I'm wondering if she grew up without food.... my mom grew up very poor (like using the bathroom in a bucket poor) and she always overly bought groceries. We weren't wasteful though-- I had a lot of friends coming over and eating so the food was always used up-- but my mom made sure to always have an overstock of food. She didn't want us to go without it like she did. My mom also never had money for feminine products so we always had way too many. I'm sure Alicia has a shopping addiction but I'm wondering if her childhood was rough so she makes sure there's way too much food even if it's being wasted.

My biggest concern for these kids, aside from the privacy exploitation, is the fact that they have no sense of how to budget or even do basic chores around the house. It’s setting them up for failure if they think they can get whatever they want without doing anything.

Go after celebrities that raise their children to be spoiled brats with a staff and credit card . Go after the foster care system that is really in terrible shape and letting children down :/ Imagine being out in a foster home and ALL you had to do is work and do chores ? I was raised by a single teen mom, the older I get the more I realize that material things don’t bring happiness. I grew up shopping at thrift stores and Walmart and still do that to this day. I honestly get more satisfaction saving money or getting a good deal than by spending money. Those kids are learning a dangerous lesson, just because you have money doesn’t mean you should spend it and a higher price tag doesn’t always equal a higher quality. Disgusting. They are paying for the name brand on those Yeti cups. Walmart sells a GREAT dupe for like $10. I totally understand wanting to give your child what you didn’t have/spoiling them here and there BUT this is extreme. These kids do not know the value of working for something and she is setting them up for poverty in the future. So gross! I lived in poverty until my teenage years and my parents did splurge on Christmas and birthdays but I had a job and if I wanted my nails done or extra cute clothes you bet I had to pay for that. It helped me understand the value of items and their cost. Even today I’ll think to myself “Oh that item equals 2 hours of work… is it worth it?”

My daughter (5) did ballet when she was 4 with a local girl who was being fostered and the foster mom asked every other mom taking pictures to put an emoji over/cover her foster daughter's face. When my kids were young I always bought them quality shoes. Having a podiatrist in the family, I learned the importance of quality shoes. Especially for growing children. We weren’t wealthy by any means, but the health of your feet can affect your entire life. 👣 Bad shoes can change the way you walk, the way your knees and hips develop, and more. But also, “name” brands and high prices don’t equal quality.
@CeeRoark
@CeeRoark Год назад
I was just about to say, I totally agree with spending money on shoes. Even for little kids who grow out of them quickly. But we were shown she’s not spending big money on quality, just brands. He even pointed out one of the young men that walks in a way that is bad for his feet yet she buys shoes that do not correct or help this. The shoes he should be wearing are expensive too… but they don’t have a Nike swoosh so that’s not what she’s gonna get. She can give two fucks about what’s best for these kids.

Josh-I think you hit the nail on the head when speaking about the cycle of growing up very poor and feeling like you just wanna flex every once in a while to prove you’re not as poor as you really are. I grew up VERY poor-our lights would be shut off for non payment all the time, same with our water. Eventually my mom gave into her demons that she had already been playing with, and she totally turned to alcohol to the point where she couldn’t keep a job, and she knew she wasn’t doing well, so she gave me to my dad (who was always in my life anyways) and he lived with my grandma. My dad also fought his alcoholism and somehow we all lived off my grandmas social security checks which were 1,000/mo. We got $200 in food stamps also. But a thousand a month to pay bills and buy clothes for a pre teen and later teenager wasnt enough. But somehow my poor, sweet grandma made sure I never went hungry and I always smelled good. I didn’t get any name brand clothes ever, but there was one time for Christmas my dad came up with some money to buy me my first and only pair of K-Swiss shoes. Please someone comment if you remember those lmao!!! I was obsessed with having some bc all the cool R&B singers had them and the cool girls at my school (I also went to a predominantly black school) now that I have my own kids, I have to fight the temptation to buy them name brand clothing because honestly it’s dumb to do. But in my mind, it’s a constant battle of “Am I doing enough for them?” So far my kids have it WAY better than I did. But I can honestly say I’m glad I grew up poor, it gave me empathy, and an outlook and experience on life that many of my friends now don’t have. It made me grow thick skin, so now I’m able to speak boldly without worrying about someone might think or say about me. As much as I sacrificed my childhood so my mom could party, It made me who I am today, and I wouldn’t change that. P.S. my mom passed from alcoholism when I was 15. She died in jail on a warrant she had for not appearing to court. Life is cruel….very, very cruel. But we just have to keep on chuggin along for our children and our future generations. ❤

