Halat was driving JR's Mercedes to and from the Angola prison where JR was incarcerated when this went down. It took a few years to solve this case. JR's Dad was a Oklahoma Appellate Court Judge at the time and stepped down from the bench to represent JR. NOW, that's a good dad, regardless.
I did 13 months @ the USP in Florence, CO ...with JR 3 doors away. I know him very well. Things that are not in this video, JR told me everything. Screw those other videos with actors playing the parts ....this video has all of the actual individuals who were involved. Halat eventually was convicted and went to prison, but he is out today. He did a TV interview after he got out and still lied , then ?
One of my favorite shows. Thanks so much for the uploads. Even in Atlanta folks were following the case and Kirksey Nix was suspected of having a hand in the death of Buford Pusser. Though there had been a number of witnesses to Sheriff Pusser's drinking prior to his death in a single car accident.
t4705mb6 I have never been to Mississippi. ..why is it a state to avoid? As a nonAmerican who enjoys visiting different parts of the US, I'm very curious and appreciate inside info and advice.
Weirder still, when you grew-up hearing about marvelous wonders that awaited us all in the far off, *_"21st Century !"_* Personally, I'm still waiting for that _Jet-Pack_ they promised me, back in the 60s.
Xiaomin L Feador : It WAS justice. There was NO evidence to support a murder charge against anyone but the shooter. It was extraordinary to get a conspiracy conviction. We were grateful. Pete's political career was over, his legal career was over, his reputation was shredded, and his life is now a big bunch of nothing.
Gayle Baker But he WAS found guilt of conspiracy of the Sherry murders, wasnt he? Then a 16 prison time for killing two people is hardly justice. I have no doubt whatsoever if this asshole is given another chance, he will kill again.
Xiaomin L Feador : I just said he was convicted of conspiracy. He won't be "killing anyone again" because he didn't kill Margaret and Vince. The triggerman was convicted of murder and died in prison. There was ZERO evidence to put Pete at the scene. Pete did not hire anyone to kill the Sherrys. Kirksey Nix did that. Pete's a sniveling coward, but he didn't pull the trigger. That's why it was a miracle that he was convicted of conspiracy. Pete had a gambling problem. He spent Nix's money. When Nix asked where his money was, Pete said, "Vince stole it." Nix hired a hitman. What Pete did was pretty bad, but it's not enough for a murder conviction. Pete is toast with the Dixie Mafia and will probably spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder, just like LaRa Sharp.
www.wlox.com/story/22060209/former-biloxi-mayor-pete-halat-is-a-free-man A 16 year sentence for scam and conspiracy of a double murder. American "justice" served.
There is a saying here , "You have to have a Godfather to ge baptized ". Powerful people buy the justice to get away with anything illigal, including murder. They can buy poor people with the promise to support their families. It is being done.
UH .... UH... UH.... BilUHxi, stupid narrator!!!!!!! It doesn't rhyme with 'lox', 'fox', 'pox', or 'box'. It rhymes with 'fuck', 'buck', 'muck', and 'DUH'. And if you're incapable of making the 'uh sound', you really have no business in front of a microphone. Anyway, BilUUUUUUHHHHHXI's a sleazy place from top to bottom. People from the rest of that state won't even go there. It's never been anything but a sordid place where broken-down old men from Mobile and New Orleans went, to rent scroungy hookers, drink, and gamble. It's been known, for GENERATIONS, that nothing happens there, that is not controlled by organized crime.
Leopararouen That's about what I've heard, all my life! I grew up in Construction, and we were told, by any contractor/developer/builder who'd ever worked on 'The Coast', to never, never, EVER do any work down there - even for a nonprofit, because EVERYBODY is corrupt. Currently, the big scandal in that area is the looting of the pension funds for the 'Singing River Healthcare System' (hospitals, clinics, etc.). It's rather clear who made the money 'disappear', and yet nobody in authority will do anything about it. Nobody's being punished. The money's just gone. And that's just bidnis as usual.
Even all the way up to Chicago were told the same darned thing!! Funny how word gets around about a city like Biloxi, huh?? My family, back in the early 80's, passed through Biloxi and didn't even stop for a pee break or even for gas, because we didn't want to get robbed, mugged or even shot at down there. I feel bad for those who actually do live with the rep that Biloxi has. I bet it was a sweet city way, way, way back in the day.
Katherine Monroe I think you'd have to go WAY back, to find a sweet place. There was a very nice Indian tribe who lived there. But the Spaniards teamed-up with a nasty tribe, and the nice tribe was driven to commit mass suicide, by holding hands and marching into the river. To this day, it's called the 'Singing River'. Since then, it's pretty-much been a scroungy place. I'm amazed, though, that even Chicagoans knew about Biloxi, considering how absolutely insignificant it is.
Bunny Biedenharn I was wondering why that river was called "Singing River." Thanks for letting me know that piece of history and it's sad that the good Native Americans were forced to commit mass suicide because of the bad Native Americans. Oh yes, trust me, word spreads like wild fire when something is considered to be a bad place to go or live in. Biloxi may seem insignificant but it's not considered that it's a part of history, you know? I think, but not too sure, that some of my relatives lived by there back in the 70's. I know that my paternal grandfather knew what was going on down there, because he had "connections" that had "business" there. Exactly what it was, I really don't know for sure.
