The truth is From Software should have given him more HP and a third phase. It's really not up to players to just let the boss play the music out. They made this fight too easy. Which sucks cuz they went and made Consort so ridiculous instead. I'd have rather fought this fight for ten phases over what they did for Promised Consort.
@@josephbulkin9222 Yeah? Then he needs even more health than that. I melt him with ease. Most people don't even get to see his first phase. This is a thread talking about how people burn him too fast to hear the song. It's pretty common, especially with coop, or spirit ashes. He just keels over like Morgott. Which is a shame he's really fun.
You know, I had that constant thought when playing Armored Core 6. I loved mechs as a kid (still do, but as a kid I really loved them), if you showed AC6 to kid-me he would've passed out for sure
Such a phenominal boss, a fair and a balanced boss. Hard but fun to learn move sets. It was insanely satisfying to overcome the difficulty of this and messmers fight. On the surface both feels hard as hell to defeat initially. Once you have everything down. They feel like a dance.
I didn’t really know how to rank midra after my first run bc I didn’t feel like I really mastered his moveset. Now though I totally get it, it feels like haunting dance with a really unique flow and one of the best OST in the game. It’s also an interesting choice that the boss who symbolizes chaos has one of the most precise and dancelike movesets in the game
@@chalco5349 not the hardest compared to other dlc or even main game bosses but he offers a fair challenge and depending on ur scadutree level he can be quite tanky and heavy hitting
@@chalco5349 he wasn’t very hard but do you need a boss to be very hard for it to be fun? It’s difficulty ofcourse was no joke either, he was hard enough for you to not take him lightly. But yes if you choose to use bleed builts or summons ofcourse dude is easy because he has no bs moves like that of Malenia and radahn. Also if you choose to take on him at very high scadutree level he gets easy , I found him at level 10, but defeated him on 14, 14 felt more balanced for him, 10 was hard as hell, He was 2 shotting me.
@@Veloketh the frenzied flame feels joy in burning away everything. Midra doesn’t dodge attacks like every other boss too if u haven’t noticed. The flame is too ecstatic to take the fight serious because why should it? It’s only gotta get through one tarnished before melting the entire realm away.
Midra, Bayle, and Messmer, are single-handedly the best bosses I've ever fought in a fromsoftware game, in terms of cinematics, hype, and overall enjoyment. Im especially addicted to Midra's OST. On the other hand, Im fighting Genichiro in Sekiro rn, so that'll probably make it to the top as well, its so fun
Same I love all 3 of them, their fights all have really unique flows that fit with their OST’s perfectly. Also nice, Genichiro is one of my all time favorites as well, he’s in my top 3 with Ludwig and Messmer. Good luck fighting him, he can be pretty tough at first!
yeah I was really confused because based on his small stature and the shot in the trailer I didn’t even think he would be the actual boss at first. But oh boy
lore-wise he kinda is. Like it doesn’t really matter if we defeat Elden beast or Miquella, life will continue under any order. But if the frenzied flame and chaos takes the world, all life will be lost
If they ever did another dlc (although I don’t think they will) frenzied flame final boss seems like an obvious next choice as it is the biggest threat to the world. Also it would be sick to have some sort of royalty as a final frenzied boss to kinda parallel the king in yellow. Imagine a legacy dungeon in the final area of a dlc leading to a throne room and a headless corpse adorned with armor and a yellow flowing cape stands up and his head ignites into a frenzied eye. Honestly the possibilities are endless with what a cool final frenzied boss could be.
Oh, so you CAN avoid that big bellyflop explosion, I never managed up until now so I just tanked it with my Wondrous Physic and the second time just ate the damage like the buffoon I am, I´m no longer used to these "run away from me" explosions, I thought they were a relic that died with Dark Souls I but seriously this boss is like a dream come true: Solid Camera, Nice OST, awesome atmosphere and the best of all: Complex, yet readable and well telegraphed attack combos and even better: PROPER DOWNTIMES!!! the more I bash my head against Consort Radahn the more I long to go back to have another walz with good old Midra again
they still do those from time to time like the placidusax nuke or malenia’s aeonia, sometimes you just gotta run a bit. Although it might be possible to dodge or jump it, I just haven’t tried a lot bc the running works unless you corner yourself close to him. And I agree, the attack windows against midra are very well done and reliable and let you play quite aggressively. Good thing they gave him a massive health pool too. Such a satisfying fight to master
Great vid. I absolutely love Midra: his design, his moveset, his background and the OST are all fantastic. It's good to see him shine. I will second what others have said about the first "fight", though: it could've been a great opportunity to build suspense and tension. His lines are so memorable! I imagined it like this: you WALK in -- cautiously -- and surprised at the horrific figure in front of you. He gives you the speech and lunges at you with that attack -- you're then forced to reluctantly fight him. Tap, tap, rap and it's over. Silence. And then the real horror begins :)
Thanks! I actually had a take like that recorded for phase 1 so I didn’t have to spend much time on it while practicing phase 2. In the end I just kept the entire final attempt without switching phase 1 but whatever, just one more reason to return to this awesome boss and record another vid :)
I do adore how his moveset is so in tune with his music and in doing so pulls you into this dance as well, making this soundtrack genuine part of this fight. I adore this boss not just for fairness, but also for how much fun I have on this boss. He is one of the few I genuinely want to die more on to fight him more and only the best ones do that for me. Like Morgott, Messmer or Bayle and in other ones like Maria, Gehrman, Gayle or Alonne. Genuinely amazing fight. Which makes all the more sad that things like Consort Radahn or Gayus or Senessax also exist in this DLC.
yeah I could fight this guy for hours, once it clicks you really get into an addicting rhythm, just like messmer, genichiro, maria, alonne etc. Thats something I really value in a boss too. I like consort Radahn actually (not lorewise since I would’ve preferred Godwyn) but goddamn gaius and especially senessax are actual pain
@@Veloketh It is funny how they put the absolute WORST Dragon From ever made right before the best one... It's baffling. That trash heap is harder than Bayle himself.
