@Fariko Zero - if the screen is cracked then put it in the bin. If the cable is torn but the screen is ok then you can replace the cable but this is fairly advanced
Nice tutorial mate. Those ribbon cables are a right pain in the arse. I just fitted a new screen and put everything back together and the the console wouldn't turn on. The power light came on for a couple seconds then just went off again. Opened it up and checked everything about 4 times eventually found that one of the cables wasn't pushed all the way in by like half a mm and that stopped it from even turning on.
the iron will probably be fine however I'd say flux is pretty much essential - if you can't get any you may be to do it without but it will look very messy and it will be difficult to get the parts to stick to one another
yeah they're tough until you get the hang of them - I damaged a lot in the early days. yeah not pushing the cable in even a fraction makes the difference - glad you got it sorted
The black surround that you see me removing at 10:22 (which has the white/clear screen cover) attached is sticky. That is what gives you the impression of it being stuck together. The amount of pressure I applied would not break a functioning screen but if you're worried just use less pressure - the screen will come away more slowly but just keep the light pressure on and it will eventually come free - key is to take you time - give youself a whole afternoon to do it and a tidy bench to work on
Also , were I to be replacing the top inner housing , is there adhesive that keeps the screen in place? I want to place the screen into a new top inner housing for a repair , but it looks like a lot of pressure that you applied to remove the non functional one. I want to remove my screen but not press it so hard that I damage it. Any tips?
I see that many people have problems with white , distorted , or off top screens. Would this be a sign that they have not pushed the ribbon cable firmly in enough or they have damaged the ribbon cable?Any tips on how to handle the ribbon cable?
If this happens then it is primarily due to a lack of care. If done slowly and carefully there is no reason why a case replacement would interfere with a lower screen. The bottom screen may stop working if (1) it is water damaged, (2) the orange cable is damaged, (3) the orange cable is not properly pushed in, or (4) the motherboard is damaged
After I placed the top screen in new housing , the screen seems to be changing in colors. The cable is in perfect condition , but I suspect it's not pushed in enough. Would that be the problem?
Can I use this soldering iron Delcast 30W Pencil Tip Soldering Iron and rosin core tin lead 63/37 soldering wire? also do I really need the flux? I can't get some now because I can only order the screen and iron so can I do it without applying flux?
Some people on other videos do a case replacement and say their bottom screen stopped working. How would that be possible if the bottom screen is never disconnected?
Hey the black speaker wire for the longer speaker didn't have a connecter like the other three wires so i just connected it to the other black will it cancel it out? The new screens ribbon was missing the copper piece that the cord connects to.

Ahzidahakah sorry about the late reply, must have missed this post - you can touch the iron to the new pads but briefly - make sure your iron is tinned (i.e. has solder on it) and that there's plenty of flux and the solder will move directly to the pads
If the image is white or distorted then this is most likely damage to the ribbon cable. If the screen is off altogether it could be either that the cable is damaged or not pushed in correctly. You should handle the cable like a new born baby :)
