It shows how arrogant he really is. These Atlanteans almost destroyed the surface if it weren't for the Justice League. The U.S military also got destroyed by the Atlantean troops in the movie, Throne of Atlantis,. Men with super strength who answer to a King who wields a trident with magical powers. Lex only speaks so condescendingly about the Atlanteans because they were never able to complete their plan of destroying the surface.

Appearently they can withstand the pressure of being more than 10.000 meters below sea level. Which is over 10.000kg/cm2, only the strongest submarines can survive that. If they came to the service they are pretty damn near invincible for most of human kind arms.

Lex has never had any kind of compassion towards anyone he sees them simply as expendable pawns. As long as it means it's a threat to Superman, he will do whatever it takes to kill the guy. Hell, he didn't even hesitate to give his body up to brainiac in exchange for superhuman power and a superior intellect.

Actually, this is not the problem with Lex, but most of the rich people like Lex. 20 years ago, I read a news about a fight club in small countries in Europe where the rich came there to entertainment and guess what? One of the most popular thing for them to watch is the "Battle to the death" of children under 10 years old. They collect orphans, kidnap children all over Europe just so they can put them into cage and fight to the death. There are more examples of cruelty of the rich in history, but all points toward that the rich families think nothing of people's lives. Lots of mention that most wars fought between Nobles in the past were to REDUCE the population because peasants would die in the Winter anyway, so may as well put themselves USEFUL.

I was SHOCKED when I read it. Yes, 10 years old children fighting to death, then the next one is to have people run away so the rich patrons can use arrows or rifle to hunt them as animals. This all happened under "royal families" of that small countries with backing behind since that was and still is a great way to make money. They have several groups to provide them with orphans, homeless children and adults and even kidnap young women, get them addict to drugs and trained them to as prostitutes. The victims came from all over Europe or even kidnapped tourists, some even in US and elsewhere that got ship over. You can google victims of young teenagers who got lure out and kidnap, some ended up being prostitutes in US, some got ship to Europe and Asia. I remember Hollywood makes several movies that has one or two elements about it. One is the father is a retired CIA agent who got his daughter got kidnap from visiting Europe, so the movies is about him going to Europe and rescue his daughter and unveil kidnapping organizations. Although the groups I mentioned got caught, but since it was later reveal the insane amount of money they made, so I am sure currently there are more of such underground entertainment market for the rich appears elsewhere.

Hong Kong's movie before China took over also used it to make theirs own movie. Like Jackie Chan I think infiltrate a gambling boat operates in international water. This is also another based on elements that actually happened, underground gambling, underground fighting, underground entertainment make lots of money and attract the rich who went there because most activities would be ILLEGAL elsewhere, so they can enjoy something they couldn't in theirs countries. Some of the people who went there were and probably popular in public for charity and such, but theirs twisted hobbies are entirely something else.

They continued that spectacularly through the movie too. The scene that showed it the best IMO was this teenage girl with a phone. She's streaming Doomsday killing a bunch of cops. Her voice is breaking as she begs, "If anyone is watching this, send help! This monster is killing EVERYONE!"

A little bit. The suit was also in the original arc in 1992 though, so they weren't copying Bioshock. Just a coincidence. The suit is actually from the last civilization Doomsday attacked. Years of rampaging through their world, he reduced them from billions to thousands. Eventually their royal family found a way to merge into an energy being and sacrifice themselves to deliver a single planet-shattering attack. This successfully killed Doomsday, and the species was left with a post-apocalyptic world that had been devastated by both years of Doomsday, and their own counterattack. Despite killing Doomsday, it wasn't powerful enough to obliterate him so they were left with its corpse. That suit is a containment suit. It's a religious thing of theirs. Basically it traps the spirit or soul of the deceased in their body so they can never get into the afterlife. They used it for their most heinous criminals who were considered too evil to deserve a second chance or an afterlife. All religious ceremony obviously, the suit had no practical purpose. They had no idea at the time that Doomsday is capable of self-resurrection. I just think it's a cool backstory. Anyway, after putting him in the "fuck you forever" box, they shot him into space. Where he drifted for countless centuries until crashed on Earth. And the rest you know.
