They did a lot of studies on rage therapy in psychology and the consensus now is that it actually makes people’s anger worse than it was before. It doesn’t release the anger and allow it to go away. It reinforces it
No it doesn't, that's if you don't do anything about the problem. As someone who vents like this, it's actually very helpful to have a time and place. Now I know that whenever I feel angry I can just bottle it up and then release it somewhere else.
@@2ndpartycrasher954 I’m sure you know better than the psychologist who studied this lol Releasing anger via exercise or playing a sport is healthy. But just raging and screaming and smashing stuff makes it worse. It conditions you to respond aggressively and violently when angry
@@2ndpartycrasher954 idk man, bottling loads of stuff up.Waiting to release the rage doesn't sound that healthy to me. I think learning to let go would be more helpful.
... We literally have rage rooms. You know the rooms you like pay significantly less than $4,000 to get into so you could take a baseball bat or an axe to a television set? We have that.
Not only is this a scam, its also unhealthy. Human beings don't really "get things out of their system" by indulging in it. By being angry and throwing or hitting things as a way to be calm is only a temporary fix for a much deeper problem later on. Please, resolve your problems in a way thats going to actually help your mental health.
A street hawker was selling fish for a $1000/lb, the man asks that what's so special about it and the seller replies that it will give you wisdom. The man buys it, cooks it, eats it, feels like an ordinary fish, goes back to the seller and says that he was scammed coz there ain't such a fish that can give wisdom, to which the seller says "looks like it worked, you ARE wiser now".
this is really funny because its basically the same idea as a rage room, and theres a few studies ive seen suggesting venting your anger in this sort of way can just make it worse maybe theyre hoping to make your anger issues worse so you come back and spend 4k again
Im not even mad at the scammer. If people are so stupid that they’d pay for this when you can literally do it for free, the scammer deserves every cent.
right?? that's something I don't think these people understand, or give enough credence to. you can rewire how your brain processes/releases emotion by repeat behavior. we're all pavlov's dogs lol
That's exactly what I was going to say. There's no such thing as actually expressing anger to cure anger. The cure to emotional instability is emotional control.
I started camping again and i can just imagine actually relaxing next to my campfire, cooking some sausages and hear a bunch of people smacking sticks around screaming. Me and the skinwalker would be so confused..
The worst part is that "releasing anger" with violent or destructive actions has been shown in every study that has researched it to be counterproductive and actually increase stress and anger hormones. It might feel good to destroy stuff, but it wont actually fix the emotions.
It makes me think of the Primal Scream therapy that was the big thing back in the early 70s. Everyone jumped on the bandwagon and it turned out to be pretty much useless.
You are also training the body to normalise such actions as well as relate them to minor things. Most people go their entire life without resorting to violence... it's actually very normal.
It's absolutely okay as a last resort when you realize you've been bottling for a very long time, as long as you don't sustain yourself in this state for too long, and then immediately move to something more restorative. But yes, this should not be anyone's primary coping skill. The point is to use coping skills before getting to the point of needing to release explosive emotions. However, this is relative- for those who use maladaptive coping skills such as drugs or self injury, this is an acceptable transition into less-destructive coping skills. I'm a mental health worker based in DBT.
@@hanthonyc It's not okay. Doing this won't fix the issue it will quite literally help to lay foundations to develop maladaptive behavior. Proper therapeutic techniques rely on you avoiding this kind of thing because it literally will only cause you problems.
@@BfkcjscbsnjcI mean collecting something you personally and enjoy and can be a monetary investment with prices increasing over time is different from paying $4k for something you can just go and do in any wooded area a few steps off a trail.
Back in the 80s there were a bunch of therapists peddling this thing called rebirthing as a cure for all sorts of psychological problems. They would charge hundreds of dollars per hour to wrap their clients in a blanket, sit on them and tell them to fight their way out of the blanket because that somehow mimics the birthing process. It was all the rage until a young girl died of suffocation because she had multiple grown ass adults smothering her in a blanket and screaming at her to fight her way out. I wonder how long this rage retreat nonsense will go on before somebody gets hurt or worse?
