Don't believe these skin myths! I used to believe them too, so I thought I'd correct these misconceptions about skin and skincare that I think many still continue to believe to be true!
I thought about 7 but if you want to add more or ask about something you think is also a myth, please put them all in the comments section below!
This video serves to educate and give information about anything related to skin and skincare and shall in no way take the place of a proper consultation with an expert, such as a board-certified dermatologist.

Hi Doc! First myth is really mind blowing for me. On a similar note, does drinking coffee or wine (often) also affect your skin's moisture level?

Hehe dba? Alcohol can dehydrate the skin if you take too much according to literature :)

New subscriber . Love your content doctor Gaile. I have a question as someone who is trying to conceive . Is Vitamin C safe for pregnant women ? Can I use a vitamin C serum in the morning before my sunscreen or would you advise against using it ? Also, is rosehip oil safe for pregnant women ?

Thank you :) Vitamin c is safe to use when pregnant. As for rosehip oil no studies have been done however absorption into the bloodstream is likely insignificant to cause any problems to the unborn child. :)

@@irenegaile Dr guide me plzzzz.. I have spider veins around nose.. Pigmentation on chicks.. Open Pores also there.. Color is becoming dull due to sun damage.. Using sunscreen.. But unable to restore and protect my skin.. Suggest some quick solution that is easily available in pakistan.... Vitamin c or harsh products dnt suit me.. Skin becoming too much sensitive guide Plzzzzzzzz...

Hi Doc! Just want to ask if it's also a myth that we we shouldn't use the same skincare products for a long time as our skin may get too used to it, and may not be that effective anymore? Thank you Doc!! 💕

Our skin doesn't "get used to" skincare products. More often than not it is our skin that changes. For instance when we get older, we may become less oily and more dry. Or it may also be that our habits, lifestyle and environment changed. :)

Ung predisposition to having varicose veins is genetic. But meron naman ways on how to minimize the risk. You gave me an idea for another video :) thank you!

If you ask me, unless he/she is experiencing acne, i wouldnt recommend using AHAs that young kc ok pa naman ang skin turnover at that age and theres really no need to exfoliate just yet. If may acne naman na mild lng, there are otc products that can be used - please check out the video i made on this. If moderate to severe acne, best to consult a dermatologist.

Yes kc walang standards and regulations. It just means that the product is less-likely to cause allergies.

Anti-dandruff shampoos usually address dandruff sufficiently. If it doesn’t improve, I suggest you go to a dermatologist for consult:)

My understanding is Dry skin is different from Dehydrated skin.

Yes. Dry skin is a skin type- one wherein the oil glands produce less sebum than normal whereas dehydration is lacking water for instance in those experiencing too much water loss due to a compromised barrier. Any skin type can br dehydrated - normal, oily, dry or combination. Although a lot the skin characteristics of both dry and dehydrated skin can overlap.

Para sakin mas ok gumamit ng mga soap-free and gentle cleansers sa mukha, ung hindi feeling banat or tuyo ung baalt pagkatapos maghilamos. Pwede dn naman pareho ng panghugas ng mukha at katawan kung soap-free at mild ang gagamitin mo.

Hi doc about varicose po when i was young they told me never wash your feet and legs lalo na pag galing sa school kase nakaka cause daw ng varicose, sinunod ko eh ngayon yung varicose sa legs ko parang corned beef :D lol :) mana lang pala sa mama ko.

bars are different from soaps, usually syndet bars have neutral pH which is ok to use IMO

Ung flaky scalp can be due to one of several things -- dry scalp, shampoo na hindi properly washed off, fungi. Best to consult :)
