This is my take on how to replace your spark plugs on a DOHC 2.5 Subaru engine. It can definitely be a pain in the ass. This makes it pretty easy. Please like and subscribe y'all!!

Thank you good sir! There is barely any footage on RU-vid about this particular job. Definitely will come handy for me

You got it bud! I noticed that too, so I made this video to fill in some gaps.

The big difference between the PFR6B-11 that came on the car and the BKR5ES-11 you bought is that the BKR is a regular old-school copper spark plug, and the original PFR you took out is platinum. Both will work, but the PFR will last longer. Subaru specifically used the longer-lasting platinum on their DOHC motors because the job is more difficult on them. On these cars, I'd use iridium, which is supposed to be good for at least 100k miles. The NGK part number is IFR5E-11

Great video. I did it without removing *anything* from the engine bay though (or jacking either). I'm just dexterous like that. After replacing my ignition coil, spark plug wires, and spark plugs, I'm still getting the Cylinder 4 misfire. Gonna try a new fuel injector on just that cylinder.

Yeah yeah yeah, lol. Im getting older, and id rather not fight things as much as possible, so i opted to take a few bolts out to allow my giant hands into the bay.

I have a 1997 Subaru legacy gt 2.5l 4dr sedan. I'll have to look to see if it's the early model or late model when it comes to the coil pack. Didn't know it was a crossover year. Do you happen to have a video or know how to replace the back speakers. Cant get to the 6x9s. Car needs alot of work so I'm looking at all sorts of videos for it. Any feedback would be helpful. I have to do plugs and wires, brakes and rotors, both front cv axles, replace all the stock speakers and head unit. And re-tint all the windows.

Thank you so very much…I was led to believe the lifting of the mgr was the only way…then found you out here I recently purchased a 1999 Legacy Outback…learning lots of things…I see I can turn off the AWD system under the hood…your thoughts?

No problem. The autos have a fuse connector under the hood, that when you put a fuse in there, 15 amp I BELIEVE, it makes it fwd. It's for towing only, however I have used it for months on end without issue on my wife's old 95 Legacy LS. Why do you want to disable your and system?

What wires did you use what year wire or brand because I asked for 99 year and they didn't fit so I just didn't change the wire only the plugs

@legacynorthwest1249 3 года назад
Get 1998 wires, they will work. 97 was a crossover year. NGK wires are the only way to go. They are blue. I didnt do the wires for this, but i actually just ordered some yesterday. (For a 98 outback, 2.5) on Amazon.
