Ben I think you should keep this energy in your every vlog. Great content, nicely explained. I own a 2021 himalayan clocked 4500km and my experience with the machine is just awesome.
Greetings from Germany. My new BS6 works well with shifting at 3k rpm when I use a little double-clutching. You might want this if you got steady rolling traffic slightly above 30 km/h. It was the same with my old carburated Honda XBR 500, so I'm used to it. Beside this, nothing to add to Ben's remarks. Highly appreciating your work, Ben.
When i purchased my 2021 himalayan the first three days were horrible. It used to stall and feels lag.sluggishness used to happen until post 1st service when i took my bike a 1k km ride it helps me my himalayan understand each other and thus no more lags or stalls.
Hey Ben, This info clears all our doubts, yes even I thought that about throttling tech, it makes sense that's higher RPM would be great to changing gears. My brand new Himalayan doesn't stall still now hope I'm using it in the way to do. Also I've done 1st service and everything going good till now. Happy Ben thank you
Thanx ben for this video i followed the throttling procedure you told on your prev video and man no more stalling issue till now.. it's been 300 k.m after that not a single stalling issue i encountered with on my bs6 2021.. I had relay issue also which is solved by RE. Service center by replacing them with 4 pin relay used in meteor 350..
Hey ben, Huge fan of your works. All that you have done with the himmi and sharing those info with us is really amazing. So coming to the point, i have a 2022 himalayan which is having the stalling issue. Ok I started to notice this stalling may be only 3 months back and recently it was on all time high. I am a person who have this typical mindset that how much these SC people check our bike they would never look after our bike as we do. So most of the works on my Himalayan is done my myself(haha along with your videos 😅) changing oil, pads, clutch adjustment, meter console (silica gel😅) the list goes on and thanks for that. Problem: Stalling when the clutch is engaged at low rpm in traffic(yes i use my himmi as commuter- pls dont judge me: i like to use my himmi daily, having said this i have taken my himmi all the way from kerala to himalayas, so not always a commuter😊). Occurrence: During initial 5 km after starting the bike, himmi runs smoothly no stalling at all. After this 5 km whenever the clutch is engaged on low rpm bike stalls. Suspect: Faulty relay or my riding style has to improve or evap delete or throttle body etc….. Actions: 1. Swapped the fuel pump relay with side stand relay to check if its only the problem with a single relay(unsuccessful 😊) 2. Bought 5 relays from roots and swapped with the actual ones(unsuccessful 😊) ps: please connect with me in case you people need the same. Happy to give my fellow riders in case they are struggling with relays. 3. So understood that cause of the same issue can change from vehicle to vehicle. Watched your next video and then i changed my riding style, which was actually a but difficult as this heated up the bike. Still no improvement other than increasing the count of stalling. Seems like stalling is directly proportional to heating😊(unsuccessful 😊) 4. Two things was left one was evap delete and other is throttle body cleaning/replacement. So before i go for evap delete thought i would give RE SC a chance to correct the throttle body. To my surprise for the first time in my entire riding career the flock in SC acknowledged the issue. Told i will have to keep the himmi in SC for a day or two. I was really ok with that. Before leaving SC i asked what will be done as part of the checks. He told first he would clean the throttle body and check and then will connect with me. So the next day he called me back and informed, that cleaning the throttle body didn’t help and he has raised replacement request under warranty. I was having feeling of assurance that this would solve the issue. Next day he told bike is ready.(successful ❤) Since then I haven’t faced any issues what so ever and i have the comfortable riding style not the full on revving one 😊. Moral: If your bike is still on warranty go to SC and get the bike checked. One person’s problem might not be your problem. Don’t jump into conclusions that this will be the only cause, do trial and error method to find the cause of your issue. P.S: Sharing this long comment only because i want my fellow owners to not loose hope if one solution does not work out. Cheers Happy motoring .
Hi Ben. After watching this video, I must say this is the best video ever created or seen on youtube for the RE HIMALAYAN 2021 and 2022 as well as 2023. This is the best video of the year 2022 and 2023. I am sharing this with many HIMALAYAN users all over my state, that is, West Bengal. I have personally tried and tested this method and have become successful. Ben, salute you bro. But I have a curious question. Why is that being in a single circuit just below the seat, the problem is occuring? I need the technical explanation behind. Would you be kind enough to do so? Sudipta.
