Knock /Da Deathstroke Detroit vs. Everybody from a technical standpoint is one of his best verses ever written. Period. The different flows on that song, varying rhyme schemes interwoven, really extensive stuff. At the very least the writing is 10/10.
he could have legit gotten every rapper as a feature. if you wanna make political tracks get Kendrick or Black Thought or joey badass. There are so many good newschool rappers too, that would have been nice. what about joyner? the features could have upgraded the tracks so much.
Santino Rubano Because it's better to get artists on tracks where you know you're superior to them, instead of artists who can match your level or outmatch you. And then trash those rappers you know you're better than on your own song so you can make them look even dumber.
I don’t think any new school artist WOULD have renegaded him, but I definitely think it’s possible. I don’t know how, but I think we could have gotten a better verse from em if he heard his features just body the track. I think em would have stepped it up if someone like Joyner Lucas was on the track just going in. Just my opinion. I wish the features would have been better, more politically incorrect, artists. Maybe someone like Joyner that isn’t afraid of just saying something offensive. Could have been even better
Eminem has always responded to criticism with "in your face" rebuttals. He's not supposed to construct a legimtate and a professional argument with solid points. That takes all the fun away from the track
@jackpress15 Nah, I got an awesome track to listen to, so idgaf whether he dealt with it or not. And about your last line, I just debunked it so yeah, you're wrong. Move on.
Klasse You didn't debunk anything. All you did was say that you like it and that it makes for a more exciting track. That's an opinion, but not a fact. And no, this track was mediocre, do you Stans even know what that word means?
@jackpress15 I debunked the argument that a legimtate and serious response wouldn't be appreciated, and a proof is Walk on Water, the track is too boring for a single, so is a legitimate argument would be boring for what should be a fiery response. And it wasn't mediocre, you might not like it, but objectively quality wise it's great with a good beat and and impeccable flow, technicality and rhyme scheme. It seems like you're just a butthurt guy that lives on Eminem "failing"
Em's point in the verse is that no matter what he does, no one is satisfied. If he raps like this, y'all want him to rap like that. Then he does that and you want him to rap like this again. He does more modern music and people say it's too poppy. He spits more shady type of lyrics and people say he needs to grow up (hence the be more like macklemore bar). Even this verse, the best shit he's spit in years is getting downplayed and critiqued by people like you. I think he's done with it now though, if this verse is anything to go by. Hopefully he just makes the shit he wants to make and whoever doesn't like it doesn't have to listen to or buy it. He said himself that he doesn't have to make music anymore, he does it because he loves it. I hope that this album trimmed the fat of shitty fans and Em can spend the rest of his career with solid fans, with reasonable critiques, and who actually appreciate artist like him. Who am I kidding though, y'all still gonna go buy his shit regardless and complain. Hopefully he ignores that shit though.
@@carnictus23 You say he's just a tiny old loser, but ironically Eminem is one of the most famous person in the world. Everyone knows who he is. Compared to you, I mean look at you. what tf are you? No one cares about you. Get a life!
Dudes album was aimless. He wanted to take care of his whole fan base on this album. If he really wanted to sort out his whole fan base he should have made this album a double disk. Krit did it and it was genius.
Lol double disk only works if you have 2 disks worth of good material. Eminem didn't even have one disc of good material, no thanks. But I'm lookin forward to what he does next after this remix
I hear what you're saying but he could have easily pushed the album back a little more and done it. Me personally I'm insulted there were no MC features on this album. As much as I like 2chains he is not an MC's MC. Most of the backlash Em got for this album came from the hip hop community that was mad wondering where that real Marshall Mathers shit was at. Think about it you think Em is the kind of MC who does not have gems in vault. Do you really think Em is the Kind of MC that cant make a call to even the most elite of MC and be like hey can you make a week or two week deadline for this track. One thing I've always wanted to hear was Em on a track with Black Thought. The majority of the album was heavy on pop and melodic shit. This dude needed a dense hip hop disk and he would have been straight. But fuck it that's a whole lot of what if. I do hope he does right by his day one fans though. This would be a very sour note to go out on fire ass remix and all.
Nope, Revival "Not At All Aimless", read epro review for understanding revival, its about "Marshall" Begins With Marshall's Thought & Feeling, The Vulnerability, Concern & Hip Hop Status, Moves To His Fantasy, Love & Ends With His Life Details - Need Me (yes), in my head, castle & arose I common start - walk on water, believe, chloraseptic & great ending with mix in between of his views, concerns & fantasy U Have To See Album In Two Parts, Not His First Album With About 20 Songs, All Of Them Are 17+ (which is MMLP2) Can't compare with other album, u can't compare laptop woth building, two different things U can't rate it too, can u really rate someone's life?
