Can also consider using a Sandan 709 A/C compressor and modifying it. They are cheap and plentiful with vids on how to do it. 7 Cyl, 9 CFM. Guys have greased em and run em for years

Great idea with the sight glass....I've ran these old York compressors for years. They are great compressors for on board air. However, by design they all pump out their oil since they were designed to run in a closed-loop AC system. Hope you don't mind, but I/m going to copy your idea when I install a York in my M37 project.
@itchyoldfart
@itchyoldfart 5 лет назад
Feel free to copy away...Glad this was slightly helpful also....Robert, In what part of the county do you live?. We can always use another M37 when we go wheeling lol

I watched a video a few days ago about how to fill in a hole below the head so that oil does not come out into the lines. But like you said about there not being an oil ring that that's where the oil comes from. If I can find that video I will reference it. Interesting concept if that could stop the oil.
@itchyoldfart
@itchyoldfart 5 лет назад
Yes, that is the oil mod, you speak of. They plug the oil gallery between the crank and the head.. I've heard it has minimal results..My theory is getting blow by past the ring and pressurizing the crank case, pushing oil out the top... maybe... I'm grasping at straws but we'll try it...lol

I noticed a comment on his video by someone who claims you shouldnt plug the hole. Who knows. If they run these on semi tractors there has to be a standardized setup for reliability and longevity.
@-SF1-

I found a real nice website how to do this oil plug. I'm not suggesting you should do this because you have a sweet setup the way you did it...just enjoying learning about the options. www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/york_

Nice setup. I have an old York 210 but dang it I dont have an M-37! :( Had it for an early Bronco but traded that a while back. Those M-37's are hard to find. There were a few old ones in town for sale but dude didnt have titles for them. I'mma keep looking.

Thank you Stan...All you would really need is a bill of sales to get another title issued ...not a big deal mine ..wasn't titled when I bought it.. Anyway best of luck with your quest hope you find a good one

@@itchyoldfart OK I was wondering about whether you had went that route. That may be an option then. These two were sitting in the weeds which in Tennessee means rust and lots of it. I'm more interested in little or no rust.

why not run engine oil to it and add a oil drain 1/2 way between the max and min oil level for the compressor then you never have to worry about it thats how they work in big truck and they last a 150k to a million miles. then the oil is changer every 6k miles when you change your engine oil

I'm getting ready to get one of these for a jeep build I'm doing. My question is would an oil catch on the output line with a return hose help with loosing oil from blow by?
@itchyoldfart
@itchyoldfart 4 года назад
I think you would be catching water with the oil ..I would guess probably not a good idea... I have a coalescing filter down stream on mine and it catches a foamy mess, oil and water mix... Good question tho

Hello sir, great video explaining your set up. I'm piecing together pieces to install a 210 on my truck. I'm wondering if you've seen oil splash up the fill tube you installed? Any issues venting the case into the intake? Thanks

I remember the old RV2 videos that used to be on your channel but can't find them now. did you have an oil consumption problem with the rv2? did you do any mods to help with this if you did have oil consumption problems as well? I'm also going to use the rv2 and heard that a York serpentine clutch works on the tapered rv2 shaft. I was curious if you know if the tapered shafts are the same ? Love your videos!
@itchyoldfart
@itchyoldfart 3 года назад
Thank you brother...No oil consumption at all with the old R V-2, so nothing to mod...Ran it for 2 years with 1 inch of oil in the crank, never lost any.....I never compared the RV2 shaft with the York.. I googled RV2 compressor serpentine pulley and didnt find anything so I gave up.....my bad...lol

@@itchyoldfart That's good to hear! I was bench testing the compressor I just got and had some oil mist on a rag when I used a drill to spin it over. Perhaps it's just residual from me flushing out the old oil a bunch of times to get the oil clean. google search has been kind of a wash with the serpentine pulley. Only found the one guy that said one can use a diesel truck York serpentine pulley because tapered shafts ar the same. I believe that some Volvo's in the 90's came with yorks and serpentines as well. I think I'll have to take the gamble and order up an eBay setup for $75-100. Just can't stand the old small block chevy v-belt power steering squeal I hear on so many rigs with that setup. that'd drive me nuts! Thanks for the reply!

@itchyoldfart
@itchyoldfart 4 года назад
Yes...it has decreased oil consumption quite a bit... I haven't had it out too much since covid 19 hit... It still uses some oil, maybe an ounce every 8 hours... The big plus being able to monitor the oil level, and add it to it when it needs it...
