@wesley wild Nothing changes in the team, or even within the PreSonus organization. If anything, they will get more resources to do what they are already doing.
Here’s a splitter idea. 1. Frequency split on low end, put a presonus limiter on low end only, slow attack, 20 ms release. Try A or B set for a few DB of reduction, makeup gain. The Presonus limiter with 20ms release is a great hard kick plugin. I go to it for that hard kick versus the marshmallow sound from other limiters.
Frequency splitting like this is also really good for gating high-gain guitar parts. Allows you to close down the top end earlier, as the note sustains, so you keep the body while eliminating some hiss. First saw it in Revalver 2 and been recreating it ever since, much better than gating with a single band. Tune one narrow band more aggressively to the hiss you're hearing and it works great!
Thanks Joe. I love the splitter. One of my favorites is on Bass. I take a DI and compress the clean low end pretty heavily. The high end goes through an amp sim for some grit and character.
Great tutorial as usual! :) Years ago Luca Pretolesi made a video on the AA channel where he shows how he used the split tool to master a track. I think that is also so valuable content. I don’t drop the link here ‘cause I don’t want to spam but if anyone wants to see it let me know I’ll drop another comment with the link. Peace ✌🏼
How can I do this on the board? I want to tame the plosive P's in the low mid range on the vocalist's mics & the pastor's mic. I've EQ'd things to a good taste, but this would be great to use as well for that polished sound. But I want to do this from the board. Do I have to use the DAW?? Studiolive 32SX
And what about a splitter based on the time? The 1st milliseconds of the signal and the"body" of it. Maybe somebody somewhere does such thing already, let me know (Personnaly I work with 2 sends/outputs send to 2 compressors which let pass the attack or or not, then send to EQs or other FXs)
