My opinion on Goldberg is he did what they wanted him to do. They could have had him train more and have more lower card matches but they saw money and rushed him to the spotlight.

I've worked in a professional capacity with people who have had strokes. It's not unusual to see people experiencing a lot of anger or fixation on something as a symptom of the brain injury itself. Bret has something to be mad about, yes, but ordinarily, we see the average person accepting apologies from someone who made a mistake, and moving on after 20 years. I suspect that Bret's brain injury itself is affecting his ability to do that. People call him "bitter", and yeah, he is, but we should be careful not to judge.

I wonder 🤔 if that could be an issue with myself.... I got my bell rung at least a few times in the Army and a TBI (knocked out 60+ minutes due to a headfirst fall onto concrete) and then a chronic Nuerological condition until Brain Surgery in 2021....

Not really stroke-specific but my great uncle for his whole life was an angry man and cruel to my aunt verbally. Then he got brain cancer in his 60s, had part of his brain radiated and cut out and became a totally different person, so down to earth & kind. And I just don’t mean someone thankful to be alive seeing the error of their ways, a total personality change, it was eerie.

The Drills were in many ways just LONG SOLID IRON RODS. A gentleman who was known to have a certain temperament, placed a rod into a hole that already had the powder, he beat it and boom 💥 the rod went THROUGH HIS SKULL 💀! I don't know i firmly believe that if you are like Bill making millions doing something 1 day in a week, , you'd got the time and money to invest in yourself to make it look better and save for the people you work with but he stayed willfully ignorant and a sloppy dangerous worker dedicating his time and money on other more important things..

Bill has admitted in recent years that he was very inexperienced and didn’t fully know what he was doing back then. WCW wasn’t really known to teach guys top stars who came out of their Power Plant how to truly work. You hear Big Show say quite often that he has no idea how to work until he got to WWF. 20 years is a long time to hold onto that anger. Accidents happen in the ring. Bret’s own brother, a guy that was a veteran and much superior to Goldberg, injured Austin, and the injury ultimately l ended his career way earlier than it should have.

