You made me laugh. I also will not be wearing cropped tops or low rise denim. It's a bit too much to share with the public. 😁 Trends are fine to buy if they fit with our wardrobe and esthetic, but we're best served by wearing what suits us. I'd rather look well put together and classy than trendy.

I use a mini skirt as an extender under a too short top so I can wear leggings or slim leg pants. It make it tunic length.

Definitely with you on the sequins! Sometimes I think the designers are so out of ideas that they’re desperately clutching at anything to make us buy clothes. Sequins just remind me of the glitz of 1980s American TV shows. 🥴

The rise of jeans depends on your body type. High rise can be incredibly frumpy and unflattering and make you look huge with no shape. I’m very petite at 5’1 with a slim waist so medium/lower rise jeans are my best friend. Just because I’m 55 I do not intend to succumb to frumpy high waisted jeans as they look hideous on me and age me. It’s all about body shape and what suits you.

I am 5'2" as well, and I am so with you on the puffer jacket!! It's a great time to wear jeans, because even though low rise is more on trend currently, all styles and fits of denim are still sold, so basically anything goes!!

Love your interesting and thoughtful comments on fashion trends as they relate to “older” women. I’m tall and on the thinner end of the spectrum but there are areas of my body that I definitely do not want to display (knees, upper arms, décolletage, etc.). Can't wait for low rise to come back! I find high rise so uncomfortable - I can tuck the waistband into my bra, that's not right 😱 I'm a similar age to you, so I think this is a body proportion/size thing, rather than 'I'm too old for this' 🤣🤣

Plus a tummy thing. Mid rise are best for me otherwise my tummy hangs over a low rise having had a recent tummy op. High rise give me a big tummy and rear too.

I agree about being thoughtful with your purchases and what will be around for the long haul. One trend I do like is the tailored trouser, I’m 5’4 and they work well for me, channeling the Catherine Hepburn vibe. Last summer I bought some tailored linen trousers and they were my most worn item of clothing for out and about. They are so easy to dress up and down. Cargo pants are a yes too. It’s very hot and mosquito infested in the summer where I live so they are are life saver. Long skirts is one I’ll say yes to, too.

😆 I agree with you on almost everything you won't be wearing and will be wearing. No lowriders or crop tops or loud colors or whacky prints in my near or far future. I don't do sequins at any time of the day so that is where we differ lol. Glam Grunge, that is the perfect name for the style I embrace which is almost identical to yours 😉

Do you think the trends that you mentioned that you will "not be wearing" are actually for the very young woman? I totally feel that way as I am a more mature woman. Those styles cater to a youthful & more playful silhouette in my opinion & don't really do any mature women a favor!!! Thank so much 💟💜💟

Someone else commented on my skin. Strangely on this day i was in agony with back ache. I had to cut so much of the video ss it was full of moans and groans re twanged back. As for skin i can only say maybe its my foundation which in a no7 one called lumimaire or something like that.

I like the High Rise jeans. I hate the low jeans and the fat roll floppy over the top. The normal rise is more flattering.

Yes me too. High rise with elastane just makes a rounded belly. Mid rise is much better. High rise only without elastane. And as for low rise, I'm not even going there 😄. I think im repeating what i said in the video.

Hi I’m this video it was newly trimmed. All I did was let it dry naturally and part it at the side. The back is shorter than the front so it’s an angled bob. Slanting shape sideways view.

I love cropped jackets, but at age 69 and only 4’10”, puffer jackets look absolutely awful on me. They make me look like I’m wrapped in bubble wrap! I agree..bare midriff is a huge no no for me as well! I do often wear crop tops as long as there is no skin showing between top and pants. There are just some things I would not subject the general public to having to see…😬! Oh my gosh…orange is my power color! That is a color I always receive compliments on. I, also, don’t look good in all white..my skin tone just doesn’t support it. I embrace most lengths of skirts especially maxi, midi, and mini. With the right accessories, these lengths can look awesome! My favorite cool weather outfit….black ribbed mini tank dress, black tights, Doc Marten combat boots, and charcoal gray men’s jacket. For warm months, I wear the same tank dress but switch out the jacket for an oversized white shirt, choose either sandals, sneakers, or low wedges for footwear. Knee length dresses/skirts don’t really work well on my form…they seem to just cut me in half. Finding the right outfits for this little munchkin body can certainly present challenges! I often throw all style rules to the wind and create looks that make me feel confident and, sometimes, a little quirky! 🤪🤗…it’s just fashion…I try not to always take it so seriously.

Interesting. 👍Some awful trends which I certainly won’t be embracing either. I like maxis but they are usually too long, as in dragging on the floor🤷‍♀️. I actually found the out of trend midi made a good maxi on me! Butterflies? I like that. I shouldn’t need any more clothes for years, judging from what I have, but I’m sure I will be tempted.
