It’s mind boggling that an entity the size of MLB, with all of its resources, can continuously drop the ball the way it has for quite a long time. The blackouts, the countless times it’s decided to be reactive instead of proactive when handling scandals, it’s promotion of superstars, and now the merchandising. I don’t know what else to blame it on besides incompetence. I mean What the fuck

Glad you guys covered this. The quality has gone down. We as fans.. are getting less for our money. Dodgers uniform is supposed to be a specific white. Now we are stuck with an off white color so Nike can make more money. Also the letters on the front are not lined up right. The break in the letters used to be between the o and the d. Now it cuts in the middle of the d. Why would they do that? Looks so sloppy and cheap. Don't mess with a classic design to f___ it up.

The problem as I understand it is that Nike is allowing Fanatics to make these jerseys and put the Nike logo on them, at least for the ones available to the public.

They already sucked last year when the commissioner allowed garbage ads on them.

It's not the materials that's the issue. The new one that I just got feels super light and at first felt wrong but the biggest issue is the everything else. The ironed on lettering, the cheap design, the terrible decision to make every name fucking arc 180 degrees regardless of name length. These were designed by a fucking robot ai and that's the exact opposite of what baseball should be.

I’m sorry, if imma spend $200 on a jersey, I’m not wasting my money on something that looks and feels like something they hand out for free at most promotional games.

Fanatics are a terrible product so no one is surprised by this. They can keep the feel for the players and change the look for the fans.

Just got my limited vapor jersey today from fanatics. Thinner than last year, logos and numbers are small. Feels cheap. Definitely not worth the 175.

I wouldn’t buy a new jersey but I can’t help but think that the low quality names on the back are going to be a distraction to look at on tv all year. I can’t believe somebody thought that smaller/more curved names would be more visually appealing than how it’s been for the last 50 years.

It looks worse than the previous one. If it helps players cool. But quality wise looks worse. Also why drop down the MLB logo that was neat the top by the neck? Now you have a huge empty gap on top and everything cluttered in the middle MLB logo, last name & number

Let managers manage. Stop the runner on 2nd base in extra innings, bring back the shift, let relivers face any number of batters, outlaw advertising on jerseys, and lower the number of games in a season.

Smaller names & numbers and thinner fabric is all about cost cutting and getting your profit margin as high as possible , anyone (especially the manufacturer) who says otherwise is a straight up LIAR!

Yes, jerseys change. But its clear that quality is decreasing with a SHARP increase in price. Fanatics has always been terrible quality.

It’s also not just MLB jerseys, it’s NFL as well. The limited jerseys used to have stitched littering and logos and now, all screen printed.

Listened to an interview with Rich Hill. He was one of the players last year who was asked to try "next years" jerseys.... He hates them. He makes great points. No more custom options. Literally, buckets. Med, large, XL, XXL. That's it.

I think the idea behind the smaller fonts and numbering is less material for more breathability and that's okay but the graphics placement on the back of the jersey reminds me of those corny jersey t-shirts

ASG interviews bait and switch for showing player support. If players want light breathable jerseys then that should be the elite premier vapor gold gameday jersey. Fans need durable gear that isnt going to fall apart in the washing machine. I'd rather buy a blank jersey and sew a name and number and patches on myself.

The league/teams can afford to wear/sell more variations of jerseys if the overall quality goes down. I think most baseball fans don’t mind being traditionalist if that means 3 jerseys that are well thought out and executed.

I bought two of Shohei Ohtani’s new Dodgers jersey. Such a shame they look cheap. I’m sending them back. I wonder how many other thousands will be sent back

Fanatics produce the Jerseys now, They bought a production deal from Nike, nike is licensing the swoosh to Fanatics and Fanatics are making them not Nike. plus, they 3 versions of the jersey they make now are the game day version, known as the replica is now screen printed, and the limited is like the replica from last year but with all the markings Heat pressed with fake stitching.The authentic stitched is using smaller names and numbers this year as well. ever since nike got the contract to make the Jerseys from MLB, they were using the same materiel and template as majestic, but now this is there new template and they outsourced production to Fanatics who's quality is questionable at best. This sucks for jersey collectors. Best bet if you like authentic jerseys is try to buy game used ones from the team store or stadium. they will be last years kit but built way better. I wish I woulda got a Ohtani dodger jersey before they changed it. all the people who ordered one when he signed got last years model but once the restock is back it will be the 2024 version.
