@@SupahSmashBrotha96 the deep darkness, stonehenge, the area where you have to save onett, and the area where you have to go fight giygas are all complete nightmares to go through.
@@SupahSmashBrotha96 Stonehenge Base was really only hard because of the maze-like lay out. Invaded Onett isn’t too bad though. You have plenty of things you can do to revive party members, plus most of the fighting is relatively close to Ness’s house, which you can have a full heal, not to mention, after you get to where you need to go, you can just go Teleport B!
This is the point in the game I normally associate with the Soundtrack taking a "dark" turn. Starting here and ending with The cave of the past. Jesus christ.
It really is kind of a different piece from the rest of the game, huh? The instruments are just so loud and almost sound shattering. Beforehand, t was either, low smooth , sometimes creepy music for enemies and hostile locations, and bright jumpy music for the towns and some other cases. This piece is neither.
I have to say this part of the game really did make me feel like I was on a dangerous adventure.. only instead of stopping an evil alien force from destroying mankind, it was a quest to find a sacred shrine.

I’ve been humming this song all week! Of all the times I’ve had the EarthBound ost stuck in my head, this song is a first. It’s usually something much more upbeat! Deep Darkness is a very different kind of EarthBound track.
Unless you are fighting the Nuclear Reactor Robots...I battled one once, I wasted like 10 minutes trying to kill it together with a Starman Super (while he just recovered HP), just to have him explode and kill Jeff and Poo. You can always run away from them since they rarely attack.
i remember when first fighting Master Belch here, Jeff was dead, Ness and Paula had no PP and hardly any health and i thought i was going to lose and go through the whole freakin swamp but then Poo came out of nowhere and killed him, i was so H...A...P...P...Y...i still hate this place.
You can hear a small clip of an altered version of the 'Main Theme of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure' at 1:03, it's a little bit slower too but it's unmistakable. Keiichi Suzuki must've been a fan!
@masterloveless I was about in the same boat. I had to keep reviving Jeff. I had to use a Magic truffle on Ness or else I would of never had enough HP on Jeff for him to do a multibottle rocket and for Poo to swoop in and PSI starstorm :P .
really? i had my characters healthy and full of PP, i just kept spamming PSI Rockin Gamma and PK Freeze Omega, his attacks only took me 43 or so, don't run away from battles and that doesn't happen.
This song is just so weird to me it doesn’t sound like it belongs in the game. If you were to ask me what game this is from I’d probably tell you golden sun or goblins in the castle. It just doesn’t sound like earthbound to me. And it doesn’t even fit the setting of the swamp to me. It sounds like something that’d play in a castle. But regardless it’s still a well composed song that makes you feel a little unsettled. And the fact it doesn’t fit the swamp setting makes it more unsettling. Like there an impending doom waiting for you. Someone who wants revenge. Maybe that’s just me. *BURP*