Yes even I faced the same issue when I was going to Shinkula Pass with pillion.. I was not able to pull it on the bends and could feel the lack of power.. It was not pulling at all.. And it was a surprise for me.
Ben u are right I have tried both the Himalayas back to back as I am technician in Royal Enfield and also tried to teach the customers who come with such complaint because I never face the problem while test riding the bike but when I ask the customer to ride and when I sit behind i get to understand why they are facing the problem so now I also have to teach them how to ride this bs6 Himalayan but as they are new riders there is one or the other conflict so now I am going to share your video with them
I was actually looking for this specific issue and came across your video.. the 2021 model is quiet combersom to ride in heavy traffic, it's not always possible to shift at higher rpms in heavy traffic, also recently have noticed that when the bike starts to heat up in traffic it's pickup becomes sluggish, difficult to keep it idealing and shuts down...
Ben u should start a proper online course on motorcycles. I mean the basics of the engine. the technical aspects n everything. So damm spot on with your things man.
thanks for the love and kind acknowledgement dear friend. but that job is best done by engineers who build and develop these machines and not a mere enthusiast like me.
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN I totally understand the good meaning on why @aditya dave suggested that. But Ben, please be an enthusiast coz in that way you will be accessible to amateurs guys like me to understand the machine we have in our hands. I really liked the way you put out "DO NOT treat it as a baby, ......, Kindly be hard on the machine and then machine will definitely put a smile on your face" and that's how I felt about my Himalayan when everyone around me (mostly commuter bikes & fellow KTM'ers) suggested otherwise so far. Thanks again for an another wonderful production. stay safe :)
Thanks for sharing your insight on 2021 Himalayan. I should say that it is an important revelation that you have put forth. But this opens up a pandora Box of questions, such as, (a) where is the ECU located, how to access the ECU, (b) is it possible to hook Bluetooth based OBD2 scanner to the ECU, (c) do the idling screw exists, (d) if yes, how to access it, (e) if no, how to set the idling rpm. In that case, do one needs the proprietary RE software to set the idling rpm? If possible at your end and if you are interested, please investigate it and come up with a new video. I shall be anxiously waiting for such a video which addresses these questions. Thanks anyway and keep up the good work. 👍
Subscribed your channel now Ben !! Man you deserved it.. 👏 i own a himalayan 2021 as well.. i am hearing a tick tick sound at the rear from suspension or may be from swig arm whenever i shake the rear body when its standstil.. some times while riding at low gears as well.. any advice or idea on how to overcome this issue wil be appreciated !!
I bought a brand new 2022 Himalayan and while performing its first service I removed the tank vent line while removing tank and there was a huge release of pressure! I researched this and found that the evap system in this bike has had some issues. I continued to ride the bike and checked the vent line again and the tank was not relieving itself of pressure. I removed the bash plate and found that the line was kinked from the factory and the canister was full of fuel! I deleted the evap canister and the bike ran so much smoother! I highly suggest removing the evap system on this bike. Cheers
Exactly the core riders never complaints they adapt since we ride different motorcycle while in group .. it's the skill set of the riders from their previous experiences from their ample no of rides in different terrains & climatic rides. I have a Electra too I am aware how it used to be while it was new and how it's now. Seasoning the engine totally depends on how you ride it. Thank you. Just waiting for my 1st service to get completed then seasoning of the engine will be initiated.
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN sir... I have a doubt can u pls solve it... I drove my Himalayan 1700 ft above sea level .. While riding the last 20 min, I had to complete several path where the road ws at 60-70 degree angle and whenever I used first gear & then change to 2nd .. there ws a noise like a autorickshaw start.. and it would stop when the road ws normal'.. Any idea why is sound like that?
