Dream-grade BMW 2002 Tii | PH Readers’ Cars 

Thanks all for the kind messages and taking the time to either watch and/ or comment. As i eluded to in the video, it's great to be able to document on the forum and chat with like minded enthusiasts. When you're holed up on your own in a garage working through things, its great to be able to share with people who care and take the time to respond positively, there really are some great people on here. The fact the guys at Pistonheads are willing to send pro videographers/ journalists to the other end of the country to capture all of this is just fantastic and i dont think i could thank Ben, Cam or Harry enough. The more response the videos get, i assume, the more that will come out and there's no end of fantastic cars on the forum to film, in addition to the ones that have already been captured! I really liked it when you said you wanted to build a car in your garage, drive it to the Nürburgring and do a couple of laps! I'm in the proces of finishing my 2002 and the first thing I'm gonna do is drive to The Ring and do a couple of laps. I live in the south of Holland and lucky me: it's only 250 km (155miles) to get there. Awesome build, really really nice. Nice colour, nice rims. Nice everything! Well done!

What a great car Scott, and so well done without going too far. I remember my dad bringing home a new 2002 in 1968 when a was a little kid here in California, and no one knew what the car was! Now many years and so many BMWs later (including six M3's), I will always have a soft spot for these cars.

Don't know why but post 80's BMWs do nothing for me whereas pre 90's I love.... this is a thing of beauty, well done that man.

What a great looking and sounding Tii Scott. I had a 1974 Tii Alpina A4S. (RHD) I had it restored. It ran Kugglefischer slide throttle injection. The engine was rebuilt (prior to my ownership), apparently by a racing crew in California. Compression was 11.1. Getrag dogleg gearbox, Bilstein shocks, uprated anti roll bars, etc, etc. World Sports Cars did a big feature on it back in the day. They are super rare these days and very very expensive. Why oh why did I sell it, idiotoI!! I some pics if anyone is interested.

What a brilliant build. Hats off mate. Totally concur on the death of the forum. Its a real shame to lose those niche areas where like minded individuals can convene and document. I would be totally lost without some of the knowledge that is still documented on them (E30Zone is invaluable). Facebook groups etc are OK but just don't hold the same level of information. Lovely build though mate and love to see it out on the road running free. Very happy that you saved her from a lifetime in boxes. I'm off to go and read through through your build thread now.

Hell yeah, as a 2002 owner I'm very impressed mate, I've got 4 02's in my collection, almost all to Ti spec, a coupe, a touring, a cabriolet & a sleeper with an E30 M3 engine, would like to get a turbo & a Tii, but there hard to find & quite expensive, great video, Rj in Oz

What a lovely car. Well done on the work you've put in. Looks perfect with those turbo arches and front spoiler, glad you didn't go for the rear spoiler as it looks so much better as it is. This is a really cool car, I know Scott and can confirm it's a really well put together car and gets driven properly and normally nowhere near as slow as in this video 😎

My Dad had a Red one, fitted Koni shocks, Wolfrace alloys,and front air dam , it felt fast then!

I think Polaris with polished belt trim and no knee trim is the best combo on these. It works really well with the lines. I bought mine it had all the freight shipping information in the glove box. Delivered to New York in 1974. Very cool to have. What's interesting about yours is that it has the '74 grill, but '73 mirrors (I believe), and early tails. Kind of a mix of both years?

I've had a few over the years My first BMW was the 2002 1972ti that l bought back in 1974 I'm in the process of restoring a 1973 2002tii Mine is Agave green with Ireland engineering stage two suspension and the 5 speed conversion with LSD With covid it's a been a pain getting basic parts!

Did you add power steering? That’s the biggest need in my ‘73 tii. Also what brand is the suspension you mention?

Vintage BMW are stunningly beautiful compared to the current turbo engine with pop and bang exhaust, sports car are now mistaken for speed rather than drive. I love this bimmer, it’s difficult to love any BMW after the great E46 CSL, nothing replaces a naturally aspirated engine coupled onto a manual transmission.
