The most interesting thing to me, is the fact that you aren't just playing two different characters. But if you have a duo, you are now playing two different players. Different mindset, play style.
I'm always rooting for free to play games, people talk too much about monetization but as long as it isn't pay 2 win and the core gameplay is good, it's fine.
@@etl2474 for me it's alright in a fighting game like this, i have 200+hrs in gg strive with 99,9% of playtime being bridget, only times i played another character it was sol when i didn't notice the game reseted my entry character for no reason, so i don't need many characters.

I'm super excited for this game. The whole reason why my friends don't like fighting games is because they can't have fun with me. They're always against me. Although we've grown and my friend group is somewhat into the more competitive nature, a game like this could sky rocket thier interest in the game genre entirely. I can't wait to see my friends grow as players while I carry them through the low ranks, lol!
FACTS my guy. My bros are all casuals in fighting games but I am an avid anime fighter player. I cannot play with them because the skill gap is too big. With Project L it all changes
@@paulnoell39 Not even necessarily the fact they're casuals but they just don't have someone to legit practice with, so they aren't going to learn the basics as easy. My buddy is starting to enjoy DBFZ but it is my 1300hrs vs his 10hrs. It's hard to teach them when everyone else is mostly all veterans. But Project L? It's looking like a solid game to learn basic fundamentals and combo routing. And not only will I be there to coach but I can also go in and show him in real time. And then once we learn how to play the game we'll be destroying casuals, lol.
I’ve been waiting for duos since mk9 man.. I don’t know how it’s taken this long, looks dope. It’ll be so much more fun learning/getting my ass kicked with a friend rather than 1v1 all the time
Hearing Max describe himself as the raidboss made me think of a mode that they should add for like casual games where its kinda like the skullgirls teambuilding system. So one person or like cpu can act as a single character raidboss for a team of two.
I'm super hyped for this game. I hope we get a beta/demo after EVO23 and the full game comes out in spring / summer 2024. This game is definitely gonna scratch that MVC itch :)
They gotta add Kayn in this. Like for 3 bars he gets an install based on his HP. If he is above 50% he goes Blue and becomes a Rushdown type character, while Under 50% he goes Red and becomes a some kind of Grappler. Since in LOL when he is Blue he gains mobilty, while Red gets healing and Crowd Controll. Also, in Base he would have kind of medium speed attacks with decent damage like most All-rounders, Blue fast and medium-low damage like Yamcha from DBFZ and Red BIG slow meaty attacks like Goldlewis from GGS. Also Kayn is my favorite character and I wanna see him in this game :).
Depending on how meter work, that could add some layer to Kayn strategies as you either would like to play him point to take the hits or anchor save up for when he has meter, I don’t know if you can play a batterie in the game, I need to review footage
Just by seeing you describing the mechanics it´s exciting. Can´t wait to be able to play this game. The parry mechanic looks a little similar to kof 98 and 2002 as it may seem except for the fact that you can recover the bar here. Very interesting. I love the 2v2, this lets me play with even more of my friends, much like doubles in Smash Bros. I'm only worried if there's a severe advantage gap between 2v2's and 2v1's matches.
I mean 2v1s will literally be the same as 2v2s and 1v1s. There is no specific mechanics that are blocked based on how many players there are. 2 player, 3 player and 4 player matches are all the same with the only difference being number of players at least from what we’ve seen so far.
What Max just said about Kenny and Steve vs. the raid boss makes me realise that this game may be able to have some sort of actual raid boss system which would be pretty cool
I think the very fact that you can play this as a partner against another duo is big!!! League currently has a 2v2v2v2 mode for summer and there are a lot of requests to make it permanent and to be able to customize it, so that people can play against their friends. PLUS this kind of mode allows streamers to play with their community as a duo, organize mini tournaments, AND league already has monthly tournaments where you can get a banner or something if you win your bracket. There are people who do not care much for ranked. Tney just want to play with their friends AND people love the champions even if they don't like league. Not to mention skins and arenas. Riot's art is S tier I have no doubt this is going to be popular
I might try the new mode. Smart of riot to do more modes and stuff with ip. Lot of older players sick of the normal summoner rift that enjoy more fun and casual stuff too. Adding aram was one of their better decisions. I remember doing that before it was actually a mode lol
Being able to deflect the feel bads is a very powerful thing and I suspect many of the people jumping into this from league might choose to play with another player or friend to allow the OS. I think it's a great concept for "party game" play but of course people will make it competitive too. I just see this being a fantastic beer and pizza with the homies game
The 2v2s will definitely be wild on tournaments. With just 3 champs there is already so much to discover and yet there are like 150+ more champs in league😁
Would be cool if the game had this chaotic game mode where all 4 players are on the screen at once and it seems pretty interesting but I want to see more characters before I decide on picking this game up
Tbh i cant wait to play this. Looks fun and league has cool characters for a fighting game. Hopefully it does well. Riot has such cool stuff and potential do take over a make big in a few different genres.
my biggest gripe will be its probably gonna be impossible to rank solo queue in duos, cuz youre never gonna be in sync with your duo like that, so you will most definitely just end up playing solo in ranked. but its gonna be awesome to watch in tourneys though if it becomes a thing also i actually like where parry is at, at 1 bar, but i do think that the bar recovery should be buffed a bit
The question I'm hoping that would be answered is, will there be an arcade mode? Because I always find arcade mode a good way to instantly start playing while learning the game
As someone who grew up with fighting games and has been into League since 2020 I'm so excited for this game to be release so that even if you are not interested in League of Legends as a MOBA you can still get a lot of enjoyment out of it with the characters and their designs, the lore, ect. One thing that was pointed out on the official website was that it looks like there will be at least 14 characters at launch meaning that out of the current 164 (With Naafiri being the most recent addition at the time of making this comment) that there will be at least 7 more characters from the League roster being announced. I wouldn't be surprised if the next champion reveal was Katarina who was showcased during the first iteration of what Project L would be like before it got moved to being a Tag based fighter. Hopefully the game will feel smooth to play and that people new to fighting games and veterans will enjoy this. As for people who are unfamiliar with monetization with Riot Products I will already tell you that if you have ever played LoL, the monetization will be around Skins and future character releases to the game just like in LoL but don't worry about that cause just like in LoL there will be an option for people to just play the game for free and be able to earn in-game currency to be able to get the future content. But that stuff probably won't be really much in the pipeline until Project L is at least within a couple months of whatever the release date is. If you are going to EVO, please let the devs know your experience with the core game that they have now and how you feel the game will function for both brand new fighting game players and those that are veterans. I would be hella excited to try this out as I have been dreaming about this game coming out for so long and the potential for this game is really high.
Probably gonna be seperate ranks for 2v2 and solos. League has a similar system with multiple rank queues, one specifically for solo play and another for playing with premades
Team-based fighting game has been done before, but it's always been either an unbalanced mess treated as a "party mode" feature OR something so minor it barely does anything to alter gameplay. THIS is probably the first time it's treated as a core mechanic with balancing and even online features (i.e. servers to stabilize connection for multiple people in a single match) geared towards it
hopefully it will be released soon. 🙏 Remember when Max said we wouldn't see Tekken 8 anytime soon, but minutes later it was teased at EVO? We only saw 5 characters so far (Ahri, Darius, Ekko, Jinx and Illaoi) but in their first video when it was still 1v1, we can see a developer playing against Katarina. So they might have a lot of other characters in a playable state that they don't want to show.
Probably not too many. Riot doesn't really do collabs, they stated as such in a recent dev interview with a popular League youtuber too. At least not in their own games. They're probably more open to their characters appearing in other media though, Fortnite had a League collab after Arcane's release Generally though, they want their own games to be about their IP only
@@KillerBee41 Yeah, Fortnite has about what? More than ten collabs with other companies including: AMC (producers of The Walking Dead), Marvel, Microsoft, DC, LucasFilms, and Capcom. I personally can see Riot Games making a lot of collabs, as that can bring in gamers who are very familiar with a character; say Ryu, and people coming into Project L because Ryu's in it.
co op is always something I love having in fighting games. I really enjoyed DBFZ's party mode but the netcode was too terrible to play 😮💨. I will be buying this for the 2v2 alone!
@@albertochavez7631 yea I would hope so too, I just know staying 100% free to play earning characters is tedious in some fighting games so buying them would be an option that’s easier. I know In killer instinct for example you have to buy characters. I hope them characters obtainable but even though it’s a riot game, they could still monetize these like regular fighters which I’m worried about.

