In order to hold the attention and show that we care for the students, we have to know our lesson plan inside and out and show confidence in teaching it. The moment we lose confidence in it and show that we don't know all of what we are doing, we will lose the students. Be confident in yourself and show that you know what you're doing!

The video of the 4th grade math teacher was a great example of good lesson planning and instruction. She started off the students by having them read the objectives. It's important for students not only to know what they will be learning but how they will be learning. She did a great job with that. It was a fun and engaging activity with partners and a great way to informally assess her students.

When planning a lesson, as a teacher one must know their strengths and learning patterns, and plan the lesson to where the students benefit the most. I try to form schema with every lesson, I throw in something of the previous lesson in hopes they make the connection and work from there. Higher order thinking, problem solving are things I teach my students, I give them these types of questions so that they can try to solve them using their best practice, especially when they work in groups or partners. Meeting their needs, in every which way possible is my aim in hopes they understand my lesson. Once, they are done with their work, this is where I assess them by asking questions to them and based on their answers I create my next lesson.

For the grade I teach our lessons are already planned out for us. They give us every tool and instruction on how to do each lesson. But I always find it very easy to try and change the lessons due to some students learning ability and how to adapt them to want to engage with the lessons being taught. It’s also great to get together with your team to get different ideas on how to improve or teach the lessons.
