Oh man, I know the feeling 😭 I knocked (well, pulled... there's a story) my tripod and vlogging camera over and it took 5 weeks to repair. Glad everything is on it's way to being sorted, and so good that Pete lent you a lens in the meantime!!

Oh man, that sucks. Sorry to hear about your lens. Glad you have it off to be fixed but the waiting, and the extra waiting nowadays, is the hardest part. I'm no stranger to breaking camera gear so I definitely feel your pain. My vlogging camera now goes on a very sturdy tripod. I used to use a really light, carbon fiber tripod for it but...lesson learned. Hopefully you are back in action soon. Have a great weekend mate, take care.

Oh no! 😢 So sorry about your lens. My experience with Fujifilm repair in the US was painfully slow. I bought a replacement body for our trip to Ireland because of the repair delay.

Oh no! That would suck, especially before a trip. It is super slow adding on the logistics delays we have here in Aus due to protests, and limited work force due to Covid restrictions. Thanks for watching mate

Unlucky mate. I think we've all been there. I shot a video on doing a time lapse with the FZ82. I had the camera set up on one of those PoS, cheap tripods from Amazon (it was a gift!) and watched it blow over in the wind, luckily I was close enough to get my hand under the lens before it hit the ground, no damage done but cut my time lapse short, then it rained - that was the cue to pack up and go home. I hope the repair works out. Looking forward to another rainforest vlog.

I didn’t even think to ask you how it happened few weeks ago BUT this is the exact same tripod I had when my A7III fell into the river 3 years ago! I can’t believe it! Nice of Pete to lend you his lens! Hopefully it’s all back in order soon mate!

i am sorry for you mate! I know these kind of issues! Never happened to me on a tripod. But i dropped my Fujix100v on beton while i was walking on a parking lot in Cayenne. The camera strap got loosed by itself ... The Metal was really badly bended but it still works! Things that happen, just keep up!!

I feel your pain, similar thing happened to me not securing my XT3 and 10-24 to the baseplate which was attached to a shoulder strap. I did some research recently and you may want to also look at the weight rating for your tripod as well as perhaps looking at how to weight down the tripod as well.

Sucks hey! It was in the weight limit, pretty Sure the issue was related to me not fully extending the legs evenly 😂 and this tripod I use for vlogging (not my main landscape one) doesn’t have hooks for hanging bags etc. shame. It’s light but … average. Thanks for watching mate

I feel your pain! I’ve broken two lenses in similar circumstances in the last year. The second one was just like yours where the lens’ mount stayed attached to the camera. Nightmare! Hope it gets fixed for you.

Glad to hear you've got a loner lens to get back out there! Hopefully it won't be too much longer, though from my experience repairs taking 3-4 weeks is not unusual.

I had a similar occurrence. My Fuji XT2 mounted with a heavy 50-140 lens, fell from my lap to a carpeted floor. The lens mounting snapped in the same way. As in your case, Fujifilm Australia was very helpful in repairing the lens.

@@RauriBarron _ about four weeks. I took the camera into Fuji's Melbourne office and they looked after sending it to Sydney for repair and returning it to their Melbourne office. This saved me the shipping costs.

Sorry to hear of your mishap Rauri. Last year I dropped a Fuji lens at Uluru. Heartbreaking. I've just got back from the Barrier Reef and found that I had inadvertently left a Tiffen Pro-Mist filter on my lens that has tainted the colour in all my shots. Blah...

Yeah! This was for my vlogging camera back in the day when I used a canon m50, I think the extra weight of the Fuji xt4 and larger lens was a bit much, since then I’m using my KF carbon fiber for vlogging, and my main landscape one is a Benro. 👍 thanks for watching 😊

I had my Osmo Pocket plus tripod topple over - twice! - on a recent outing to create some content, and somehow the Osmo still works! Just a gimble error on it that only took a switch-off-and-switch-on to correct each time. I've seen loads of RU-vidrs have exactly this kind of thing happen and every time my heart goes out to them. I'm sure that this will be the first and last time Rauri - put it down to experience, modify your approach to setting up and checking the tripod, and move on. I've also got a GoPro Hero7 but I don't use it that much - it is more of a backup to the Osmo if that ever has an issue. Nice piece of kit though. Hope the repair gets sorted soon for you sir. Sorry to hear mate. Definitely an important lesson. I break stuff all the time. Every time almost haha! What happened to you, happened to me in Japan and how I lost my Nikon D800. Straight into water, GULP! Welcome to the wonderful world of trying to vlog/be a photographer/director/camera operator/sound operator all at the same time. Cheers mate 🙏

Thanks Craig! I hope the body is still good, seems to be working fine, I’ve used it for photo and video since, although noticed out of maybe 20 video files one had some corruption… not sure the cause. I wish it was crash resistant. Maybe need some bubble wrap 😂

Dude! I have two tripods depending on the weather and where/how far I'm going. I used the lighter K&F Concept travel tripod in Scotland for hiking with the calm days. On windy days and where I'm just roaming around the forest I'll use my sturdier Three legged thing Winston 2. I'm very carful with the R5! Rather than a GoPro take a look at the DJI Pocket 2 - it's what I use to vlog with.

Funny you mention the K&F as I’m now considering using my carbon fiber KF for my vlog camera instead of the Manfrotto compact, it’s a bit sturdier! Does the Pocket have the same water proof and time lapse features the GoPro has? They’re what really attract me to GoPro.

Haha thanks Ralph - yeah slowly earning some cents now 😁 Sensor seems fine fortunately, I've used it a bit since - photos and video on the lens I've borrowed and it seems to be working...although I had an issue with one video file glitching, not sure why that happened.

Man, how annoying! You should have put your hand up earlier for one of my GoPros! I would have happily given you one. My youngest daughter is getting back into RU-vid after quitting a year ago (still has 100k subs!), so I gave her my 3rd one. Chin up, mate. You’ll return bigger and better than ever! 👍

Thanks mate. Keen to get it back from repair, but in the meantime the 18-55mm has surprised me, affordable sharp and great autofocus compared to other Fuji lenses. Yeah thanks mate - at the time I saw your video I was budgeting to pick up a GoPro before this happened 😂 Wish your daughter all the best, those are some impressive numbers, you’ll overtake her soon 😉

@@RauriBarron Yeah, it’s a bugger. Years ago, I was shooting the very first HSV Clubsport at Calder Raceway with racing legend, John Harvey, when he crested the hump, got sideways, and ran off the track - straight over my whole bag of Nikon gear. Destroyed it all!

@@RauriBarron I have so many stories about my days shooting cars and motorcycles for magazines. It's only recently that I've come to appreciate just how lucky I was back them: driving my first Lambo on P-plates, having my own chopper for 3 days on the Australian Safari; dining with Wayne Gardner, Mick Doohan and Wayne Rainey; learning how to drive with Alan Jones, Peter Brock and Jim Richards; shooting an F40 Ferrari - it was all quite amazing.

Ah gutted for you mate, I had a great wide angle sigma lens once and when I returned from Norway there was so much moisture in the front element it looked like it had a face!! 😂 It happens, remember my Edinburgh meltdown?

Thanks mate haha yeah! I need to use a better tripod for my video camera I think now. I use this manfrotto for my old canon m50 but with the xt4 I may start using the KF carbon fibre. And strap some bricks to it 😂
