13:48 thank you so much for pointing this out... this is just kind of a psychological hurdle to overcome... i’m now much more satisfied when dialing in a specific model

Spot on in regards to Eq tweaking. I love having an Eq in my effects loop. If changing the mic setup doesn't destroy the sound of an amp capture, Eq won't either. As for gain, I personally try to avoid adding more than maybe a 1/4 turn. Still sounds like the amp to me and sometimes I want something in between 2 amp profiles. It would be interesting to hear a comparison between say a capture with the gain set at 7 on the amp compared with a capture at 2, then raised to 7 via software. IK already have the modeling from Amplitube, the next step would be letting you choose the gain model to apply in Tonex.

why not demonstrate with a hi gain model- ive found none of the "hi gain" models are actually saturated

I wonder if the confusion comes from the fact that the controls on the Tonex amp MAY not react exactly the same as the controls on the real amp that it's based on? Not a reason not to use the controls that are provided to get the sound you want!

Off topic: is it possible to return the pedal to factory settings. I’d like to sell mine. I already created an account & tried downloading some models. Sound good though monitors but not really through my frfr speaker, which is what I wanted it for really. Thanks

I have mixed feelings about the tone x, the only tone I’m enjoying so far is the dumble capture ik multemedia did for the pedal, and even that I changed the cab section with an IR. I haven’t found a single tone I enjoy from amplitube 5, but I’ve noticed how thin my hx stomp patches sound in comparison to the tone x, I used to own a kemper and it took me a few weeks to adjust to the line 6 sound. I question myself if I’m just used to how the line 6 stuff sounds and I’m still adjusting to the different tones? Is tone x going to be like kemper that as time goes by more and more people will release captures that I enjoy more than what I’m hearing now?

If you're only using the included model/patches, then not surprising you're struggling. They're all sort of extreme. Buy a decent set of captures from a reputable supplier (I use Jason, Tone Junkie, and Amalgam) of just ONE amp/cab that best suits you. I have several dozen JTM45 captures covering a range of amp settings. I can dial in a sound (and feel) identical to my real JTM45 and 2x V30 cab at any setting. Used like this the Tonex is superb!

Great info!! Would be nice to assign gain to EXP 1 on the helix via MIDI !! Only issue is I am still using the software and for some reason MIDI is not available?

Gain = Inputlevel… …so you can use your Helix EXP1 just as volume pedal in front of the tonex right?