That was awesome mashe , Have been watching your videos from Day 1. One day I will own this beauty and will visit you for your blessings ( intervention ) 😁 . Just one question though, why don't you start your own mini garage ? Just a suggestion aane ketoo . 🙂
Hello Ben , am one of ur subscriber and really admire all of your video and follow them. Thanx for making this video but I want to point out that am one of the 2021 owner and facing this issue. All you said was true but the bike literally lags the lower rpm power and you could easily feel it. We can't open the throttle all the time in all the terrain. Like when you do offroading and climbing hills. There u need power in lower rpm that's what the long stroke engine all about. I don't know abt the other 2021 model but with my bike it's not that fun in low rpm. This is an issue and the service center person has also admitted that there is issue and they said that the throttle body unit need to be changed. I am waiting for the unit to come and will update to you whether there is any change or not. Thanx again for making such useful videos and we really appreciate your work. Pls make more videos on 2021 model if possible.. 😊
You will get used to it and you will LEARN to ride it better dear friend . Be open to the demands of your NEW machine and you will see the difference in your attitude . As far as HOW TO ride goes, there is so much more that i could add , but i believe its best left to the owner to learn on his own than have someone else teach them.
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN I wanted to say that there is no instant torque in low rpm(2000- 3000)range which is abnormal for a long stroke engine. That's y I bought this machine to have fun in low rpm as well. It feels abnormal while you ride below 3000. Anyways hope it gets resolved and definitely I'll focus on your words as well.. thanx for replying 😊
@@lachala Sir I am a passionate bike Rider.. I ride so many bikes but when one of my relative buy himalayan bs4(2019) and when i ride it i fall in love with himalayan then i Dicided, whenever I am able to take my first bike it will be Himalayan so finally i bought my Himalayan.. today its been 2 month old and i ride it like 452km something.. Before buying I have done some research and watching so many RU-vid videos.. and i notice you and i saw, you have great knowledge about bs6 Himalayan.. so I'm here to request u to share some knowledge to me so i can take proper care for my Himalayan :)
yes, INDIAN traffic is not something that suits the Himalayan. i have been stressing on this ever since i started this channel . This motorcycle works like a charm almost everywhere i take it to , but city traffic. and yes the maps are to be blamed , they are not as precise as they are supposed to be to take on our traffic conditions but i dont complain because i use the motorcycle to do what it is intended to do.
a new ecu update is there for himalayan bs6 2021. I got it updated and its been a month now. The bike feels butter smooth. The heating issue is also gone now.
yes , just like how you adapt to the different cars that you drive, the power, the cruising rpms and the torque outputs vary from one to another and we learn to live with it and make peace with it.
it only works when you understand throttling.... i dont agree with you. a fuel injected bike should work in any rpm with any throttle position. Thants what fuel injection is made for. if there is stalling or no constant crusing at low throttle the mapping is not right..... the driver should not adapt to a efi system, the efi system should work in any situation, otherwise the map is faulty. Thats like you tell us if a caburated bike has a to small idle jet or a to lean needle setting you should learn to ride the bike only at WOT on the main jet.... thants bullshit, sorry.
Good advice. I honestly don't normally shift until I'm around 4,000rpm. It looked like there was 4 mini relays on the 2021. I believe my 2020 only has 2 relays.
Hi Ben, I had same complaint and shifting isn't a problem, it should be right fuelling throughout the rpm range, I shot a mail to the company and they updated the software on my bike (may be the first one in delhi). Now it's working fine but now it's just the stalling issue left on my bike. This 3k rpm shifting can actually damage the clutch. It's a machine issue and not related to our riding style. I will share a video soon.
i dont know what to say brother. Too many novices out there with Himalayans as their first bike. Each one feels something every other day . each rider describes it differently. What i am talking about I UNDERSTAND very well. I am talking about a map that is tuned like this . It is not a fault. this map is just to aid low speed riding in city traffic conditions . and it works very well. but if you want to feel the motor all the time then you have to do what is required of you . Also shifting at 3k rpms is not detrimental to the clutch in anyways if you know HOW to shift.
