Nice one Dylan, a very timely reminder - mine has just been sent, and I would indeed have forgotten. They are the future so the geriatric UK needs to try the novel idea of having a future proof plan - I can't see it happening of course but we have had a say before we get ignored. Im 60 and just LOVE riding these scooters in my rural area, with my quad bag on my back :)

I have been driving EV's for nearly 5 years and going electric is a way forward. I have noticed some e-scooters here in Stafford and can't wait to test it and make video about my experience. Great channel 👍 Excellent video. New sub here 😊

Thanks for the heads up mate, I'll fill out the forms, I use an escooter as a mobility scooter, it's a beefy one mind probably twice the size and yours. I personally think ALL escooters should be legal, they are no more of a problem them push bikes, I'm riding mine no matter what.

Working in Central London, I purchased one last week. Damn Mrs won't let me drive it til its legal... Fingers crossed that's coming soon and I've managed to beat the scooter-rush!

Usain Bolt ran at 27.8 MPH with no helmet wearing Nike trainers, they need to ban these trainers and not allow them on public footpaths or roads and make it compulsory to wear a helmet while wearing them ! We could try a rental scheme to establish whether or not they are safe, but research suggests that thousands of people have been killed already while wearing these trainers on pedestrian crossings alone, so in all likelihood I can't imagine we will be allowed to wear trainers for much longer !!!

They should make a legislation for these, make them LEGAL ! It's not a drug or something, it's like an e-bike ! It's the 21st century !

Legalise private owned and ban rentals lol , I will continue to ride mine whatever the outcome , I can't see how rental can be legal and private not , private owners will (are) more experienced in using E Scooters hance less accidents likely from a novice first time renter.

I wonder if this consultation will Include Segway's, electric skate boards, or those hover boards that don't actually hover...! I have been stopped while riding a bike once. I was riding in a designated circle path through a pedestrianised area at the time, so I was a wee bit surprised to see a copper flag me down. Turns out it was Friday evening and this area was about to turn from your week day commute, into a hive of pubs and nightclubs. So, even thou it is perfectly legal and safe for me to ride there, its against the law to do so on Friday, between the hours of 5 and 8pm 🤪 Am I being clinical, or is that red tape gone mad......! The same could happen to escooters, 16 plus age limit is stupid - dose that mean all those children who got one for Christmas, or birthday now have to be told they can't have it? Me personally, I could take, or leave an electric scooter, but this makes me wanna go out and get one, just to annoy the red tape people 😉😎

Time to regulate but I'm always sceptic and careful about public consultation as often an excuse as they will do wathever they want today, tommorow and whenever it will suit them!

Crazily the uk government think that enforcing helmets use would lessen bike use and this would harm more lives than not wearing a helmet in the first place. Makes no sense at all to me as saving a single life with mandatory helmet wear can only be a good thing I personally don’t have an issue with escooters but in truth people already use them everywhere. I saw a dad riding on local bike paths with two girls around 6-9 years old following on their escooters with no helmets The mind boggles. At least he didn’t have a helmet either so they can all be together now intensive care when the inevitable happens

Police seem to not care of been riding past them for days now if even spoken to the police they said what is the difference between an e scooter and an e bike? As long as your not causing trouble then they see no reason to stop me

Done. How can they put a speed limit on an e-bike or scooter, I can ride a normal bike at 30mph where the speed limit allows, my 10 year old son has been clocked at 21mph down hill on his stunt scooter (cheers mavic 2 pro🤣). Any legislation needs to be realistic.

Great Video as always. Thank you for bringing to our attention the government survey on E Scooters . Didn’t know bugger all about it until you’re video. Sounds like yet again somebody with no knowledge prepared the survey. Why didn’t they get some of the scooter community Ben fox for one and others together and plane the survey. Yes have filled the survey out. Have disagreed with some of the questions. Like power limit . 350 watts is fine if you are built like a stick insect. But for us larger people . With a weight over 100kgs . The scooter wouldn’t go along on the flat let alone a small incline. Sorry for the rant. It just seems people with no idea make make rules and so on. What’s a matter with good old common sense . Stay safe and keep them videos coming .

Personally I can’t understand why the powers that be don’t Start introducing Electric Scooters 🛴 to our roads after work on 1 or 2 days a week ! as to get the public Used to this easy and essential mode of public transport And in the mean time ‘ a lot of our Towns and cities must Change a lot of our road networks to accommodate this inevitable Change in public transport on British roads ? Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be anyone in Government Listening 👂

My simple answer, follow the money; that's where the real solutions will come out over this lunacy!!?? People who have these please be careful already been a few deaths from drivers not looking and hitting people on them in London. I'm not bothered by them wouldn't buy one, but think people should have a choices of transport that is clean for the environment. Will you have to pay road tax?

Madness, the governments have been banging on about cutting co2 emissions for years. E scooters come along and its nothing but red tape to stop them. Maybe covid will change it all. I'd buy one tomorrow if I could ride it on the roads. No more dangerous than an ebike.

The only trouble is with e scooter they arnt waterproof so rain would kill it. Most of these e scooter tend to break very easily. E bikes much safer and they tend to handle pot holes and rain very well. I'm sorry but I think e scooter are totally dangerous as the wheels are too small

Ive has a e-scooter for a while now, they are clean noise pollution is virtually nil , I think e-scoot speed should 30mph like most countries if its 15 it does not make people want to buy one if they work say 15/20 away, I have bike enthusiasts taking over me on a regular basis in the country side some I swear are doing over 50mph, my scooter has disc brakes front and rear and abs to, tell me again what do race bikes have again and does the thought ever cross a policemans mind to pull them over ? hmm, ok I ride a Dualtron THUNDER AN AMAZING MACHINE oops sorry for the caps but does everybody who owns a Ferrari drive at 200mph ? I am 60 by the way and have grand father rights so please mr police man let me B I say. haha oh I wear FULL motor bike protection clothing, the Thunder is also lite up like a CHRISTMAS tree be seen be safe.

The problem is as with most things its the minority of morons who cause an issue. Escooters were a huge pain in my previous line of work back in 1997 so it just shows how slow we are at moving things forward. Its simple of we want to have them as with bikes - insurance, m-o-t and tax. Anyone without gets dealt with same as they do with a car in this situation. For my dogs I have to have PL insurance, yearly sign off from the vet and monthly signed off training, with the drone well surprise surprise all the same again within reason, if doing it properly. Always cover ur arse! It might not be your fault something happens but if you are responsible then you are covered 99% of the time. Sadly there are quite a few selfish people who only think about one person and not the full picture.

I'm all for the legalisation of escooters in the UK, as long as they are also required to follow the same rules as cyclists, I'd also like to see helmets being mandatory on the road or cycle network, and to add to it, I'd also like to see greater consequences for those who modify their ebikes/scooters to go faster than the regulations allow.