It's time to find out the truth about Goldbergs performance and safety in the ring... Plus most of all, the truth about Bret Hart on what actually lead to his career ending... Many legends said Goldberg was safe to work with even Ric Flair was speaking on his Wooooo Nation Uncensored Podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair was asked whether Goldberg was safe to work with. Flair stated that he still thinks Goldberg is a safe worker despite concussing Bret Hart. “Well, to me he was very safe. I have been kicked in the head by him too.Jan 6, 2022 but only Bret said he wasn't but the truth is he was it was just that on incident kick but what's also the truth, Bret Harts career wasn't ended by Goldberg, Eric Bischoff explained what truly was leading to Harts career ending... It was Bret who took it upon himself when he had a hardcore match and during the match he hit his head pretty hard on the concrete ground and continued to do more matches, not the kick from Goldberg for that is not the main cause... After Goldbergs match with the accidental kick was on December 19, 1999 than a match against Chris beniot on Dec 21, 1999 next match against Jerry Flynn on Dec 27, 1999 next a PPV hardcore match - against Terry Funk on Jan 4, 2000 next four more matches against Sid Vicious on Jan 6, 7, 8, 9, 2000 and finally his last match against Kevin Nash on Jan 10, 2000... But puts all the blame on Goldberg? C'mon man, lets be for real here... so it was the hardcore match what was leading to end his career because he kept on getting hurt by continuing to do more matches... The kick was accidental even Ric Flair said so that it's a risk and their are times you will get hurt if the match doesn't go as it's set in the ring and this is a guy who started in 1972 and who knows the business from inside and out of the ring... So who's the real person to blame, sure wasn't Goldberg... Like I'm trying to say is, Bret Hart forgave WCW for the caused of his brothers death, he forgave Vince Mcmahon for forcing Bret to loose the title Against Shawn Michaels when bret never tapped out, he forgave Shawn Michaels for stealing his latter matches when Shawn promise Bret he wasn't going to use his idea but lied and did it anyways, but yet cannot forgive Goldberg... I used to like him until he became a lier and wining saying GOLDBERG ended his career when he took it upon himself by continuing to do more matches, that Bret's fault even WCW'S, not Goldbergs... Otherwise, if the kick truly ended his career the match against Goldberg would have been his last and final match... according to Ron Simmons Scott Steiner Rick Steiner Booker T Edge Christian Vince Mcmahon Curt Hennig Bobby Heenan Sid Vicious Arn Anderson Diamond Dallas Page ( Kevin Nash on and off with Goldberg ) Lex Luger Sting The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin Brock Lesner Ric Flair John Cena Randy Orton The Undertaker Triple H Shawn Michaels Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff said he is one of the greatest because if he wasn't NONE of these guys would support him and say he is... Even Stone Cold Steve Austin said so on the Broken Skull plus he supported him and was right beside him during the 2003-04 era.. that's why He's in the Hall of Fame... Even the Rock loves Goldberg and it was him who got Goldberg to change his mind to come to the WWE in 2003 to make a new era and for Goldberg to be the main character since the Rock was leaving to continue his acting career and decided to play as a heel and Goldberg as the new WWE hero... The truth also is, If Goldberg was an unsafe and unprofessional wrestler, they would have ended His Wrestling career and no longer be rehired back into the business and or even brought back into the business in the year 2016... The true fans that continue to support Bill know it's B.S. on the lies and negativities on him... Accidents do happened and that many others have their career ended like for example what D.lo Brown did to Droz who got him completely paralyzed for life... And we don't hear from Droz saying, you ended my career and I will hold a grudge against you forever... And let's not forget that Owen Hart broke Stone Cold Steve Austin's neck and Owen never really apologized... What's truly sad is, Hart made Goldberg believed that for so many years and still today continuously saying to everyone that he ended his career and cost him millions and Goldberg constantly apologizing for something he didn't even do which was ending Bret Harts career but only an accidental kick to his face... Bret Hart could have taken time off to recover but wanted to continue Wrestling which made it worse... Everyone else said he was safe to work with and never gotten hurt by Goldberg, For example Goldberg asked Jericho personally on Y2J's talked show when he interviewed Goldberg and Goldberg asked, " Chris, did I ever hurt you" and Chris's response was, "no"... Said the person who had a problem with Goldberg in the beginning of their career... Only three people said he's unprofessional and sloppy and doesn't know how to wrestle, Scott Hall Raven and Bret Hart, others said the opposite of Goldberg performance and safety meaning he did pretty well and was safe to work with, none of these guys I mentioned never said he hurt people or to them especially Ric Flair who had a few matches with and against Goldberg and never gotten hurt by him... He can't wrestle hum here are Goldbergs 35 plus three extra moves that he had done in his Wrestling career... 1. Back body drop. 2. Dragon screw leg whip. 3. Spinning back kick. 4. Diving clothesline. 5. Electric chair drop. 6. Gutwrench suplex. 7. Firemen's carry slam. 8. Clothesline. 9. Sidewalk slam. 10. Full nelson slam. 11. Belly to belly suplex. 12. i think bill mellowed out over the years and became more self aware over time about what he needed to be rather than what he thought he ought to be. but from a lot of various people at WCW during that period, it seemed bill had a bunch of bad people in his ear. his real problem was that he never really improved when he needed to. eric bischoff knew they had something special in bill because he had great presence and an aura that stood out. but eric also knew the guy was severely limited but they wanted to get him over while the iron was hot, which i agree with to a degree. the thing is that he should have been improving his overall abilities and getting proper training because that probably hurt his career more than anything. i think he could've been like kurt angle if he had been smartened up by the right people about wrestling and forced to improve on his skills. i think bill did believe too much in his own hype up until that match with brock where the crowd shat on the match at WM. that probably was a very humbling experience. as far as HoF, I think Bill deserves enough of his own credit for it. he was one of the few people that legitimately got over on his own and brought the company ratings. he was awful as a wrestler but a lot of people in the WWE HoF are awful (not just Drew Carey). He was pretty significant enough as a moment maker in the WCW-WWF Monday Night Wars and even Heenan praised him. for Bret, you want to talk about a reality distortion field, here's the guy he has an impenetrable bubble. I know Scott Hall and Nash have mentioned in the past how Bret has a shrine for himself at his place. And sure, Bret has earned all the accolades. But this guy also allowed those things to get into his head. He was a bit too serious especially about himself. I think it's good that he has pride but maybe he took that too far. As far as his beef with Goldberg, the concussion thing obvious was huge for Bret but I think the money aspect was the real killer for him. But he could've always have taken less money from Vince to stay. He had options. I think the whole situation for him is that he's too proud to admit that he has regret for making wrong decision of leaving the WWF so instead it's all about how others caused his situation rather than him admitting that maybe he was the one in the wrong as well.
@teppler

Bill doesn't deserve hof honors. He's not good at any skills that make a good pro wrestler. He can't wrestle matches and he can't talk on the mic. Lots and lots and of meat heads could have replicated what Goldberg did if they got the same timing right.

