There’s something so funny to me about how Siege and Earthrise Optimus just explode when transforming. It looks like someone planted a bomb inside his chest and after it went off he managed to pull himself back into the shape of a truck.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio but does g1 roller fit in the earthrise trailer? I've heard that it can, but I've never seen any actual proof of it working and my earthrise prime hasn't arrived in the mail yet. Cause if g1 roller does fit inside, I'd rather just use the one I've got instead of paying 30 bucks for an upgrade kit.
That’s my guess - after two lines of G1 wanking, part 3 of the WFC trilogy is gonna be Unicron Trilogy-esque toys. We already got teased that with Galaxy Prime and Cybertron Defense Hot Shot in siege, so I feel the odds are good
Optimist Prime yeah. I don’t have the figure yet but one of my friends got it so I got to mess around with him for a bit. I was trying to find ways for him to hold the matrix with both hands then I had the idea to do the above the head, and it worked.
I don't think anybody could've expressed my feelings on this figure better and more eloquently than you did, sir. A stellar review that hit very close to home!
@@BlitzkriegOmega I'm only doing that with the seekers so I have the Seige set on display and earthrise for play because if we're honest earthrise seekers look like shit on a shelf and I've already done Seige skywarp custom paint from oll thundybum so I don't really have a choice and I want a set to match my coneheads but for datson Bros I like Seige is better just not a fan of earthrise
The voyager looks better in robot mode, but the earthrise one has a better truck mode, and the removable matrix is a lovely touch especially since he can indeed hold it with both hands, ( thew just didn’t figure out how to do it)
I get that same feeling with the G1 reissues. The reissue Astrotrain just as Siege/Earthrise Astro hits shelves. Soundwave gets a reissue at the same time as his Siege version comes out. It a conspiracy I tell ya.
Hasbro: "We're making a new toyline!" Everyone: "Oh, cool! What's it going to be?" Hasbro: "G1. Again." Insert Thew "I thought 'Generations' was supposed to be plural" clip here.
The best part of being self aware of Hasbro's cheeky shenanigans is we all know they'll re-release this exact figure two to three more times in different repaints. AND WE'LL BUY THEM
@@ChargeJN I definitely have Siege Prime, Classic Animation Prime, Galaxy Upgrade Prime, Ultra Magnus, and Earthrise Prime. Do I have a problem? Yes, it's called shelf space.
The Masterpiece figure has to jump through too many hoops to get a "perfectly" (not really) proportioned robot mode to look like the cartoon. Which feels a little bit off because I've gotten so used to the toys, including the original, having the leg wheels and actual fuel tanks instead of those tiny rectangles.
Came for the “Hasbro got us again”, was not disappointed. I’m getting this one too, Cause I’m a HUGE damn Optimus Prime mark. 90% Not even mad bro, 10% WTF Hasbro. Bonus: THICC Prime montage.
Same. I have 26 different Optimus Prime figures including repaints and will be adding the Earthrise Prime to my collection soon since I skipped both Siege versions and MP-44.
@@deang5386 Like MP-44, that is an Optimus Prime I will happily skip because I prefer having all wheels on all Transformers based on land vehicles be permanently exposed regardless of which mode they are in at the time.
I appreciate this review so much. Even though everyone would have been asking for it Thew really didn't have to make it. But he did and he put hella effort in it and it just makes me happy. Thew is a gift.
"if Universe 08 is G1 but modern and siege is G1 but cool then earthrise is G1 but again." But what thew didn't know was that Kingdom was G1 but with Beast Wars
I've never seen someone be so angry *because* he's so happy. And I'm totally with you on the whole War For Cybertron Trilogy so far. Like, what we've gotten are nigh-perfect representations of stone-cold classic bots, (and Prime *is* the best one. I held out on Seige prime and got paid handsomely for it) but there absolutely is a twinge of cynicism in them that's hard to get over. Also, Cliffjumper is not worth the $20 they're asking for it. It just isn't.
Jebediah Humperdink imma have to disagree on the cliffjumper part. I got him for $20 and i’m not disappointed. He is a good, articulated figure that while is small for the class is still great for how small he is. Plus the weapon he comes with is a throwback to when he could’ve ended the war. Also let’s be honest with people spending about $50-$100 on 3rd party legends class can we really judge hasbro for doing this?
To each their own but I disagree. Cliffjumper was the only first wave figure I wanted and he didn't disappoint me. Don't give a shit about his "parts-forming" backpack and I have no problem with him being a smaller Deluxe since the character is small. My only complaint is the very limited up and down head movement.
He is worth it because he is accurate to the size in the comics / toons. If he doesn't scale well to the other robots then reviewers will say he is the incorrect size. You guys want scale accuracy so that's why he is tiny. The new resizing means you get chunky figures that feel almost like voyager sizes. So if you get them all the value evens out. BTW he comes with a big gun which breaks into two for dual blaster action. The quality is in the screen accuracy and how it scales to other figures as people will display them in a group.
