DJI Mavic Pro Review Part 1 

I'm surprised at the number of comments related to 360p. You're all acting like this is literally the first video you've ever watched on youtube... ever. You clearly watched the video before youtube had time to process it. Why am I even explaining this?

There is so much i learn from every single bit of information you share in each and every video. Especially enjoying this on a Friday evening with all my work wrapped for the week. Every second i listen to you talk, feels justified. Every second feels time well spent. Thank you so so much for all your valuable time and patience in sharing your experience with us.

This is the first video I've seen that's shown the active panning up and down of the gimbal and I'm sold.

Mister Bloom, I salute you for sharing your opinions and knowledge with such beauty and elegance! Always look forward to your postings.

Your the only one on youtube that talks about the missing atti mode and you are 100% correct sir! The mavic wil go in atti mode when it does not have gps but what happends when the compass goes nuts, the bird will go out of control, this could happen, many cases are reported, with manual atti like, the p4 the pilot could bypass the compass and fly manualy safety is important! I subscribed

Great example of what the two drones can do when filming cinematic shots. I wasn't sure which to get but now after watching various videos including this one I'm going to go for the Mavic pro, simply because of its size. I was very impressed with the picture quality and really like the look of tripod mode for shooting some really smooth shots

I like to grade my videos in post using FCPX and would really appreciate if you can tell me do you use installed LUTS? if so which ones would you recommend to get the most cinematic look from the Mavic footage. Thanks for the review Philip, very helpful. Do you remember the FPS you had set on these flights? Iam assuming ND filters will help in getting the shutter speed down but guessing none are yet available for it yet. This is bound to help the finished output somewhat.

Hello Mr.Bloom, big fan of your work. I was wondering about your viewing experience of the footage on the spot when you tried the first picture profiles: I noticed that you review the footage on an Macbook Air which is limited by the screen resolution (1440 by 900). Have you tried watching that shots in a better screen? Do you maintain your opinion about 'art' being the better option? Many thanks

Great stuff Philip - thank you for reviewing the drone with a more technical eye than I've seen elsewhere. Looking at the footage close to the ground, there's a ton of compression artifacts around the leaves and the grass. Am I right in thinking that's RU-vid's transcoding, rather than the raw footage? Thanks.

Thank you, I really enjoyed your thoughts on this. I'm interested in the Mavic Pro because of its size and portability. I think it is exactly what the market needed. That being said, I'm going to wait a bit and see what next year brings. I'm in the middle of swapping from Canon EOS to Olympus M4/3 to lighten my gear load. If the Mavic holds up, I'll seriously consider it for adding aerial shots to my hiking and paddling adventures.

hi philip! i was wondering if you could tell me how you color graded the footage of you talking into the camera? the colors look fantastic and has nice saturation yet filmic. i understand it would vary from camera to camera. i have a sony a6000 and a nikon d5200. neither shoot log but both have high bitrate with custom flat profiles. i would like to know your settings sith filmconvert, which film preset you used so i could have the basic idea. THANKS A LOT! ALWAYS AMAZED BY HOW PRETTY YOUR STILLS/VIDEOS LOOK.

Phillip - thanks for all the info! I currently am using an Inspire 1pro for real estate photos and some video. I've been having problems with focusing and exposure(it looks great on the iPad, but out of focus when I look at it on my computer). I am seriously considering getting the Mavic. Would you recommend this? Thanks

PB, for your preferred look do you like same PP settings you settled on for mavic pro here as on your phantom 4? Cinelike, Sat -1, Cont -1, Sharp -1, I think? Also, good catch for us on lack of user-set ATTI mode. I'd heard whiff of this of forums but haven't seen any early reviewers mention. Thanks

Hey Mr. Bloom is there a "making of" of your clips. I´d like to see how you did your colour grading on this and the second part. Just looks so great. Also could you let me know what were your camera settings. Shutter, iso, resolution, etc.? Whould be a lot of help and motivation to get similar shots. Thx

Great review Mr Bloom! Always glad to see one of your videos in my subscriptionbox. Just in case you ever run into the problem of wanting to create a YT-video without any idea what it could be about: Do a review of that Compagnon-bag! Even the shortest video will do. I want to get away from using backpacks but need something that will hold some gear without losing its shape or breaking my back. Also i dont want to look like a photographer (hope you what i mean). Therefore i would love to get your opinion on that topic since you suffer from having a bad back as well. Anyways, really appreciate the fact that you make time to create videos for us to enjoy for free! Cheers
