We’ve had ours going on 7 years and so far only issue is replacing a light and the ocasional filter. No issues here but then again, we don’t bang our appliance like this guy did nor do we slam drawers ! So far so good on our end. Just keep up with maintenance. Be good to it and it will be good to you.
You are SPOT ON. We have had ours since 2016. I am having issues with ice build up behind top drawers and had to have a tech come and melt the ice. The ice maker has been replaced within 3 years, the control panel on the left drawer went out, the icemaker motor is totallly out now and it will not cool below 50 degrees.
We had the same issue with ice buildup behind the drawers. Needed to replace a fan which turned out to be quite easy. However, my husband ended up doing it himself because our warranty service co was horrible.
Next time instead of calling the repairman unplugged the refrigerator for 24 hours and then it will work again. raise the temperature on the fridge I do this with my refrigerator at least once a year.
lol no issues with mine what so ever. It’s even outlasted a GE refrigerator that we have as well. Had this kitchen aid fridge for about 8-9yrs without a single issue.
Don’t take it out on the fridge. I’m a tech, all of them have issues. Most of those are misdiagnosed. They are actually not bad. One design flaw , the deli board under the Icemaker

Agreed. Every electro-mechanical device will eventually break down. I just put two new water intake valves and the evaporative assembly on my KRFC704 and it's good as new now. The fridge stopped cooling but it was an easy fix.
Have this refrigerator. Had issues with lights, freezer not freezing, fridge not cold enough, water, and ice not working. Lowe’s gave me full credit but after several RU-vid videos someone made a comment of the produce panel of the vegetable tray is unplugged it will work except the freezer does not freeze but it is really cold. That panel had green debris and one little wire to connection was cut/not attached which caused majority of issues. I unplugged and put electrical tape.🎉
You are right on spot! Ours is just 3 years old and it is a mess. Cannot get anything to work - just died! And being in Canada we paid much more for this terrible fridge. Looks are very deceiving.
Yes, electronics issues on that KitchenAid fridge. I have one just like that. It started having problems cooling and the internal lights sometimes wouldn't work. I tracked the problem down to a little circuit board inside the left drawer. Just pop out the control panel on the top of the drawer then disconnect the cable from the circuit board. This fixed the lights and cooling issues for the entire fridge. The drawer still stays cold and only loses the capability to set that drawer to some different temp. The fridge is 8 years old now. There is some leaking of the ice maker and has condensation build up underneath the drawers at times. But, it's all minor and better than rolling the dice on a new fridge that might have similar issues. I don't think there is any particular fridge that is bullet proof.
You are not lying! I wish I saw this before I purchased it. We regret buying this , we’re Going on 5 years and still having problems with it. On the 3rd year it quit on us.. I don’t recommend kitchen-aid refrigerator!
Had it for 6 years, the first issue is the ice dispenser is an oval shape, but cups are round. No matter what it sprays ice shards outside the cup (for crushed ice). So far it developed a leak at the back where the water line goes in, we had to replace a circuit board for the pull out drawer that was causing malfunctions to the entire fridge, the ice maker can’t keep up in the summer, and I’m currently trying to figure out why water is pooling under the drawers and bottom of the freezer. It’s not a great fridge.
I wonder if these unit’s computer is set to the default “as needed” defrost cycle vs the old fashioned “timed defrost” cycle that causes the freezing issues in the KRFC704FPS units. My KRFC704FPS was changed 5 years ago to the timed defrost cycle where it’ll defrost regularly whether it needs it or not. Zero problems. The “as needed” default setting for energy efficiency sucks and it doesn’t work in these KA fridges…causes the ice buildup problems. To help lower the risks of leaks, install a restrictor on the water line. For some reason, these KAs can’t handle the pressure from the wall in many homes. Excess pressure causes ice maker problems also. I also thought the wiring was fixed in later models?
Just got this fridge and so far the problem we have on day one is an eratic water stream. All these years and they havent fixed this. I am very worried about the future of this fridge.
I solved my leaky ice maker in my KitchenAid refrigerator by extending the length of water refill tube (inside the ice maker mechanism compartment) with a short piece of food safe plastic tubing and some small zip ties. Now the water flows directly into the ice cube tray with no more splattering or dripping. 😊
I should’ve had watched this sooner we bought it and now the light stopped working inside of it and a lot of other things happens and stop being like cold😢
My lights went out too. I was so upset because it was one of the reasons I bought this fridge. Eventually, I found out that it's like an old Christmas light string...if one of the lights in the freezer goes out a bunch of them will as well. I got an 9ff brand replacement and lights all work fine. I've had the same problems stated here with my fridge as well. The ice maker does get solved by unplugging so the ice behind the drawers melted and it'll work again. 🤦♀️
I agree with you, I had all that problems you mentioned and on top of that the water thingy in the back of the fridge exploded and water leaked into the basement which destroyed the ceiling and the carpet! It caused a huge damage over all. It was poorly made for the price we paid!
