Domain I: Competency 002 Diversity Continued 

Knowing our students especially our ELL students is very important in the classroom. Knowing them and our other students will help us as teachers to know what they need to be successful.

I think domain 1 &2 may be the most challenging for me on the exam but these breakdowns are helping me feel better

So far being in the classroom and watching this video I'm getting better to understand what this competency is teaching us.

The continued importance of diversity is stated well here

If we can find different ways to teach and show information to the students the more success we can have! Not only being mindful of the diversity of our students, but being diverse in the ways that we teach is a major key to teaching success!!

Cohesiveness, scaffolding and having constructive feedback, and being responsible is key in the classroom. Data driven assessments drive us as teachers to create vivid, vibrant lessons that meet the students needs and requirements. Diversity in the classroom, will always be something us as teacher will have to prepare for, understand, and eventually meet all the needs of the students. This competency to me is very important and essential for our success!

I want to share a diversity adaptation I started implementing in my 4th grade classroom to teach them about history, specifically ancient civilizations, Rome and Egypt. Since most of my students love information in the form of gossip (chisme) I started handling a class conversation about the historical drama with Cleopatra and the Roman Empire that went on after the assassination pf Julius Cesar. My students loved it that they basically conducted the whole class conversation by themselves and at the end they didn’t want to leave the classroom for lunch.

This is just the continuation of the previous video of diversity.
