I won't lie: The image of Roshi seeing Goku instantly appear and just take his glasses while he's prepping a joint is the funniest mental image I've ever thought up.
one of my favorite lines to quote and i agree it is hilarious to imagine Roshi seeing Goku appear out of thin air after being gone for a few years, then in a charming innocent Goku way snatch the glasses off of his face and then vanish, and Roshi be all freaked out by it! darn near the funniest bit in the entire seriese in my opinion. "Goku just stole my glasses!"
I wish there was footage of that 😂 I mean imagine after it happens roshi just sits there joint down and says “I think it’s time for a break PIG HIDE THE STASH!!”
@@animalia5554 ya lol, it's from a cold open when Hal the dad chucks a spider outside of his house hitting his wife, Dewey his kid slams the door on her face while saying that 😂It's a really amazing show, check it out!
@@LJ-hk4tv Yeah, if a friend came to me and asked if I could record some moans for his RU-vid video I'd be like "Why...?" and "Hell yeah!" once he tells me is for a scene between Vegeta and Bulma
To be fair, it has to be extremely awkward to sit down with a good platonic friend and have them record moans for a sex scene for you. Like imagine telling them you need to do multiple takes because it doesn't sound enough like the character. I'm dying of embarrassment just thinking about doing that.
@@Player_Redacted I think a difference is, while embarrassing as hell still, there is still that line between "entertainer" and "friend", where Kaiser asked as an entertainer to get their friends to record the moans, the friend part was "We are doing this one at a time".
Yeah, the little edits they do for these commentary videos add so much. They're just small details, and they don't have to do them at all, but they're very appreciated.
As a Brit, I automatically heard this as Goku being fed their vomit like they were mama birds or something - from Masako's tones it sounds like he thought it was weird but also aliens do be weird sometimes, let it go. That's the impression I got, anyway.
"Oh my Gamikai" followed immediately by Piccolo bursting out laughing off-screen is probably one of my favorite exchanges in DBZA. It's just a simple joke that works very well.
“So your Sun Wukong right?” ‘Dammit!’ “I’m Son Goku yes” This joke has me in pleats every single fucking time and first time it could me so off guard I was in hysterics for a solid 30 seconds before I could breath again, this joke is gold!
Fun fact: in the German dub they actually referred to them as Cyborgs and it was reflected in their names as well. Android 18 for example is called C18. They never call her just 18, they always go for C18
Bulma- “You said you were wearing protection!” Vegeta- “I WAS WEARING MY ARMOR!” Still one of my favorite jokes in this entire series! Can’t wait to hear it next episode.
@@lolusuck386 I think the running joke is that all pureblooded saiyans are oblivious to the fact that they're all some shades of idiot. My favourite depiction is king vegeta lol He's appears to be a well-meaning monarch but is half-assed, incompetent, and rolls with whatever advice nappa gives him lol
@@Tupadre97 I always thought of it as Saiyan sex was just so wild they always had to be battle ready as if they were on a battlefield, so when she asked about protection he's just like "oh, so you do it like us Saiyans huh?"
You guys saying you wish you'd done more with Trunks realizing his heroes are human (paraphrasing) made me think of Krillin and Trunks making laser sounds. One of my favorite parts, cute and humanizing
Honey is technically bee vomit, and birds feed their young this way - so the thought didn't really bother me much. If anything, I think it works better than Goku eating the sick & feeble of their people especially in context of the Episode of Bardock Abridged and the proto-Saiyan's 'healing spooge'.
"Yamcha, you're my friend." It means much more when you realize Yamcha IS one of Goku's oldest friends 😭. They've known each other since the first Dragonball series.
South African here and I can confirm that when I first watched this years ago, I thought "sick" meant their vomit. Thought alien puke gave you teleportation powers for years 👽
The upcoming addition the galick gun joke is my favourite joke of the entire series. “I ASKED IF YOU WERE WEARING PROTECTION!” “I WAS WEARING MY ARMOUR!”
I always assumed that goku getting Instant Transmission by eating the Yardrats was your way of explaining why he never teaches (or at least offers to teach) anybody else this INSANELY USEFUL TECHNIQUE.
The dark joke is great but I also love how Goku avoids that future with just “hey Yamcha? You’e my friend.” Also, I super love Piccolo having fantastic hearing.
I'm one of the people who assumed Goku meant "sick" as in "vomit," by the way. I knew Goku's voice actor was British, and vomit being a strange foreign delicacy made more sense to me than consuming dying people, so the intended meaning of the line literally never even occurred to me until Goku said "sick aliens" while explaining to Cell why he can teleport.
*Flashes official "I Tried To Kill Myself" card* That "Can I stop being the rope" line made me literally laugh out loud for a full minute. By the Nine do I love well-done dark humor
@@DenizuI think it's more you can't poke fun at it unless you've done it yourself, since it is serious subject matter. But if you are joking about it, you need to be CLEAR it's only a joke.