Goldberg’s feud with Evolution when Batista injured his knee and the match vs HHH at Survivor Series showed what Goldberg with longer matches would look like. He sold the bell out of his injury for weeks and throughout that match vs HHH. The spaghetti legs selling when he would lift HHH up for a press slam but just his knees just buckle out was really good. If WCW or WWE wanted him to, Goldberg could’ve been like a Hulk Hogan. Psychology folks, that is what is lacking today. Goldberg wasn't a good wrestler but his image sold tickets. Was Hulk Hogan a good wrestler? He sold tickets, like Goldberg, had exposure right? Dutch does touch upon two things, no it would do no good removing Goldberg from the Hall of Fame, I totally agree, and I sternly oppose the inclusion of these one night non wrestling personalities/entertainers that were inducted in the Hall of Fame. This cheapens the honor of those who really deserve the honor. If you've followed the business you know who deserves the honor and who doesn't. The Hall of Fame was a great idea that has been tarnished by decisions made by Vince and others to include non deserving performers. A total lack of respect for those who truly deserve the honor. Brett Hart as a person who is all about himself, the late Scott Hall said this, when you went into Brett's house, every room had a picture portrait of Hart in his wrestling attire on the wall. Apparently every room was a showplace for Brett. Hall said most wrestlers keep their memorabilia or gear or pictures in a single room. For Brett it was all over the house. Nothing against Brett or against any laws but that sort of gives you an indication of what he was like.

If Dutch wants to measure everybody by the way they wrestle Flair then he has to slam Brett Hart for having crap matches with him as well. (at last according to VKM) Goldberg had great matches with DDP, Raven, Hogan, and Scott Steiner. He could hold the Giant up for the JackHammer and he should have had a match with SCSA but Austin was already hurt by then. Flair at the time simply had no business being in the ring let alone being in the ring with Goldberg. And one more thing. I am not so sure Goldberg can be blamed for Brett Hart's concussion-ending injury. It seems to me all those corner bumps taken to the sternum should have caused him several concussions as well leading up to his final one with Goldberg. He even wrestled Sid and got Powerbombed on his head after the Goldberg bump so Brett has no way of assessing what damage that one kick had on him. Maybe it was one kick too many but Brett has already said his stroke was caused by him falling off of his bicycle and hitting his head on a rock.

I have always made the same comparison of Bill Goldberg and The Ultimate Warrior as guys who were not very good but were hugely popular due to their incredible look and intensity. I will give Bill Goldberg credit over the Warrior on one thing, Bill Goldberg did actually try to get better in the ring ( debatable about how much better he actually got of course) whereas the Ultimate Warrior somehow actually got worse the longer he did it it seems. The only good match the ultimate warrior ever had was against Hogan at WrestleMania in Toronto and that's because Hogan was experienced enough to lead him through a match Pat Patterson had laid out pretty much move for move so he couldn't get screwed up. Some people try to give William Regal crap for it, but he got put in the horrible situation of being expected to go out with Bill Goldberg and have a like 10 minutes match when Bill was only capable of just running through somebody in 90 seconds. William Regal is a pretty talented and skilled wrestler who knows what he's doing in there and even he couldn't make Bill Goldberg look good for that long. Goldberg seems to think that Regal was shooting on him and trying to make him look bad, have to side with Regal on this one that Goldberg just made himself look bad it was not Regal's fault at all. Many other long time wrestlers have watch the match like Steve Austin and agree with Regal "yeah you were trying" From all accounts Bill Goldberg went through the WCW power plant and basically learn how to bump before they put him on TV because they knew with his look he would be money. He couldn't hold the belt for long because he was horrendously limited. His "huge" WCW years made the rest of the roster look bad because they had to devote so much to the streak and then it fizzled out to an unimpressive title reign which culminated in WWF overtaking WCW. If HOF is based on fan reaction then Goldberg is a HOFer but if its based on any quantifiable skill that makes up a sports entertaining wrestler then Goldberg doesn't deserve to be there. He was right place right time. A new Goldberg couldn't exist today because it would be impossible to do a 150-0 streak in the 50/50 booking climate and that's the only reason he got over. Bret does have a right to be pissed, however he shouldn't just be pissed at Bill. He should be pissed at Bischoff & WCW for putting Bill, a very big athletic guy fully capable of hurting someone, out there with very inadequate training.

Goldbergs career and character was built on short matches that made him look incredible so Dutch's comments r totally irrelevant because that was the character, but always love the podcast, God Bless!!!!
