I live in Georgia. We had a tornado come through some months back and knocked the power out for over two weeks in some places. My neighbor bought one of the 25 HP Summit tractors a short time before the tornado hit. He called me and asked if I had a spare generator that he could borrow as his was having carb issues. I told him that I had a PTO unit that I use on my 1977 Ford 1600, and it was already hooked up on the tractor as we had just used it for 3 days continuous before our power came back on. I was expecting that he would just come drive my little ford 1600 back to his house and use it, but instead he brought his new shiny Summit tractor for the task. I helped him disconnect my old 45-year-old tractor and reconnect his new Summit tractor to the PTO generator. He heads off and gets the lights on in his house and all was good... well good until sometime into the night when he said the lights went out around 1am. I get a call and he sez," can I come get the old 1600 Ford as this POS Summit engine let loose last night and oil is everywhere" I said I would bring it to him and help get it hooked up. Long story short is that my 45-year-old Ford 1600 had ran nonstop with full generator load at wide open throttle for 3 days at my house and 2 days at his house with zero problem. These cheaply made tractors are good for the weekender but may not hold up to heavy usage. We bought the Ford 1600 new and it now had 5100 hours on it. The engine and transmission are original. It is on the 3rd clutch...

You have the most compelling story. I would love to know how Summit handled the problem with your neighbors tractor, did they fix it, give him another tractor or give him his money back??
@timothyallbritton1961
@timothyallbritton1961 3 месяца назад
@@dannyboy6332 I'm pretty sure that they covered it under warranty as I haven't heard him say that they didn't. He normally just uses it for light duty stuff on the weekend. He has stated that he will not be hooking it to anything that runs continuously like he did with my PTO generator. I tell him that if his power goes out next time to just come get the old reliable 45-year-old Ford ;) It makes for a fun laugh :)

@@dannyboy6332 Personally I don't think these tractors are built for actual heavy-duty day in and day out use. I think they are more for a weekend user, gardener, finish mower or light bush hog work, or someone looking for a nice cheap tractor. I can't see these tractors being put on a farm and plowing all day every day. I am not trying to knock the tractor by any means, but I am just being honest. I have numerous tractors and have run them for most of my 63 years on earth. If I were to buy a new tractor for my wife to putter around on, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one for her with the shuttle type transmission. However, I would be afraid to buy one and put it to work pulling a grain mill, turning plows, or harrowing all day with it.

I have 6 weeks and just over 20 hours on my Summit. I am very pleased with it. I bought it at Atwoods, the store manager called Summit for me and had the tool box shipped, but all the new Tractors at this Atwoods already has a tool box mounted on them.

Good honest review/update. I appreciate these kind of videos. I’m considering buying one myself as soon as it comes available in my area. I’ve been following you and good works tractors about the summit tractor. So far I see mostly positive things. I have never owned a tractor and the orange and green ones seem to lack some stuff that already comes with the summit. For quite a bit less. Keep the updates and use of the tractor coming.

The one piece of advice that stuck out to me when shopping for our first new tractor was: Prioritize choosing the best dealer/service center as much as your tractor model. For us in our location this meant JD, Kubota and LS. We ended up with LS; I think we'll be happy. (Also found out that blue paint is a lot cheaper than Green or Orange - $10,000 and $13,000 respectively).

To me, comes across as a big-box-store component tractor with an unproven track record. Good to get your 50 hour input but, come back at the 500, 1000, and 2000 hour marks and give us updates, and whether the risk you refer to was worthwhile.

Great summary from a real user, not a sponsored user. I tend to look for those who comment honestly because they paid their own way, and give real-life reviews. You didn't mention the size difference between your old 1025R, and the Summit TX25, which, I think, is a much more stable and robust size (especially with the larger tires and ballasted rear tires). I'm sure your subscriber list will continue to grow.

Wasn't aware the previous you had was a 2025R. That's not a real popular series, from what I've seen, but you did mention it in the review (I missed that). The plusses sure outweighed the minuses, I think. The future parts/service concerns; only time will tell.

Nice video. I do like the fact that tractor comes with front and rear hydraulics. I have a Kubota and have had the hydraulics put on the front for a grapple and would like rear hydraulics as well, but it would be another$1,000 or more. But I do have a good dealer and have not had any issues at all with the tractor. The worst thing about older John Deeres were their proprietary quick detach on their tractors. The universal is so much better to get affordable implements new and used. I do hope Summit does well. If they ever get an affordable tractor with a little more power and a cab I could be interested sometime in the future.

