I want to point to something you said in the video; *Shampoo* some shampoos are sulfate free and they are harsh while some are not sulfate free and are gentle and vice versa. The most IMPORTANT THING IS FORMULATION.

I use sulfate free and always double cleanse but the shock when a particular brand of sulfate free made my hair so dry , now I stick to my tried and true one brand

The role of the conditioner is to balance and replace what the harsh sulphates disrupted and took out, that's why it's best to use a shampoo and conditioner from the same brand and line, as they are formulated to work best together. Unless you have a known allergy or intolerance, not preference, I wouldn't get preoccupied with formulation, just use the products as advised by the company. We use these products so we don't have to be the chemist, after all. I developed a devasting protein intolerance by constantly using shampoo and conditioner and leave in from different brands, I learnt that these products are formulated so that when you use, for example, the shampoo, it won't have some of the ingredients that the conditioner does have. This is so your hair doesn't get too much of one thing, and so that what the shampoo did, can be balanced or enhanced.

@@simphiwezungu2124 Don't worry about brands to ignore unless you have a political or moral reason to do so. Choose on the basis of what you can afford, and what your hair needs. For example, if you have dry hair, use a moisturing shampoo, just ensure to use the conditioner from the same brand and line as the shampoo and conditioner are made to work best together. Don't mix and match brands unless you know what the different ingredients do, and how they interact with each other. If you don't get on well with a product, move on and try something else. A couple of other rules, if you put grease or any kind of leave in moisturiser in your hair, you need wash these out when you wash your hair. There was a trend years ago to only wash the scalp so yo don't dry out the hair. This was and is wrong, again, the sole purpose of conditioner is to replace and rebalance the drying effects of the shampoo. If you use a moisturising shampoo, once a month use a clarifying shampoo or one with SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate), but as always, follow with the conditioner for the shampoo, and do a deep conditioner after a clarifying wash and condition as they are more drying. People go nuts about not using SLS, but provided you condition afterwards, and deep condition , it is fine. 90 percent of body washes and shampoos have SLS and no one died or went bald. You need to clarify because Build up on hair can result in matting. Ask me how i know. Also, don't go overboard on products that are for 'dry and damaged hair', use them as directed on the back of the bottle, i.e. TOGETHER (although I always leave my conditioner on for longer) this applies to shampoos and conditioners for 'dry and damaged hair' also. These products have a well balanced amount of protein across the shampoo and conditioner. Too much protein can kill your hair. Ask me how I know. Be gentle with your hair when handling, all that aggressive yanking and snapping is what has us believing our hair doesn't grow. It really is simple once you stop stressing over 'the right product', and pay attention to your hair routine.

I find that moisture retention is easier for me if I just go to Walmart and grab a bag of plastic caps for $1.00 and sleep with the caps on. In the morning my hair is gorgeous.

You low porosity? Using a plastic cap every day can cause hydra fatigue.