Yea.... I'm pretty sure physiatrists recommend against "release" therapy because you're actually training yourself to get angry and violent in order to handle your emotions.
@@searsbear7965 only if it’s separate lol, therapists/ psychiatrists giving the exercises would just be the same price as regular therapy (bc that’s just seeing a therapist, not $4k stick screaming 😂)
yea at this stage is it even a Scam anymore ? If someone is this brain dead to fall for this garbage i don't think you can blame the " scammer " for it
Yeah I don't think it's a scam, it's just someone being like "You know pay for it if you want to it's up to you!" 🤣 Not like the creator has a cult or anything weird like that, worst case scenario they probably selling some "mystic stick" oriented towards letting out specific feelings
The older I get, the more I'm starting to realize that the majority of people can't hold onto money, and have zero ideo how to make money work for them. You could give a million to every person right now, and the huge majority would be broke again within a decade. We need financial literacy taught in schools.

Literally saw someone screaming in their car in the parking lot of Walmart and just thought "same fam" and moved on with my life. And it was totally free for her to do that.
These people have never heard of owning dumbells at home and a pull up bar and screaming your lungs out while simultaneously letting out endorphins and increasing your muscle mass and strength. So any therapist worth their salt would tell you that using punching pillows and shit like this doesn’t make you less angry, it just trains you to use physical force when you are angry. And it makes you angrier in the moment.
@@vmofu7317 That only teaches you that whenever you are angry you need to break something to "release the stress" Now imaging if your whole life you deal with rage with breaking stuff, and then suddenly you have kids... yeah thought so Edit: So people took what i said, twisted it and are saying i support domestic abuse???????? @@decas5505no the idea is to channel your emotions into appropriate activities like, for example, exercising, journaling, going out into the woods and screaming, etc. That way you learn to work through tough emotions rather than bottling them up inside until they burst. I don't think there's a correlation between DBT therapy and physical violence. In fact I believe the opposite is true; when you have a healthy outlet for emotions like anger or frustration, you're less likely to have outbursts.

On a student campus in Sweden they used to yell out the window every tuesday or something at 10 in the evening to relieve frustration or stress. It was interesting in the weeks before exams
"Oh hi, Jim. How did your wife's retreat go?" "It's great, man. She's been so quiet since she got back. No more arguments." "Wow, so that stuff really works?" "Nah, her throat is just too sore."
Now for the real question: did Jim’s wife go to the retreat in the forest, or to Andrew’s house right around the corner? Both can provide the sore throat.
Here's my scam idea I mean my therapy idea: Sonic Therapy. You pay me $2-12,000 to go to an exclusive three-storey building. On the top floor are a bunch of bathtubs. You hop in one of those bad boys and a super secret piece of technology bombards you with relaxing vibrations to alleviate stress, grow back missing body parts, and have your parents love each other again. Side business: You pay me $2-12,000 to go to an exclusive three-storey building. On the bottom level is the biggest rave you've ever attended. We have Jack from the 7-Eleven down the street as DJ, Kim from corporate brought Sunny D, and your Aunt Cheryl isn't invited.
as an angsty teenager i used to get my anger out by hitting a tree with a stick, no need for yelling. i'd say it was a lot more productive than hitting the ground because i got a rock solid wrist and taught myself how to hit things optimally, i also used to ride my bike like a maniac and that taught me how to handle high speed turns and how to patch myself up after a crash. as an adult i cannot fathom feeling so much anger and having no clue how to process it to the point you'd sign away 4k to go do something like this
There's this place in boston (I think?) that's touted as a "rage ground". You basically just get dressed in safety gear, enter a warehouse with junk and decommissioned office supplied, then use sledgehammers and similar tools to smash and bash anything and everything in range. This was a couple years ago so I don't remember the specifics, but I'm pretty darn sure they didn't ask for THOUSANDS of dollars for it.
