Here's a quick video that shows what you need to know to bend copper pipe with a bending spring. Springs are cheap and easy to use.There's not that much to it

Excellent! Good tip to put the spring inside of the pipe instead of on the outside.

Hi Thomas. The Springs do the job but are tough on the knees the bigger the spring the fewer bends you will want to do over you knee. The heating is working really well. I will be in the shed tomorrow messing around again. I have a video that I might upload where the sides and rear of the stove were humming along and glowing a nice red colour. Now I think thats around 700 + C or 1300 F. Cheers Gerry

Is it a good idea to "lube" the spring, to help get it out?

I have a project involving brass tubing, will this spring system work? all 75-77 degree bends
@GerrysDiy
@GerrysDiy 6 лет назад
Hi mastermooky. If the tube wall is not excessive and the spring is a good fit it will work. I bent copper tubing inside some steel tubing with a spring and ice. Here's a link that might give you some more ideas. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yYN0tTIHhj8.html Cheers Gerry

how do you think a spring would work for a 2.5 foot radius hoop?
@GerrysDiy
@GerrysDiy 9 лет назад
Hi Bradley. Although you could use a bending spring to form a hoop by attaching a coathanger to the end so that you could move it within the pipe to the area you are bending I think a roller setup would be a better option for making hoops. There are easy to make roller setups on youtube I saw some guys making paramotor cages this way. Cheers Gerry
