I'm sorry you're going through this. I hit that low spot and question myself in every run over 90 minutes! 😆 For me, races refresh my love. When in a slump, I sign up for a race. I wish you the best!

I am going through an injury right now and not running is really getting to me. When everything is flowing it also makes me really want to run and go after big goals. I find for myself, if I want to get back into it, I need to add a little structure to my training. That helps me get back into it. Without structure, I feel in limbo some.

Still trying to figure out the structure!

Hi. What helps me is having a race. If no race then motivation set at a constant zero.

Running is the easiest thing in the world. It's just one foot in front of the other, no problem. It's the work you have to do prevent your body from falling apart that is the hard part. But it's worth it for the feeling of freedom out on the trails! Now, if only I could stop my knee for hurting all would be well with the world, sort of ...

If you had Covid-19 then there may easily be lasting side effects of tiredness. It may take months to feel better. You won’t feel better losing your aerobic conditioning. Feeling old is feeling tired because old people are out of shape

How does it make sense to revover through faster running? What about continuing the maf running - go for like 5 1h runs per week in maf zone. It is relaxing and u will improve

He said he needs to take time away from his runs because of life changes. (Job etc) Many people have to adjust the amount of time they run due to time constraints. I'm an ultra runner, but I definitely don't have time to run 5 hour-long runs a week! (I typically total around 5 hours, but 2+ are my long run. )

@@Kelly_Ben I am just curious - how you can become an ultrarunner by running only around 5h weekly? Have you run more in the past? I am a 10k runner who runs 200km monthly.

@@TK-nc3ou It's simple... I don't let life put limitations on my goals! I work 2 jobs, 55-60 hours a week, plus have many pets and a house and husband that need attention. I simply can't run as much as I'd like to. I run 4× a week, typically 45-60 minutes on double job days, then a 2-3 hour long run on my day "off" (only working 1 job). Add in two 15 min strength sessions and 1-2 15 min yoga sessions.... and I'm very lucky I have a supportive husband! 😆 Am I performing at my best? Of course not, but I dislike short races now, so I fit in my training as best I can and tackle the long trail races that excite me, enjoying them and challenging myself with no expectations other than to finish strong.

@@TK-nc3ou How'd you guess? 🤣 😂 I do it to myself. I started my dream business with next to no money, so I have to work extra to pay off all that debt, while still running my business. It's like running though... eventually all that work, even the tough stuff you don't want to get out the door for, will all pay off in the end! Best wishes on your running journey. Enjoy a day off for me! 😆

If you don't want to run, swim. If you don't want to swim, roller skate. Etc, etc. Cardio is cardio. Lots of old people run and love it. But others do yoga, and others practice karate, and still others hike. Some play pickleball or bocci or golf. Seriously, take a look at old people at the Y some time. These are the folk who have made their life better through exercise and their routines are various. Everybody benefits from exercise as they age but it really doesn't matter what you do. It sounds like you were pretty good at running but now you have lost a love for it. Don't push it. Running is always there for you if you miss it. Do you like soccer? Play more soccer and make videos on that if you want.

The point of exercise is to make you feel good... if your form of exercise is not accomplishing that then it isn't all that helpful... thank you for the reminder!