Not even close at all lol it’s “rage rooms” all over the place now, they’re not that expensive at all (unless you do the add-ons like if you want to destroy a whole car Street Fighter style, they’ll actually do that for you but it costs quite a bit more - still not close to even 1 single thousand)
Yeah at least the are providing things that cost money in that scenario…….i mean this is paying to do something you can literally do for free on any hiking trail.
You know, when I get angry, I usually eat some rare cooked meat, watch a gore film, and listen to extreme horror novels. Sometimes I'll draw if I don't have access to any of the above. You know, like a relatively normal person. It's much cheaper too.
So you’re telling me there are people out there spending 4K to scream while slamming a stick on the ground when the kids in my neighborhood already do that for free?
The worst part of all this is that psychology suggests that giving in to your frustration with physical aggression makes it EASIER to physically vent your frustration next time. These women are paying thousands of dollars to become worse versions of themselves.
I feel like this isnt exactly correct because then how does exercise come into play? It's the same hormones you're using. But Im also bias cause im on teams sociology and anthropology and our favorite thing to do is dunk on psychology
@@augervongaribaldiPhysical aggression, such as yelling angrily and destroying sticks. Not a constructive, effortful activity like exercise. I majored in psych and @warriorscholar41 is right.
if you read the stuff charlie puts on the screen instead of his mischaracterization, youll find that the entire point of the retreat is to help people express their anger more, not less
@@UnicornsExist17 but you do that in exercise too??? You yell to get better results, you boost adrenaline by doing so. You are confusing behavior and intention for aggression? Then you don't know human beings. Trust me, I've had those thoughts where I would considering believing in things everybody would tell me are baseless and stupid just because I didn't know much about them. That's why I sometimes hesitate in engaging in arguments that challenge my beliefs unless I am absolutely certain I have the skills to debunk said idiots. Those people may as well have turned off their brains.
It's been debunked numerous times that "releasing anger and rage" this way does not work and actually makes you more angry and liable to lash out in the future.
Sometimes I wonder whether your anger is just a part of how you respond to certain things in certain situations and how the actual solution is to try changing your habits to less destructive methods like taking a walk, exercising or just doing something you enjoy and the hope it takes the bad feeling all away.
This is honestly why exercise is so important, it is one of the few ways you can truly go all out physically and exhaust yourself. Often very therapeutic 🙏
This is one of the reasons I've decided to hit the gym, actually. I did martial arts for nearly a decade and was going through a lot of trauma during that time, and it was very, very therapeutic. Had to quit due to some chronic illnesses and moving, and depression and EDs have been kicking my ass since. Decided to pick myself up, channel that negative energy into getting gains and getting back into shape like I used to be, and am now making myself a routine. There have been a lot of proven studies on how physical activity and mental health correlate, too.
@@squidzen glad you’re back at it. It’s not even about gains tho, just extending your physical exertion, getting the blood flowing and all that, super good for mental and physical health. Some people just wanna get built and that’s totally fine, I prefer to just stay fit and have fun.
I read the title and was skeptical, because there are some pretty dumb scams out there. Sorry I doubted you. The entire time watching this, I was thinking "So none of the people paying for this ever considered that they could somewhere they won't bother anyone and do that for free?"
Sometimes people are so locked into their own lifestyles that they forget what they can do if they would step out of their schedules for a moment. I think MMA can help, some people seem argumentative partly because they don't have any other way to take their anger out. Well, all fairness to the event, it does offer some value because 1) Influencer led event where she will provide some level of interactive therapy. 2) You get the community element of being with the other participants. You can swing a stick in the woods for free, but you will have a hard time gathering others to do it with, as well as having someone to hype you up and direct you through it. If it's a longer "retreat" as it's sold, it could help you form bonds and socialize with the participants through events. Those two elements differentiate it from something you can easily do for free, and could make it worthwhile to some people.