Competitive 2v2 in person is gonna feel kind of weird, since you don't want the other team to hear you but fighting games have always been about your opponent being right in front of you.
My question is, in an 2v2 2v1 matchups, they said that their rollback sys would chose an winner in the case were someone is disconnected , the match would end or and 2v2 would become 2v1 and an 2v1 an 1v1 ? Is that possible ?
i mean that seems to be a question we haven’t asked any of the content creators. where they all using fight sticks on the same system? or were they at different monitors and systems, cuz to me it sounds like they’re basically playing 4 player switch but on pc. hope that’s the case
There's a video on Riot's official youtube channel that has 4 Rioters playing 2v2s in the same room and most likely on the same system. So Local 2v2s look like they're a thing I'd guess you'd have to be on seperate systems and accounts for 2v2 online though, for ranking purposes
Cool idea if it’s forced 2v2 but if not most ppl will just go solo and control both characters. Hard to get perfect frame data on assist calls for max block stun and stuff

@@shadowman2101 there is no different modes for duo and solo. It's 1v1, 2v2, or 2v1 by how they explained it. Meaning one bracket that you can enter solo or duo. It will be interesting to see if duo is the most optimal way to play.
Im part of the few players that play fighting games on keyboard so i really hope the game has good support because lately a lot of fighting games have been half assing their keyboard input systems
For that you can rest assured because they have explained in previous update videos that the inputs are simpler to make it accessible and playable on keyboard
I need people to realize That Street Fighter x Tekken was a thing. The 2v2 is similar and also the launcher that automatically switches to the other champ is the exact same in SFxT

*It’s always love shown for these games and they’re genuinely good and then once the game comes out it’s played for a week or two by people and then it dies off to be almost forgotten just like DNF Duel*
DNF Duel failed because the developers more or less abandoned it for a couple months. Games need dev support, which this game does, it also helps that the pot money will be sizeable.