Excellent recap and commentary! I first heard about Summit Tractors and ITL watching Good Works Tractors which got me interested in keeping track of the company. Then you came up in my suggested feed and I became a subscriber. I'm also watching Piney Grove and their recent new partnership with Summit Tractors. I like and trust both those channels very much and feel they are both highly principled, but still it is nice to hear the perspective of someone that has shelled out their own hard earned money for everything as well. I'm going to become a first time tractor owner this year. I am looking to buy property in the spring, something between 5 and 15 acres. I'm about 7 to 10 years away from retiring so this is likely the only tractor I will every own. I am really liking everything I am seeing and hearing about Summit, especially the price. Being able to buy 3 or 4 Summit implements with the tractor for the price of another brand tractor and just a loader is huge for someone like myself!

Awesome video. Been watching videos on the TX25 from almost all YTs. If I had a different applicable use(s), I probably would have selected it as well. However, wanting to keep my nice lawn "an as light as reasonably possible garden tractor style" is needed. But a good dirt/brush/rock picker upper is needed as well. Settled with JD1025R, with help from proper ballasting it is my little Swiss army knife. Apparently the TX25 will have other brothers/sisters but for right too big for at some of my applications. Seems awesome though.

I ended up with kubotas ….im fairly able to maintain and fix most everything not digital on a tractor (other than major hydraulic internal issues) I have a dealer about 15 miles from me and glad I went with a brand that has a dealer close by……being my latest tractor is a L3902 , filters are available from other parties yet….kubota only for now.. my dealer had everything I needed when it came to the 50 hr service .. They’ve also been super helpful with questions I’ve had. Most tractors now days are probably similar to reliability but they’ll all have issues at some point…..dealer support is crucial imo to keep an expensive tractor doing tractor things. Nice video and honest review!

Nice Tractor but a 25hp tractor is very limited as to what it can do and the size attachments it can handle. A 35HP to 50HP tractor will be a better fit for most peoples needs. Hopefully Summit will make a larger tractor soon. They are on the right track. The TX25 offers a lot of nice features and it's a very attractive Tractor.....

Repair centers are the issue, closest one for us in Washington State is over 250 miles away. That is a deal breaker for a lot of us. They sure do offer a lot of bang for the buck though. Many items standard that are very expensive as options on Deer and Kubota

Bobcat tractors are priced significantly less than the comparable Kiyoti. Bobcat prices parts more expensive, which must just be part of their sales structure, but you can buy Kiyoti parts for about 2/3 the price since they’re mostly the same tractor.

Glad you’re enjoying your Summit Tractor. You covered some areas of concern that I share. The US and world tractor market are fairly small markets overall. Solis, Mahindra, Kioti, TYM, LS, Branson, and other asian manufacturers are competing for the compact, sub-compact US market against Kubota, John Deere, New Holland, Bobcat, Massey, Case etc. Price points, included features build quality, warranties, and manufactures financing programs make the decision on which to buy fairly complex. For me I chose not to buy Chinese for many reasons. First there’s the communist tyranny government, true enemies of republic democracies. When you can easily deal with foreign US allies, better quality at a very competitive price, have a dealer backing your purchase with maintaining and obtaining parts when needed and support local dealers who also support the Ag community with jobs and services, why would anyone opt for supporting a Chinese communist government controlled company? For me the price of supporting US allies, local dealers and not contributing to the CCP is by far the best way to do my part to help preserve Our constitutional freedoms. If you can’t buy American at least buy from US allies. The bigger picture my friend, hope this helps others to consider not just the price things but the value of our actions and the things we put our American dollars into.

Resale value is so overrated. Your saving $ 10K upfront and the service use for many years. So the resale is just icing on the cake. Irrelevant unless your looking for a short term purchase. Excellent video, begs the question of when JD and other premium brands will once again put people in front of profits.

Honestly the odds of a manufacturer being a startup and making it now are close to zero. Sadly its just a fact. Try getting parts 10 years from now. Call me whatever you want to but history is on my side and that is where things were rolling along quite well now what we projecting have for the next decade now. Try sourcing some Frontier parts or Jinma. I wish Summit the very best and the more competitive the arena the better the product will be for everyone so I really hope I'm wrong.

The Dealer wants my bucket and $4,100 for this change. My Dealer say's my tractor which has about 7,ooo hours on it would sell for about $ 18,000 dollars. I think I will purchase a Summit which comes stock with the attachments I want and get a new tractor which would probably cost me about $6,000 give or take a few dollars. Sounds good to me. Any opinions out there would be appreciated.