@@ONTWOWHEELSBEN thanks for the reply buddy. I think we are not on the same page here. Will share a video soo. I hope you will easily figure out the issue in hand. Till the time cheers. 😇
Recently started encountering this, my fuel tank got completely empty, wondering if that might affect the fuel injector? Any suggestion? I am asking this because I didn't face it earlier at all...
ngl but the machine lags when heated, like the throttle response it gives knocking sound as if its struggling to obey my command. anyways thanks brother. ride safe
The engine cries when push 60+ at 3rd gear. This doesn't happened earlier. It ran 22k with stock clutch assembly and all. Any reason behind this ? It feels like engine parts will brake if i push more.
thanks a ton ben got so much info, can u plz also discuss about issues like - odomterer not working, bike start problem even after trying for couple of times and also can one rely on this bike when it comes to reliability. can u plz talk on this for himalayan bs6 2021
odometer not working is a speed sensor issue . starting problem can be so many things /pls get it checked. and yes it is a 100% reliable machine. I have been out there riding every day on this . doing all sorts of things.
Thanks for the inputs ben. I own a 2023 Model Himalayan 1600 kms driven.. My bike starts to hickup / gasp for power when i increase the throttle beyond 60 - 70 kmph on 5th gear.. the same happens on 1st and 2nd gear too... When i twist the throttle (even when im on appropriate gears) the power / response is toooooooooo sluggish.. It was not like this before. Im experiencing this all of a sudden.. Should i change the relays or install Fuelx or try something else.. Please advise..
Ben, I face stalling issue while starting the bike, and when I am doing rev matching while lowering the gear. I think I have problem in my bike. Isn't it??
10 days after the purchase of RE Himalayan, I noticed deep scratches on the rear wheel rim while washing the bike after riding in rain. When I contacted the service center and the brand store, they dint consider my complaint. Instead, they are complaining me that I have ridden the bike on paved roads. I wrote an email to customer support and they redirected me to service center. Could you please help me whom to contact or complain?
Ben I made a long drive yday on Himi close to 420km... But I faced stalling once at no point where it has to.. I had the same issue couple of times earlier too... But u know some times vyoong..shift...vyoong...shift... doesn't work... U must consider riding 2021 himi on a long drive to experience it.
that is not what i was talking about in this video. there are many other reasons for a stall like that ( out of no where) . get RID of your EVAP canister ( watch my video) and you will no longer face this issue.
How can we adapt to a new way of throttling if the skill that has been learned and used for the past 20 years ? I do face the issue of Stalling on a Himalayan which i have brought one month ago. The first service has been done and the RE mechanics have said that they have received similar feed backs regarding HImalyan BS6. Is there any way so that stalling does not happens on lower RPM's? Imagine a situation where you are riding the bike and suddenly the bike stops and a bus or a truck coming from behind have to apply a sudden brake. This happened to me recently :-) . So, RE should take this seriously and if you come to know how to mitigate this issue, it would be good to hear about that too.
sir , i have a picup issue after 20 k.m. but when engine are cool then its ok. i already done fuel injector clean and change plug cover ,use iridium plug. my bike is bs6 two years old and cross 20000 k.m.plz suggest me.
If you could read and reply to message. I haven't been throttling the way you described. Neither in my 650 twin nor on the 21 HIMALAYAN and never had the Himalayan stalled. So what could be different with my bike?? I live in Shimla region, could it be due to that? That the ECU and sensors enrich the fuelling due to the temperature and oxygen pressure?? All in all maybe being in colder and higher altitudes region could be keeping my fuelling good,, rather overcompensated? And FYI I have been screaming about the new throttle body ever since launch and now only someone noticed it! Thanks.
YES, colder weather and higher altitudes are a perfect match for the Himalayan. The bikes fueling is spot on at temperatures in the 15-25 degree range and an altitude of 2000 metres above sea level (a BS4). And am glad that i finally realized that it was a whole new TB that made the bike different and not just the map.
I have 2021 himalayan and M facing starting problem and power lag issue mainly in 2 gear. After shifting to 2 gear . When u hit the gas some fraction of second after the bike get in power.. that power lag i dont understand what to do in this prob
Why you need to fit the 2021 throttle body ? The 2020 is better than the 2021 model. Less complexity. 2020 is almost like bs4 2019 with slight bit less power but more refined.