Also, darkening that Yamcha joke with Puar like that would've been fucking diabolical. I can't even imagine how that would've coldcocked me on first watch if you'd gone with it.
This episode alone was the one that started my love for Piccolo's character. this is where Piccolo finally step into the character he was going to become over the next 26 episodes, plus 2-3 movies. so thank you TeamFourStar for making one of the best written characters.
@@TommyNir was just going to say, most likely Bulma would know he was dead and probably the creator but thanks to timeline shit not sure if the corpse they would have found would have been human or machine.
The little aside where Vegeta appreciates Bulma's phrasing of "murder that son of a bitch in cold blood!" is nice, I like that it's a little bit of foreshadowing, and it's totally something Vegeta would be into
19:00 Dragonball Z Abridged has given me so many fond memories and laughs, but this right here is my absolute favorite part of the entire series. So touching.
Telling my friends that I'm there for them has become a bi-monthly experience because of you guys. I only hope that they do rely on me if they need me.
@@camdenbutler958 sorry to hear that mate, you don’t gotta tell me your story to know that you all did the best you could. We can’t change the past, but I can at least say that I hope they Rest In Peace and that you and your friends have seen and will continue to see better days since then.
As a Brit, while hearing Goku ate vomit was kind of gross, it was also HILARIOUS. The idea that Goku just goes "Oh okay that must just be the culture around here" was so funny to me.
I appreciate the use of OSP's Journey to the West when you talk the Sun Wukong joke. Mostly because Red used to do the whole "Last time on Dragon Ball Z!" but with her Journey to the West episodes. Even used the one track from Faulconer's score from it.
Red from OSP mentioned in a podcast loving to watch TFS. Now TFS shows off a bit of her Journey to the West series. She has got to be so happy right now.
The back and forth between all of the characters here make this one of my favorite episodes in the whole show. Most of the jokes comes from just the dialogue alone and it is amazing
I love the Sun Wu Kong's joke, i even felt like knowing the Journey to the West before Dragon Ball, and knowing the latter borrowed a lot of the former. :D
Oh god, the "feeding me their sick" got me for so long. Just the way the sentence is said made me think "oh yeah he ate their vomit". Could just be me but I'm from Australia and still thought the above
25:20 I love how they transition the conversation from abortion to killing Dr. Gero early so seamlessly that I had no idea when they jumped to the next topic 😂
For years I've been saying "Oh my Gami-Kai" out loud. Almost no one understands it, but when someone does... a true friendship is formed. I love DBZA. It has got me through so many hard times of life, as well as happy times. Thank you for being you guys.
16:57 Speaking as a Brit, I actually thought it was a Goku-translation of the Yardrats doing a similar thing to mother birds, where they will partially digest the food themselves then regurgitate it into the chicks' beaks. I figured given Goku wouldn't understand that part, he'd just refer to it as sick(vomit), and leave it at that. Finding out it actually was meant to refer to sick aliens really threw me off.
I was one of those UK people who thought it was vomit! 😂 Honestly thought I always imagined they were just feeding him bird style. When I found out it was actually sick aliens the funniness of the joke dropped a little for me but I still like it. Also I never connected yamcha reading the intro to the how he does in the future until now. That just makes it sooo much funnier 😂
I always thought the "everything smells like copper" was an Alice Through The Looking Glass reference when time is messed with and everything turns into copper.
Goku and Piccolo learning to drive was my favorite filler episode. I wish you guys would have covered it more, but I'm glad it was at least included somewhere
God bless you guys. Thought it would be interesting to see unused jokes or joke's you guys had for later arc's. Like adult Gohan saying, "i am an adult 😈"
Y'all did a great service to Yamcha in that DBZShortz video. Y'all always showed how much you and we the fans care about these characters through your amazin writing. Also I didn't understand that "smell like copper" joke cause I didn't connect it to the smell of blood 🤣
Among the many things I like about this episode and show, I like that they gave goku a few lines showing that he cares about Krillin. Humanizing the characters made them funnier. The earlier seasons were funny at the time because they satirized how flat and senseless the dragon world is. Season 3 is rewatchable because they abridgement fills out and reknits the world.
Shoutout to our Editor for making a lot of these commentaries what they are with contextualizing their commentary and additional stuff like Instant-Transmissioning Lani out 😂 Love seeing these every time!
I give the entire TeamFourStar staff praise and credit for all of the hard work and creativity you all delivered to the internet, but season 3 by far is my absolute favorite. I've rewatched it so many times I know every line and every joke. DBZA is the reason why I fell in love with all of the characters. Thank You
16:18 Whoa as a Kiwi who watched this since the very beginng all those years ago, it's so cool to finally realize the actual joke and it wasn't just Goku eating vomit lol, always thought it was. Them feeding Goku sick people to eat is so much funnier and far more on brand for him. Love to learn these little things by watching this commentary series!
