though for the oil issue, use a needle valve like in a carb with a backing spring so that it seals when the compressor is not running but then when it pulls suction on the inlet it will open the valve and suck oil from a reservoir
for a dust cover for your air quick connects you can get the little rubber foot that is made to go on the bottom of a chair or table leg, some folks use them on the foot of their cane or walker. i bought some at lowes for a few bucks. i think there were two different sizes so make sure to get the right one.
You can solve the lubrication issue by simply T-ing a line off of your crank case breather into the compressor inlet. That way you get oil vapor through the compressor whenever the engine is warm and running.
Instead of air filter and oiling. I'm thinking of tapping into valve cover and it will suck engine oil vapour and hopefully some clean air from air filter if I do it close to the breather hose. Now feel free to shoot my idea down. And I don't really have an issue with some blow by going through my airtools or in my tyres compared to the convenience of not having to oil or worry about a dirty filter.
Hi, is it work for long time?Is it going to have trouble without oil? I like to do an air compressor with tank. to use, for example inflate the wheel. Thanks. sorry my english.
I'm building a service truck from a 74 f250 body with 391ft(not fe) engine with gm TBI fuel injection and I have an old piston style ac compressor from a late 60/early 70 Ford something that pumps out extremely impressively (it's also huge and weighs about 40+ pounds) and plan to run retired c02 tanks under the service bed wired electrical just like you did do you think this would run air impacts and air ratchets pretty good? I know my compressor flows alot more than the one you are using ( but the also take alot more space and Rob at least double the power from the engine the thing looks like a single cylinder Briggs and Stratton tiller engine),fantastic idea and fabrication on the idle up as well btw.
you will blow through the whole tank in less than a minute with a decent sized impact with tools its not really about the pressure of air but the volume of air
@@imchris5000 I completed the project a while back, yes it does drain down significantly faster than it builds up but it works ok for what I need dealing with flat tires and impact occasionally however I now have a good and strong battery impact so I use that about as much as I don't and I use air ratchet occasionally and a small nail gun,it's basically for in the field/ on the farm repairs and such, for full-time service use I would recommend purchasing a gas powered unit to mount on your truck obviously, it was just an interesting project I wanted to do, I did go back and make it 1 tank with a skid plate to speed up the build up time and it works well enough for my needs with it .
Before I would have to either drag equipment 40 acres or so from the barn up to the shop ( not much of an option if it's been raining) or I would have to fill my mobile compressor and take it down hoping it had enough to do whatever issue I was addressing as there is no power down there I was looking to purchase a flatbed mounted unit but had all this crap laying around and decided to do something with it and it makes that scenario alot more convenient, I actually have a new idea in mind I have not started yet but I have an aircooled vw engine I have considered fixing and mount on one of those $200 harbor freight trailers with a twin cylinder airpump from harbor freight setup like my current on board unit and a 10000watt generator head I seen on harbor freight website and having mobile air and significant power for the farm, it would be around $800-$1000 to build that setup if I decide to do it.
I think this is exactly what I need except I can't be adding oil, every time I start the engine... do you have any Ideas for an automatic oiler? I need this to pump up airbag suspension on my RV. and the air ride driver's seat. Not that much air but still necessary, do you know if there is such a thing?
You can tear the pump down and add grease and you don’t have to add oil everytime. People have done automatic oil systems as well. I don’t use it often so adding a little oil when I air up tires isn’t a big deal for me
Just buy a viair electric pump and leave it in the rv. WRT to oiling. The only time the pump is running is when the clutch is on so you can squirt oil in just before airing up. Otherwise the pump is not Turing until the clutch is on.
It would be cool to make a reservoir that you could fill with oil then just have a valve that allows small amounts of oil to enter the compressor as it operates
No ac code #33 ha I figured that out when I went on a mission to pull my own codes. Everyone told me I needed a obd1 scanner nope u can pull Ur codes by turning the key on off on off then on again. The engine light will flash Ur codes. I watched videos n researched to figure that out. Code 12 means Ur battery has been disconnected in the last 50 starts then 5 flashes n 5 flashes means end if codes. My problem I had 3 extra codes which I wrote down n figured out it was running to cold which it was dumping to much gas dumping in and stalling out. It ended up being the coolant temperature sensor. Is in 3 months no one can figure it out not a garage I mechanic nobody I talk to so many people I went on a mission I figured it out myself.
@@jtmoffroad Could easily eliminate the extra valves for isolation. It's just hose clamps, disconnect and swap as needed. Worst case keep a barbed connector zip tied to hose so it never gets lost. Take out the whole Tee and everything.
Do the steel hose,Harbor freight is cool, but not on a jeep you could loose you right to wave ,like if you got an 81 pinto or a Chevy Citation,, yea yea harbor totally or a Toyota any of that junk ,,not on a jeep'''I say It..... Harbor freight is for girls....unless you need zip ties or a free multi meter.
Haha I know what you’re saying but it’s all in what you wanna do. The concept is just a cool idea to me. Using one thing and making it useful for another. 👍🏻
An air compressor will not only fill your tires back up in a hurry (a lot faster than a 12v plug in compressor), but you can run air tools- like changing or rotating your tires. You may even be able to reset the bead of a tire (if you aired down too much and popped the bead off) if your air system has a tank reservoir. Overall, a very handy item to have on your offroad vehicle.
