I think it's that their most common exposure to it is in arguments on the internet where someone dismisses them for being a "straight white cis (insert gender here)" So by deduction with only context clues and not an iota of curiosity, they have a negative connotation of it.

My theory is that they don't want to be called cis because they see themselves as "normal" and using a specific adjective removes the implication that cis is the default and trans is deviant.

I'm so glad I never joined. I tried as a kid once and got locked out by the 'the password you just made isn't right' cycle and gave up. Rejecting the term cicgender does NOT mean rejecting the term transgender. It just means don’t put a sub label on the 99% of the population just so transgenders can feel better about themselves or not feel like others. I’m not a cisman, I’m just a man just as it’s not ciswoman busy just woman.

I don't think you understand, you also don't understand statistics as the global average of trans identifying individuals is actually 3%, (6% in Switzerland), thats still hundreds of millions of individuals, 240million as an approximate and thats not including the closested ones. And thats roughly the same amount of people with red hair. And 1% is still a lot of people about 80million people worldwide.

I actually support a legal obligation of identifying people as transgender on legal documentation, I don't want it rejected at all. As for JK Rowling, she was a self made millionaire, but of course we know you're all about taking accomplishments away from women right?

We're not even talking about pronouns at this point. There's plenty of trans people who don't like being outed as trans but the word "transgender" is not a dirty word or a slur, which is the issue at hand. In a perfect world, I'd love it if everyone respected each others' pronouns but I'm not one of these California activists who think you should be jailed or silenced for misgendering people either. You can walk up to a cisgender genetic male or female and call them the opposite too if you so desire. You'd be a dick, but it's not something to pass legislature over, which I still think is how all this backlash started. Trying to introduce respecting each others' identities into law was a bad idea. Cisgender people not wanting to be called cisgender is not a problem, because nobody denies the existence or legitimacy of being cisgender. You know why there's a Pride Month? Because being LGBTQ has always been demonized, the rights of those people to live free have been infringed upon for centuries, and we live in a progressive society in which the ability to embrace who you are is finally okay, or is supposed to be. You can be proud of being cisgender too but you're missing the point if you feel like you're missing out on something. It's like saying white lives matter in response to the BLM movement. Of course they do, but BLM was a response to systemic violence against blacks and unfair prison sentencing, and if you get butthurt about someone saying black lives matter, you missed the point there too. Being cisgender is fine, being transgender is fine, neither word is a dirty word, we're not talking about misgendering people who openly identify as one sex or the other, and you're missing the god damned point. Because women do not need adjectives. They are woman. Trans women need adjectives because they are a man.

Edit: but also a trans person is a person, not an it, I know some people use it/itself as a pronoun but that does give you the right to use the term it to dehumanize anyone because of their identity. However if someone does use it/itself as a pronoun go right on ahead. They are trans would be a way better way to humanise someone.