@@Veloketh Good lord I just had such a good fight with Bayle. The moment that violin was about to drop into crescendo Bayle died with that lightning striking him. That will forever be in my memory now. That was amazing. And Igon's scream afterwards. That was perfect.
@@AzraelSoulHunter also whoever decided it would be funny to put the worst dragon with lightning attacks in a cave full of water deserves a special kind of punishment
@@Veloketh If you ever want to do another video. I recommend maybe Deathknight set with Dragon Cult spells. For no other reason than just the contrast between you and Igon in that position. I was playing in that fight with a build centered around Dragon Cult (although with Katana because on NG+ Longhaft did pretty poor damage) and I adored how different me and Igon were. I think going into Bayle with Dragon Cult makes for perfect clash against Igon's Communion. Two different kinds of Dragon fighters representing different sides of the war where both in the end destroy this great evil that is Bayle. Also I do love the clash of wearied Death Knight forgotten to time fighting alongside this hobo looking dragon communion maniac. There is dignity and violence. Nobility and sincerity. Fire and Lightning.
@@EliteMonsterAdventure I actually started playing MH World yesterday with my friend for the first time lol, setting up the multiplayer was definitely a struggle. We didn’t get too far and I chose switch axe for now, was pretty fun to fight with, felt a bit like a Bloodborne weapon
@@Veloketh Which is harder in your opinion, the Monster Hunter series or the Soulsborne series? To me, it’s probably the Soulsborne series like Elden Ring lol.
@@EliteMonsterAdventure I don’t think I can say yet, I haven’t died in MHW yet but I’m also still at the starting point. I’m looking forward to tougher battles tho, hope there’s some peak bosses in the game. The combat definitely feels deep and I think you can get crazy with the combos but together with all the mechanics and menus it’s a bit much to get used to rn lol
This is easily my favorite boss fight in Elden Ring as whole. It was originally Mohg, but this took the cake EASILY. I'm a sucker for good lighting and good arena design. The music was phenomenal, almost unparalleled. The best part is, you can always rewatch the intro cutscene in this one when you fight him again, compared to other bosses who you can only watch them once. The boss fight itself isn't "hard for the sake of being hard". It's methodical and awesome. The build up was perfect too: having to go through the abyssal woods was terrifying enough, then you come across this guy at the end. Then you learn about his lore afterwards, which gets you more engaged in the fight next time you do so. Only thing i wish is that we could get his outfit and Frenzied head.
you’re the first person I’ve seen mentioning the lighting and arena design, it’s gorgeous! I’m glad fromsoft made another dancer/sister friede type arena that is set on fire by the boss and this one just looks so haunting and the flames look almost dreamlike and surreal, while the only natural light comes from one high up window. You’re spot on with ur description of the fight and the build up, I’m a huge fan of the manse too. I wish they had made a cellar or basement area for it to make it a longer dungeon tho
@@Veloketh I agree. In one of the hidden rooms you can find behind a painting, there’s a bunch of piles of “things” under canvases/tarps. Those things are fingers and eggs, which was a shock to me. What was he doing with all of those fingers?
@@drones8742 oh??? I need to give that one another look, I really wanna know more about midra and nanaya they’re such a cool but kinda separate part of the lore
It took me forever to find the way down there but it was worth it. Torrent‘s jump scare, the creepy messages on the ground and the stealth sections with the aging untouchables were all incredible. My favorite boss build up next to bayle and base game radahn for sure
thanks! Yeah jumps can really make a fight flow different and create some neat attack windows. The idea to crouch wasn’t mine tho, I saw someone on twitter do it and had to try it
Thanks! I didn’t come up with it tho. It’s pretty funny, I wonder if the devs thought about that or even intended it And yeah, Midra is definitely an S tier boss for me
I was so scared to learn guard counter thinkin they were really difficult, after I got over it it immediately leveled up rellana & midras boss fight they stagger so easily with counters
nice, I feel like guard counters are an overlooked mechanic by many players (me included). I really wanna try a build with guard counters and deflecting hard tear
@@Veloketh I think its given the boss design like now I’ll only ever try it with humanoid enough but the bigger ones that I’m sure guard counters work fine against I just can’t do it 😂 we need more humanoid bosses like rennala & midra
The age rating is 16. Best age ratings are as low as possible, im guessing fromsoft did that to get more sales wirh having a low age rating. If it was shown midras head plucking out or messmers eye gouged out, it’d probably go upto 18
@@Elden-Bear yeah that makes sense. It’s not bad tho, leaving stuff to the imagination can be quite powerful too. I could also imagine it would be a pain to animate these scenes in a realistic way, like the sword looks a bit too big for Midra’s tiny arm to fully pull out but I might be wrong
I recorded a no hud fight for metyr last week but the fight wasn’t very clean since I didn’t intend to post it so idk if I should upload it or wait for my next run to make a proper one
yeah it’s irritating bc I recognized the move and I know the timing but still didn’t react properly lol, I really liked that fight tho so I kept it going
