I would absolutely NOT recommend doing this to your V10. Its royal pain and almost impossible without risking breaking your vacuum. If you want a machine with washable cyclones get the he LG A9 or Samsung Jet.

I am about to embark on this, thank you for the video. I disagree with Matthews comments, "That's how cyclones cleans themselves they get built with dirt and then it gets heavy and falls" these things are *not* self cleaning past a certain point. 3 years ago we bought a v10. works great when it's working but after 18months it started to clog in ways that regular cleaning wouldn't fix. Using a PC cleaning air blower I got it going again, huge amount of dust came out of areas you can't clean too. Now, another year+ later, it's clogged again but this time the PC air spray isn't fixing it (although it did get a lot of gunk out). My choices are: - Do something extreme like this video. or - Chuck it I figure that if I'm going to chuck it I might as well try the extreme cleaning first and if I break it I'm not worse off. If extreme cleaning it works well, I *might* consider buying another dyson in the future but the "self cleaning" sales pitch is BS. This is my third dyson but these days, there are other similar designs that look easier to maintain. I don't want to buy one every three years.

@@VacMaster1991 My v10 is fixed ! Thank you Actually I didn't need to open it all the way up but I did need to get part the part where you used the knife thingy and I couldn't work that out by myself. There was a lot of crap in there and my PC blower was able to get to the gunk further inside from there too. I think I'm good to clean it when needed now till the battery eventually dies or whatever happens. Thanks I think that next time I'll buy something that's easier to clean though

IMHO Dyson has a problem with small particles collecting throughout their vacuums. As soon as you start to disassemble the V10 you can see clumps of fine particles everywhere. Then you get to the clogged cyclones which can render the whole thing worthless and as you mention it's almost impossible to disassemble and clean without breaking it. What other vacuums have this issue? I've owned several Dyson vacs over the years and I'm done with them. There are better options with less maintenance at or below that price point.

Aside from the pain of dismantling your dyson, would you say when all is clean and re connected it’s worth it? Also Any changes in performance or did the smells go away? I can’t afford a brand new one, I got one off OfferUp, and they did say it was used for their dog, which has an odor and do see dog hair coming from inside the filter area/motor, so it’s really bothering me what’s inside and how much build is really in there before using it for my home.

To be honest, I take the 4 cross-head screw out from the filter, then the screw near the rubber seal, and then put the whole thing in the dishwasher at a lower temperature. Bring it up amazingly well, saves you from prying off the plastic pieces. If you use dishwasher salt, its basically deionised water anyway. Ive been servicing them for a while now (not for anyone paying) and never had any issues with electrical contacts or anything, but that's just me

The wire connector block to the wand are easy to take out. However a hammer pliers and screw driver is not a good idea. I use a plastic knife as a wedge. A block of wood that's the size of the connector. And lightly push the wand in with connector so that the connector slowly pushes out. The video I am showing is another person doing it the wrong way. Go to 17.28 of the video. The connector comes apart easy. Takes me a few seconds to do it my way. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-V0g75q8SAuU.html

@VacMaster1991 yup such is the drawback of Dyson putting the wiring into the canister assembly. From the V10 right down to the gen 5, however the gen 5 and the detects have a sensor in one of the cyclones to detect particle size upstream the outer edge of the cyclone

The reason why Dyson makes it so difficult because they don't want you in there which I completely understand. Cyclones cleans themselves and every once in a while you could help it by taking your other vacuum and clean it out without taking it apart. Taking it apart will AVOID YOUR WARRANTY!
@VacMaster1991
@VacMaster1991 3 года назад
But, the area around the cyclones get caked with dirt. They stink after a while. Dyson needs to think of that and make the cyclone easy to clean. Both LG and Samsung cordless vac's, there cyclones can be washed along with the bin and both filters. The inability to clean the cyclone has been something I have always not liked about Dyson's vacuums. They still haven't fixed that issue. Dyson is the only brand I am aware of that makes user serviceability incredibly difficult. And also this was just for a video. I would NEVER recommend doing this. It's easer to use compressed air or a leaf blower.
@Matthew-jp4sn
@Matthew-jp4sn 3 года назад
@@VacMaster1991 Definitely not a air compressor or a leaf blower because you could crack it. Washing your cyclones? Wouldn't recommend that because it could make the smell worse. That's how cyclones cleans themselves they get built with dirt and then it gets heavy and falls. (Just like water up in the clouds). Then next time you empty the bin it falls out.
@VacMaster1991