I have the same fridge and that’s why I’m here… bought it five yrs ago it was all good in the first four years, but all of a sudden I’m experiencing all the problems you just mentioned in the Video this year , so frustrating, paid over 4K for this shit.
I have a very similar model. Died on us after 3 years. The extended warranty is going to replace it with exactly the same one! Is there any way that I can convince them to buy another brand?
Actually, aside from the common problems with that fridge, it's a really good one. Very accurate Temps. Icemakers on all Makes are problematic. Stay away from LG & Samsung refrigerators
I have this and the worst mistake. Thankfully it was a housewarming gift so we did t have to pay. It’s broken down on us several times. Not even 4 years old .
I’ve had 2 of these. The first one had no issues and I sold it with my home. The 2nd one has been a pain in the a**. Freezer keeps building up ice on evaporator coil…. Getting ready to replace thermistor and defrost heating element.
Its almost never those things. If defrost isnt receing 120V its your control board. It may also have a defrost thermostat, cant remembered off the top of my head since i work on all brands
I just bought a simple 2door frezzer on bottom all my food is frezzing on lowest setting kitchen aid won’t help me and it only 6 days old been having issue since day 1
Just had one installed. The compressor is louder that my Grammas nebulizer! Also the doors are misaligned and the installer said there is no adjustments. I've checked, I can get it straight horizontally but not vertically. Also the ice maker isn't working properly.
You adjust it by repositioning the Hinges on the top of the doors. Loosen the screws and there is slack to move it left and right. Once you have it where it is equally spaced, tighten the screws back down keeping the door held in place.
I have to pull everything from my kitchen aid fridge about every four weeks cause the frost build up on the coils and this was even after the supposed front panel controller fix was done. Horrible line of products. My microwave of the same line has already blown its magnetron. I think Home Depot dropped them as a line as well. Not sure if reliability had to do with that. I just want a fridge that works. Not too big on features. Just space and dependable is all I want.
I hate this refrigerator!! We thought we got a lemon. But there are SO many people with the same problems we’re having. Ours are happening almost daily now. We’ve had this fridge for under 2 years. There is ALWAYS something wrong. The leaky icemaker, the lights turning off and having to reset power CONSTANTLY (so often that we bought an extension cord especially for the fridge to keep the connection at the top since we had to restart it every other day and got sick of pulling the thing out away from the wall, the freezer only freezing stuff hard in the top drawers but not the bottom section, noisy knocking sounds, the door surfaces are SO weak you can easily dent them just by looking at it…it’s just the WORST appliance we’ve ever had.
We had this refrigerator for about five years.. terrible experience, nightmare.. upper cabinet wouldn’t cool down.. kitchen aid admitted that it’s not repairable.. we had to throw it in the garbage. As simple as that!
I have had my fridge fixed for 6 years now. 6 years!!! Sometimes twice a year. We lose so much food. Our fridge is no longer under warranty. So now we had to pay $430 to get it fixed for about 9 months. Do NOT but this fridge.
This frige has been nothing but problems iced stopped working or keeps leaking on the meat drawer which causes entire fridge to glitch. I feel like a fridge shouldn’t need so many parts replace why aren’t they built to last
5 year extended warranty refunded the full cost of this refrigerator after multiple issues. Those middle drawer seals went bad, which caused all kinds of issues. We loved the internal depth of it, though. Don't buy it!
4 service tickets in 2 years of having this unit. Lowe’s finally gave me my money back. Beautiful unit, but it became a $4,000 mistake. 1st failure - Water valve failed. 2nd failure - Ice maker failed. 3rd failure - Freezer coil froze up completely. Defrost function stopped working. Drain line frozen, and unit filled up with water. 4th failure - Evaporator fan failed and refrigerator lost cooling.
We have this exact model and I concur that it is an overpriced pile of crap! We got our in 2016 and paid $5,000 CAN for it. Nothing but issues. Water dispenser sprays water everywhere, the icemaker failed due to a loose wire harness behind the left drawer and now, just this week, the ceiling lights stopped working! I have never had this many problems with a refrigerator, nor have I ever had such push back from the manufacturer. BUYER BEWARE!!
There’s still not as bad as Samsung or LG but I feel your pain. Statistically 30% of all fridges fail within five years. French door fridges are probably within three years. 😮😢i’m working on my second one. 😂😂😂 I guess that makes me a moron.
Both my Samsung and LG came with 10 year warranties on the compressor. They're the only fridges I haven't had problems with. They're both French door. Both made it past 5 years without a single issue.
@@quelrods My french door samsung even with the icemaker turned off needs to be manually defrosted nearly monthly and it's a rather common issue with no clear solution. Leaks all over the floor randomly too. YMMV I guess.

I have a similar fridge but mine is the KRFC704 with the 3 doors and ice/water and it’s nothing but a POS. It lasted for a few months. Needs a compressor and control board the tech told me. STAY AWAY from kitchen aid