There's one thing that makes me so sad from the 4000 k shoe spending. Apart from all that you said, which is really eye opening (I think you are a wise man with a huge capacity for observation) is that she allows to buy them what they want: 150$ bottles for small kids, Crocs, Nike's, etc... Whatever!! Yet some of them look dishevelled. It's hard for me to write this, cause it's children, but their external appearance is not right, hair is not combed, they seem they haven't had a bath, some are very overweight. So, instead of giving them nurturing love, instead of taking time to comb their hairs, to dress them properly, she just takes the lot to the shop to hoard and hoard. I worked with special needs children and first red flag was children's appearance. If they attended school with dirty clothes, messy hair, tired face, we knew there was something going wrong at home. Cause you know what that is called? That is neglection. No matter how many Crocs she buys them. That kind of parenting is wrong. It's specially bad when those kids are adopted, I mean, if you can't look after them, why on earth do you have to adopt so many kids?? It was her choice, her selfish choice trying to cover her multiple insecurities and mental issues. Everything about that woman is having more and more. No matter what, she needs to have more of everything, shopping, children, subscribers, stored junk food, etc Sorry for the rant, just makes me so angry.

I didn’t start getting nicer things/clothing until I was older. Even then they were from outlet stores. For me, my mom baking me a cake for my birthday and allowing me to travel with my school somewhere warms my heart more than a designer bag. My parents spend more money on us when it’s an experience that would be amazing, and my brother and I are both doing really well in college and never get in trouble. I got shoes once a year (when I was early school age), from Stride Rite. They had a little bridge in the store, and I'd walk up on the bridge so the salesman could feel my foot, where my toes were compared to the length of the shoe, and ensure the proper fit. It was so exciting to me! I loved each special pair so much that I'd sit up at night past bedtime, just staring at them on my feet. I wouldn't trade that experience for ANYTHING in the world. As someone who doesn't live in the USA but I am always shocked at how much some people spend on clothes and school supplies just to go back to school. Living in the UK where all school supplies except pens, pencils for your own personnel use are supplied by the school. Yes school uniform can be expensive but the amount of clothes people buy just because it's back to school. Surely it makes more sense especially with older children to just buy and replace what is needed in the season you are in.

I’m a foster parent in Oregon, and here if it’s a Kinship placement you can post pictures and videos online. Actually, in Oregon you can post pictures and videos of foster kids in general but you can’t give any information about them or indicate that they are a foster child. Oregon felt it was more discriminatory to blur our faces of one child rather than let them be in a picture because it draws attention to the fact that the child is blurred and it can hurt their self esteem. You just can’t in the post say their name or if someone asks who they are you can’t identify them as a foster child.

My jaw just dropped watching this video! This is just insane, taking kids to a massively expensive store like that and just letting them go to town. Why would you by water bottles from Dick’s Sporting Goods where there are way over priced instead of going to a place like Target or Walmart for a fraction of the cost. We didn’t have money growing, but my mom always found a way to take me to Old Navy for new clothes for school. I was so grateful for what I got. I have to admit my grandma would always buy us expensive stuff because she was over compensating for when she was a little girl share cropping in a cotton farm in Arkansas. She always said that her kids and grand kids would always have nice things. But, we were taught not to take them for granted. My mom did always buy me a good pair of shoes for the school year because she was all about having a good pair of tennis. She isn’t teaching these kids anything, they just expect nice things now. I have serious questions about her showing her foster kids on camera because I know of a foster family that lost license to foster just by showing blanked out faces and changing their namesd

I mean I buy my kids stuff from Dick’s Sporting Goods my daughter has a Hydro flask I spent $400 on a pair of custom Nike shoes for my son but that’s all within their budget it’s not a limitless budget we can afford to have those things but we don’t spend exorbitantly on everything you get to pick and choose if you get the $400 custom Nikes then there’s gonna be a trade off like maybe you don’t get $100 Nike windbreaker that you don’t need to know there’s a trade off and my kids also earn those extra things to buy taking care of their rooms or doing whatever is asked of them detailing the vehicles caring for the pets whatever and they definitely understand that they can’t always have what they want and to be very thankful for the things that they do have because not everyone has them and I buy the nice things and turn around and sell them on Poshmark or donate them to Goodwill or my friend who has a pretty large foster family and kids who always need clothes and probably have never had anything nice in their life and I try not to buy those super expensive things for kids that are so young they’re going to outgrow them before they actually get any use out of them my son is 18 my other son is 15. They’ll be able to wear a pair of tennis shoes for a good while it’s not forever I wouldn’t spend that kind of money on my four-year-old or my 10-year-old and a pair of shoes for example
