relay is working fine because I can hear the click sound when I move the kill switch. Any suggestion what else can I try to find the root cause?
Great video Ben.. I own a 2023 Model Himalayan 1600 kms driven.. My bike starts to hickup / gasp for power when i increase the throttle beyond 60 - 70 kmph on 5th gear.. the same happens on 1st and 2nd gear too... Should i change the relays or install Fuelx or try something else.. Please advise..
Excellent video! I have the same issue in my 2021 Classic 500. Countless times I am stuck route when a fuel pump won't prime when hot. I've taken the motorcycle to the shop several times. They replaced two mini relays but no change. I'm searching for the location of the fuel pump replay now.
Hey mate, just a question. My bike, cbr 600 rr 2004, is lately stalling in neutral at stops even clutched in and also while riding will lose power for a second or two or will jerk forward sometimes as I deccelerate. Do you have any idea what the issue might be? Thanks
Hi buddy, my Himalayan is just 3 months old. Faced the engine cut off issue, starting issue bcos of Fuel pump noise missing. RE service replaced the relay once with normal relays. Since the problem resurfaced, they replaced the Fuel pump. Still it was not solved. 3 days back they replaced the relays again but this time instead of 5 pin relays they have installed 4 pin ones. I am not sure about the tech specs of the relays, but last 2-3 days there's no problem.. Planning to test this week on some short rides. They said this is the new updated one which would be used on majority Himalayans with the Relay problem Would love to hear your thoughts?
Hi ben, ive got both the fuel injector replaced and the 5pin relay to 4pin relay(only one relay rhs side FI) .. But still iam facing the power lag issue, could you help me out? Is there anything else needs to be done
Hi Ben. Needed some guidance for my Himalayan. Recently did a long distance tour (1200 kms) and I've noticed an uncommon issue. My bike has been burning oil for some reason. It was serviced just prior to the ride with oil change and oil fiker replacement included in that. It's a BSVI (first lot March 2020 manufacturing). Any inputs from your end as to why this may be happening? There are no visible oil leaks anywhere. Only the exhaust fumes smell different. This is what led me to check. Thank you.
keep the bike parked at an angle where the exhaust points towards a DARK (no light or white ) background. turn the motorcycle on and let it idle for 5 minutes. now twist the throttle in full open position (REV LIMITER) and hold it there for 3-5 seconds . if you see a cloud of white smoke coming out of your muffler (this is where the dark background helps ) CONTINUOUSLY then and only then do you have an oil burning issue. double check by performing this 2-3 times. Otherwise the motorcycle consuming oil at constant cruising at higher rpms is absolutely normal. top up with 100 ml every 1100-1500 kilometers.
Ben i gota new Himalayan but when I leave the handle bar while riding it starts to fall/go right. I told my dealer and RE service center they said it's normal and if the speed is below 60 then it will do that
Hi Bro, Mine BS6 Himalayan i hav issue with Temperature Sensor in my bike showing blank C° -- in odo meter where do I get Ambient Temperature Sensor in Himalayan
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN k but which Is the exact location off Ambient Temperature Sensor located,at the service center they tried alot for it bt they didn't find ,even i to but no use
Hey BEN Great content Love from jammu ❤ Am facing issues of stalling, I own a bs4 himalayan, All i understood is that i need to upgrade 2 micro relays below my seat to 12v 25 amp ? Is there anything else i need to change?
Mr.ben I've swiped the relay 20A to 30/35A ..is fine...for my bike...or should I go for 25A... Coz I didn't get 25A near by me .. plz kindly gv a suggestion..I'm waiting for it
Hi ben I'm from Hyderabad I have a problem with my himalayan. it's not starting when I'm giving ignition it won't catching. Service guy said I have to change O2 sensor but he is not sure about it. Can u help me in this
The stalling / pulsing idle is a common issue on the Himmas sold here in the US. Most dealers near me are working with RE to see what the issue is. Currently, they are swapping out ECUs with minimal success.
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN Hi Ben, I have observed that opening and closing the fuel cap for just few secs makes huge difference, my bike runs smooth without any lag/ fluctuation issue @ lower RPM but only for few kms ( hardly 3- 4 kms of run) and again same issue reoccur's ( can't feel any air pressure while opening the fuel cap). I have to repeat the same frequently in order to run my bike smoothly (without any flautuations / lag issue @ lower RPM levels...) Note - It's Himalayan 2021 just 3 weeks old facing this issue since from day one of its delivery)
Brother im having fuel injection problems. Sometimes would work. Sometimes would not work. Especially when parked in hot place. Will the relay change solve this issue?
@@ONTWOWHEELSBENi have changed both relays. Fuel pump still not priming after a hot ride around the city..i am at a lost. My local mechanic says it's the fuel pump motor. But for it to fail on a 7,000 kms old bike? I am waiting for the fuel pump replacement. I am wondering if that will solve the issue?
Had the same issue got fuel pump changed under warranty (8k km) but now its taking long cranking time, there is stalling/ cutting out issue as well. Should i change my relays
Very informative. Thank you. Link for relay purchase in the description would have been helpful. Also as mentioned in the video pease add a link to purchase dielectric grease
I discovered that each time i wash the bike, the directional relay would begin to making a clicking sound. The clicking stops once its dried out. Have you ever encountered this situation? Thank you! I love your channel!
This is only because of moisture finding it’s way into your relay/connectors. Remove them clean them thoroughly and apply a shot of di electric grease and job done
@@ranjithr3348 No bro I didn't used it yet. My warranty period is not over yet . So I asked about it to the service center. They told If something gone wrong the warranty will cancelled. But I keep it with me always, it may help me incase something happens in the middle of ride .
Hello I've Aprilia SR160 after riding few kilometres the vehicle don't start. After few hours the vehicle starts. Fuel pump was replaced recently. Can this be a sign of faulty relay?
Ben, My Himalayan got only first service from the service centre. 2nd service been due since a few months. Inspired by you, I decided not to hand over my bike to the service center guys who have not a proper knowledge about the machine. Believe me. Rather I do it myself. I know you are there, Isn't it Ben? Am I correct? Or should I go to the Service Centre?
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN thanks Ben. If i face some problem, i know you are there. And Ben, if you plan to visit Calcutta ever, i shall be glad to host you. You are such a loving person. May God bless you.
you are really right about that relay as one local mechanic burnt out his wiring harness as he replaced with higher amp relay he added 40Amp almost double the size of 20Amp as bs 6 gives 20A/10A on its prefitted and on UK models they provide 25A customized relay Re should reconsider to buy Minda 20Amp than buying those cheap Zhong-tong china
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN yeah thats true besides ive observed on bs6 the company applies to much battery grease on the relay which gets dry and stiff and creates loose contact as ive wiped out and applied wd40 and it worked pretty well mainly that Fuel pump relay
Hi ben what fo do if bs4 is having much vibrating idle and runs sluggish? I have changed relays to roots one .. still it feels like bike runs very less powerful
Yes im owner of 2021 bs6 himalayan recently i faced the fuel pump issue all of the sudden bike stopped on road i just booke road assistance and got it serviced came to know fuel pump is malfunctuoning and replaced it for 80 rupees but sad part is when i enquired what could be d reason they are clueless and claimed we serviced 4 bikes recently with the same issue.
I mean the same issue engine cutting out in between as it happened 3 times the 4th time they replaced new fuel pipe i think relay could be the real issue
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN but engine stalling is the true issue to be sorted out coz it makes me feel low especially whrn drivng in heavy trafic hopefully relay should put an end to this issue