9:57 I cried with joy at that reference I thought everyone forgot about Convoy.. Which was literally one of my childhood movies.. Maybe mortals aren't as weak as I thought
I’ve always used trailers like a defensive wall during robot mode. Having three army-fodder characters crouching behind it with their guns over the top makes for a great display.
if siege gave us a cybertron optimus, then earthrise/the sequel of eartrise needs to give us updated versions of energon and armada optimus prime to even things out
Takara have been showing off a prototype Armada Prime for a while now, first sighted around the time they announced that Star Convoy reworked out of POTP Optimus Prime
Oh my god; when from 04:20 to 04:26 I get to hear that "Damn boi!" voice clip, I was laughing hard for that! XD Hah! X,D Laughed the breath out of me! XD
>This is the definitive modern G1 version of Optimus Prime Until next year when WFC Part 3 is revealed to be MOAR G1. And in 2021 when the next toy line is revealed to be MOAR G1. And in...I guess we’re just getting G1 rehashes for forever aren’t we?
There is the Studio Series line based on the live-action movies. It started earlier than the War for Cybertron trilogy and was recently confirmed by Hasbro to be evergreen.
Christopher Sichler I am aware of Studio Series. I’ve been collecting it since it was released back in 2018. My point still stands. And hilariously, and sadly, Studio Series is pretty much the only Transformers toyline that isn’t heavily G1.
@@johnrussell9901 There is also the Masterpiece Movie Series which I've been collecting since 2017 in addition to Studio Series. I passed on the MPM Bumblebee based on the Bumblebee movie because it wasn't as screen accurate as it should be and wasn't worthy of the Masterpiece name.
Bit late, but finally found one online somewhere on preorder, and after a month's wait it's coming in two days!! I'm so, so damn excited, the only Prime I've ever owned is an Armada version with no forearms because I got him from my primary school jumble sale. Yes, I was in primary school when Armada came out :')
I agree with a lot of people, G1 redos are getting a little bit annoying. Yes we all love those classic models. BUT! There are other transformers series that could do with redoing. Give us a year of Beast Wars, toy technology is so much better than the 90's and early 2000's me is crying out for a return to Armada, those designs were different but the toys were too clunky. Most recent Armada homage we had was Titans Armada Megatron who, frankly felt forced and wrong. But going back to classics and the Armada Hot Shot that came out, I loved that thing. (Ok I have the Japanese one that actually had missiles) Even if it did fall apart every time you transformed it and it was missing the wheel cannon, but it had the design and it worked.
I seriously want new versions of the Armada characters. I mean, Sideswipe's and Smokescreen's toys are quite crappy, so new, more posable versions could make them more bearable.
I was honestly expecting this so I never bought the Siege figure...though I DO wih they had used the Siege figures leg transformation for Earthrise too.
I love Siege Voyager Optimus Prime he's so good! I will also be getting Earthrise Optimus Prime cause he's also really good! Cant wait to display both of them next to each other!
I don't know why I let myself watch this over and over and over... like once a month for a dozen times... but I love it every time! I also Love that particular optimus prime and a lot of the offerings over the last several years and still feel like a mark, a schmuck, they got me. 😅
Thank you Thew, Had to work in near cyclonic weather conditions, was treated like crud by clients. Came home, cracked a beer and watched the review - days issues where quickly replaced by laughing. Thanks mate, made my day - keep plugging on.
Fun fact for thew 4 years ago, the front and back tyres being different is intentional and real world accurate since on trucks the front convex tyres are tginner tyres for steering and the concave tyres round back are beefier tyres to somehow not pop under the weight of the trailer
My Astrotrain can't stay on the shelf because I keep fiddling with the coalbox. I found a way to vertically attach Apeface in ship form to the Astrotrain feet extensions, and with Ironworks joining the fun I have a starport happening. Can't wait to have a full cityscape.
If you're okay with a Scout class Roller, there's 2010 Breacher. He was designed to be an homage to Roller. There's also Combiner Wars Rook or his recolor... Roller, who were inspired by Breacher. Full-circle references! Also, I am genuinely surprised you gave Astrotrain a pass. I'm actually quite enamored by it, and he sits pleasantly on my desk in Prince Parody mode.
Only issue is his back end in shuttle mode, but there's a decent upgrade kit from an indie parts group. I'd prefer it in a different material, though, but I guess I could always address that myself.
I got this a couple of weeks ago and have loved it since. The toy that best fits with it has got to be Cliffjumper. I got him today and wow hes the perfect size and is also amazing on his own.
I wasn't actively following Transformers when Earthrise was running, so I missed out on this. I just ordered the reissue from BBTS, and I'm super excited for it.
I'm recently getting back into collecting Transformers again. Bought the Seige Optimus but took it back the next day after hearing about this new Optimus. This is the one I wanted since it has a trailer and the alt mode looks close to the G1 cartoon I grew up watching. Have to say I'm happy with my Optimus, was lucky to find him the other day at Walmart (only 1 in the entire store). I just subscribed to your channel, very funny and entertaining review. Good job!!
You are poet among toy collectors. Always a beautiful review my man. Always spitting 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I found mine inexplicably on a sports shelf at Target after I enviously eyed some guy walking away with the last one. Always scan all the shelves for the good stuff. People hide em.
Fun fact: the front and back wheels not matching is actually accurate to real life trucks, and is a detail that has been replicated on some other optimus prime figures including mp-10.
Great review, never noticed how small the trailer is in this batch. Steering away from him because the Siege one is so good and at the same time different, but it's good to see him close up.
In the G1 cartoon in the add bumper when they show Optimus if you watch his transformation frame by frame you’ll see he had two grills so it never surprises me when they do it with the toys
