I have a lot of units out there with plugged bypass valves. Not one ever has had any kind of issue. That includes many in very, very cold climates. The fluid is already thermostatically controlled by the coolant system. The same way that has been effective for the last 60+ years. Love the one you all have for the 6R80. I use one in every unit. But the GM 6L I'll continue with what has worked flawlessly for years.

thank you for using the STL020 on the 6R fords. And, I do understand your good intentions to save your customer a buck, so on most of the GM styles, most are stuck to some degree. how many have you pulled out and tested to see if they were stuck? our results out of 25...were 19 stuck or not fully opened. Easy test; just drop them in boiling water or use an oven at 220 deg. you will see why they need replaced and corking them...get a savvy customer who has knowledge of the problem and someone corked the block and the transmission smokes, what's your explanation? remember you are BLOCKING a factory passage, that was in use from the factory and is not after YOU blocked it. extra credit: use a Sure~Cool and take a pair of vise grips and clamp one rubber cooler line closed and go drive the vehicle. now do it with your cork...wait you better not. YOU WILL HAVE NO FLOW, with the Sure~Cool installed ours still flows to save you some parts to build. its that simple. I do thank you for seeing the benefits on the other ones you do install. as an X shop owner for less than a dinner for 4 at MacDonalds, why take the chance? Just 1 6L80 you charge (lets say appx 3500-4000 per unit) if it CB's (for the 2 grand in out of pocket in shop owner costs) you could have put on appx 40 free STL010's to help your customers and save your unit. all I'm saying is... all it takes is one. "Why take the chance" with respect. RBW

With the lower temperature’s does it effect any computer settings? Will everything else function as suppose to?
@superiortransmissionpartsi5357
@superiortransmissionpartsi5357 2 года назад
no it does not affect computer settings nor the PCM / ECM.

So this product is safe for use in climates where it gets cold in the winter months? Say the midwest where it can get well bellow 0 degrees F. Would you have to allow time for the transmission to warm up in these cases?
@superiortransmissionpartsi5357

the STL010 keeps the bypass fully active and functioning (the bypass is the cold weather part of the block) and uses the viscosity of the cold fluid to move the ball over until the cold oil warms up then the bypass shuts and runs full flow. as far as warm up time no. just fire it up and drive, the fluid circuit is circulating ( inside the unit) and so you have flow, just not to the cooler...yet( once it warms and thins the viscosity (appx 5-10 mins) then the bypass is closes. but the oil is still flowing inside the unit.

So I just added the mishimoto transmission cooler to my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 I wanna add your transmission bypass part kind of feel more comfortable with it since I’ll be in colder weather any advice.. what part # I need ?
@superiortransmissionpartsi5357
@superiortransmissionpartsi5357 2 года назад
just saw this, the part # is STL010 for the GM's STL020 for the fords.

How long does it take to heat up? I’m nervous about winter time. Running too cold isn’t a good thing either. I’m debating on buying this or the new updated colder thermostat from GM

The Sure~Cool® system does these features and benefits. A. Removes the chance the factory pellet will not stick closed or jam up destroying your transmission thru any fault of your own. B. Now allows, immediate start up with full flowing fluid thru the main transmission lines and cooler at normal working pressure and at full volume. C. Keeps a factory designed Bypass fully operational (if needed) and “not plugged off” (with a cork or a screw) D. Factory bypass is now used as a “safety system” (if cooler or lines are damaged or severely restricted) the bypass kicks in and unseats the ball and re-routes lube / working oil back to the Lube~Loop™ to keep oil flowing to the internals for lube and cooling. E. Can be used in extreme cold climates where fluid can gel and cause restriction to flow. The Sure~Cool® system keeps the fluid Lube~Loop™ flowing until restriction of frozen ATF is overcome and flowing at full volume and pressure. *Note: temps can still climb up some when towing or going up steep hills loaded etc. the STL010 will keep the flow routed when needed and is your sign (if temps get over 200 deg. To get it to a professional to ascertain what is causing the overheating condition.

the pellet type can still stick, ours is not a pellet type. you will always worry if today... is the day.

if you have the 6L with cooler lines going into the radiator and then into the auxiliary cooler you will be fine, the coolant will act as a preheater to the ATF when it goes thru the radiator / trans cooler, and visa versa... it will scrub some heat off the engine above 215 deg also,. its minor but it does. for that extreme cold type of climate, most use auxiliary electric heaters to keep them warm. the update still has a pellet too, so your back to "when will it stick" mentality.
