Comma Two | Comma Three
Piece of aftermarket hardware that plugs in to your car and is mounted to the windshield. It runs Comma.ai's custom software, Openpilot. Openpilot is easy to use and works similarly to your regular adaptive cruise control. Simply press a button on your steering wheel and It enables your car to steer, accelerate, and brake automatically within its lane; and it does all of this much better than your car's default stock system. Openpilot is similar to Tesla's Autopilot.

I’ve tried laneless on an 800 mile road trip and then turned the lanes back on on the way back. I can definitely say without a doubt it is much better on highways and at higher speeds. I had a lot fewer disengagements with laneless however when it does mess it up it messes up pretty badly compared to the lane model. Still a work in progress but I can’t wait to see what future holds!

Great video! I feel like this might be beyond the limits of OpenPilot if it can't use the side radar to realise how close it is to the construction signs. Would be very cool If it could do that. I really enjoy your videos where you talk through the experience, it makes it a lot better than simply filming the road without commentary.

Side radar? There is no side radar. Only 1 radar from the car, and 1 camera from the Comma 2.

Lineless is quite bad in traffic, follow distance is much larger than standard mode, and it takes too long to go from standstill to moving. It does very well on roads without lines, but almost worse on roads with lines. I’ve had it try to drive me up the curb a couple of times in a fully marked road. Hopefully this gets better with time.

Hey, agree, sometimes it needs more help in city driving but its still an alpha version. I'm driving with stock ACC so I can adjust follow distance.

Hello. I always enjoy your video and watch them twice or more. I would like you to do a video in a two way road with parked car in the road just to see how openpilot react. Also that would be amazing to see how it will react with a parked car and a car coming in the opposite side of the road. I would like to know if openpilot will let the opposite car goes first or will try to squeeze between the park car and the opposite car.

Hey man, thanks for watching and ideas! Sadly, I don't get full Openpilot experience, my car is using stock ACC when OP is engaged. OP doesn't yet control acceleration/braking on Bosch ACC radar based vehicles. The factory Bosch radar does not output object data like other makes/models. Still, most important, steering is fully Openpilot :)

@Lorentz Thevenin In Openpilot, longitudinal control means that Openpilot can control gas and brake. If a car uses stock longitudinal control like my Honda, that means the stock system that came with you car is in control. Luckily Conma AI added auto-resume for stock ACC cars, so driving in stop-and-go traffic is more enjoyable. Openpilot ACC: I don't have any experience with it but as much I have researched its smoother, can detect stopped cars ahed, cut-in detection, auto stop-and-go ...and I'll probably miss any other Openpilit longitudinal (ACC) related updates in future. Stock or OP ACC: github.com/commaai/openpilot#supported-cars But I'm not sad 🙂, biggest improvement for me is that Openpilot overrides stock Lane Keeping Assist! (Honda's stock LKAS is realy bad 😀!)

Really interested in getting a Comma AI compatible vehicle/hardware and use it for my local commute in town. Seems like it's quite good in Estonia, it has been one of my fears it might be not be as good in Europe as most of the test videos are from the US. Thank you for making these videos :) Have you tried using it in traffic at the road work zone on Männiku tee near Järve Keskus?

Hey man, thanks for watching! Works great on highways and two-way roads. But Honda hatch is not the best in city driving because of Bosch ACC and limited steering torque, still I use it as much as possible. I think it can't detect temporary road signs so I rather drive it myself in road work zones.
