thank you ;-; 9 years ago, i broke my bottom lcd screen. and i never tought id be able to fix it. im like the least tech smart person i know. and i even managed to fix it with your explanation. the joy and nostalgia i feel in my heart right now after finally seeing my nintendogs again is inmesurable

I was replacing the bottom screen on my DSLite but for whatever reason, it wouldn't turn on after the swap. But after watching this, I think I definitely blew the F2 fuse you mentioned. Had I decided not to watch this video I would have probably scrapped my console without realizing what was wrong with it. Taking a multimeter to it and I confirmed the F2 fuse was definitely blown. You saved my ass man, thanks!

@gohan9845 if you send your system in for repair at our site, the cost is a flat fee of 54.99 for parts and labor. This would cover both screens if they needed to be replaced. some other sites will charge for labor and up the cost of parts as well. Thanks for viewing!

Although my screen doesn't appear cracked, it shows a lot of purple and pink lines on the screen and the screen image keeps moving up and down rapidly. Do I have to replace it or am I able to thoroughly clean it since there is a lot of dust collecting on the edges?

I bought two shells, a new top screen, hinge sets and the screw drivers. I'm fixing my mom's DS since the top screen has dead pixels and the casing is all scratched. I'm fixing mine too since the casing is scratched and I wanted something new. :P

Very helpful. A few spots where the camera didn't focus. My DS lite also had an extra screw in the slot 1 opening, and one of the motherboard screws was accessible in the battery area.

+Garrett Ewald and the touch screen cable is a bear to insert. After four tries I went back to the original touch screen and it finally worked.

@bioburn It looks worse than it is. You will need a new Top LCD if that doesn't turn on, and a replacement shell. You will also need a triwing screwdriver to be able to get into the system. Do you still repair these? I've got a broken LCD unit and tweaking the screws doesn't really help. I'm not actually entirely sure whats wrong with it and it is still responsive and mostly usable. Its very hard to see and the longer its played on the worse it gets.

any tips on getting the bottom touch screen ribbon cable in. Does it go under the tines or on top between the black tab. I can never seem to get it back in and the touch screen never works.

Question: Some DS lites have a bottom screen that is more of a yellowish tint than the whiter top screen. I’ve heard different things online, but what exactly can I do to replace that? Is it the actual LCD display, or is it the plastic touch screen that goes over it? I don’t want to take my DS apart to figure it out. Hoping somebody has an answer!

When I tried to fix my DS's broken hinge, I think I ended up severing some kind of blue-ish green ribbon or cord when putting it back together. The bottom LCD was too heavy, I guess. What Do I do? Also, my other DS won't turn on, and when it charges, the orange light flicks on for only one second before it turns off again. I don't have the money to send it in for repairs. What do I do?

So the ds works but the one i got apparently the the little black tap that holds the little ribbon cable broke and also little corner if ribbon cable broke. And i think thats why the touch screen dont work. Do i just buy a new screen or is the problem with something else

@Stoni420Ash Is the touch screen no longer registers correctly when you touch it with the stylus or is horribly scratched up? If yes, then you need to replace it. Does your lower lcd is not turning on properly or is cracked? then you might need to replace it as well. Please verify then let us know. By the way, We offer repair services. Ok. So I have an old black Nintendo DS lite that I got about 3-4 years ago, which a friend of mine gave me for free. 1 week after I got it, the bottom screen showed only colored lines, similar to what you have in your video but no black line across the screen and more dark instead of white. I now find this DS in my room, and have an itch to play some of the old games I have. Just to confirm, will an LCD replacement work? I did the test in this video to see that the touch screen was working.

Yoo i've got a question. I read that the NDS's LCD and NDS Lite's lcd has the same measure. And my question is. Can i install the top lcd from NDS to the NDS Lite or the lower LCD from NDS LIte to the NDS? Thanks in advance :)

Hey, I have a DS LITE and my problem is when I play a game or PITCO CHAT I get a weird glitch, and it will freeze for a couple of seconds then it continues to work. But were it had a glitch it remains on the screen. So any helps?

Just turned my DS on after about 3 years. my lower screen(touch screen) distorts/goes blury after a few minutes. it's still responsive and playable, but it's obviously hard to look at and annoying. anyone know why, and what to do?

I know this is an old comment, but I believe I know what your problem is. Take out the battery & you'll see a bunch of holes on the bottom of the battery holding area for screws & stuff. I believe it was the second hole from the right. It's not a screw actually, but it can blur your screen resolution if it's loose. Tighten it with a screwdriver (I can't remember if you need a philips head or a triwing) and then check your screen. Hope this helps!

Hi can anyone advise me. 8:40 My touch screen/lower LCD is fuzzy. (purple, blue, red lines above the picture). I've taken it apart following this video. Hoping I just had a loose ribbon cable. Looks fine though. So how to do distinguish the problem? How do I know if the lower LCD or touch screen is the problem?

Sounds like the switches have come out of the case. I would recommend opening up the unit and checking to see if the plastic in those places are broken. If they aren't, just make sure when they are put back into place that they are in the correct position. If they are broken you may need to buy a new shell.

For some reason, it's not uncommon for the touch screens on DSs to have a slightly yellow tinge, it's rather a annoying for sure

Hi I replaced the bottom touch screen built it back now, when i try to switch it on the green light comes on for a second the screens blink then they all go off, I tried and working battery from another ds and stripped it back down removing and replacing all the wires blowing them clean first still no joy ,any help thanks, Graeme.

Hard to say to be honest. If I had to wager, I would bet on the P3 connector, but you already knew that. If the screen is just flickering, you don't have a crimp in the cable. If you don't see physical damage to the screen, well you have pretty much ruled out a screen issue. Fortunately the P3 is cheap to replace, and we offer them on our site with USPS first class shipping (under $3 for shipping).

Check and make sure you didn’t bump anything in the process of repairing it as ds lites have fragile parts so its very easy to break it if your not careful

The touchscreen didn’t fail, the lcd did. Likely due to the repeated pounding from the touch screen, smack your ps1 for a few years and see how long it lasts.

I Was trying to plug in the little clip for the bottom screen and it wouldnt open and the black plastic snapped off and NOW MY WHOLE FUCKING BOARD IS RUINED BECAUSE OF ONE LITTLE CHEAP PART AND NINTENDOS SHITTY DESIGN!