Ik lil pump is trash, I hated him back in the day when I first heard about him in my own way, but lil pump actually has some funny music I like. Like d rose. I like when he says d rose many times, it’s funny to me in my opinion.
JSAProductions "Alright and I'm just gonna take a quick break right now to give the plug to my boys in the ku klux klan. I love ya. Keep doing your thing guys. Dont listen to the haters. Alright back to Mr. Eminem.
Rup Tratin Thats not a well kept secret. He doesnt seem like the kind of person to see black people if he doesnt have to. I dont care what others think its just the feeling I get from him.
I love the verse, and I think he did good on answering the criticism. The most important aspect of his verse as of now is the actual lashing out. I wouldn't expect any deeper critique. I'm an artist myself, and I know that being able to see the criticisms given to a piece I've made can take time. The love I have towards what I make can make it very difficult to view my own art objectively, which is what I would say you're wishing he would do. But I'd say it's too early for that. His emotional reaction to this (his verse) is by that logic the perfect reaction, imo. It's based on his love for his own art, no matter how wack it was. He's being honest as an artist. He's not a music critic. He's an artist. That's his first job, and his reaction will most likely mirror that. So I would never expect him to come with a verse where he picks his own album apart the way for instance you'd do or pick a part the more in depth critique he's been given. I'd rate the verse a solid 9/10
Says a lot when your throwaway remix is better than your entire album. Guess Em needs to head back into the studio and remix every track from Revival 😂
He album wss decent not hos best but decent encore was 10 times worst than revival with all that soft singing bs although some tracks on encore were fire like toy soldier
Anthony Witherow true, I don't know about bizarre I think he's serious but 50 cent has beef with someone every year and nothing happens. He's a proper troll who knows how to market his shows/films
I mean yeah I'm ok if he wants to do that. But in my opinion the album was crap and I have no idea why he thought it was a good idea. And I seriously haven't heard of anyone who enjoyed it
I understand artistic freedom of expression, but once you release your art to the public people will either consume or reject it. Love Em, but Revival was trash. Ironically the remixed original is the one I hated the most. In that track he attempted to do a “Migos”. Can’t do it...
"Bi-tch, you couldn't roast me even with the shit I wrote you!" I get a feeling for real that this was a direct response to either Shawn Cee or Fantano.
Maybe the next em album we’ll get more Eminem suitable features like JID, Kanye, J Cole, Denzel Curry, Jay Rock, Flatbush zombies, or The Weeknd. The Weeknd would be dope on an em track. Early Eminem content was very much from the same place as Abel’s earlier work. Drugs + pain + horror
I liked Castle/Arose, Walk on Water, Framed and Remind Me/Bad Husband.I think those are really good tracks that just get slept on because of all the unlistenable features and barely passable songs on the rest of the album.
If Eminem knows about your existence, will he mention you in the disstrack on the critic, and most importantly, is it going to be better then the ZIPPER shoutout.
Anthony reacted to the diss back in the day, and when people point at him and say he's the best music critic on youtube. He probably didn't saw a single review but he will remember how he saw his own reflection on Anthony's forehead.
'Heat' from his album Revival has more wordplay than ANY rap album released the entirety of 2017. The same people who call Drake a lyricist say Revival was trash. It's comical.
I actually enjoyed his album, I thought it was good, there were definately songs that I didn't like that much but it was good as a whole. It's absolutely not his best but it's not his worst either, which would be Encore, in my opinion. I also think that this cholaseptic verse was the best on the album (if it counts).
i don´t mean to judge you about it, but i think we can agree that most "hip hop heads" dont like him because how corny he is. even though i dont consider my self a "hip hop head"
Lol he brought up Macklemore in the context that he's a more "mature" rapper. They are both older rappers so they're expected to be mature, at least to the critics.
didn't get the "..Eminem going into a more reflective direction, when the album actually got here" WoW the only song he did that on? Did you not listen to In Your Head, Castle, Bad Husband, Believe, AROSE!! he was speaking from his deathbed! i think thats alot of reflective songs. And very personal ones.
don't think so highly of yourself. eminem wasn't talking to you RU-vid reactors. bizzar from d12 confirmed it was towards joe budden and his comments on the complex
Solid ass verse, some valid points on people hating on tracklist b4 anything actually came out. But he didn't take any responsibility about being obviously unmotivated and just kinda phoning it in
I think thats all about rage. Like when he released his first three LPs, he was coming from a dead end job, a crazy mom, a wife whom he hated.. almost everything was f***ed up for him. Thats why he had that rage, that anger. But with time rage was finishing. People liked chloraspetic because again he had that same rage. "When that fuel exhaust is coolin' off 'Cause you don't got nothin' left to prove at all 'Cause you done already hit 'em with the coup de grâce" - Believe
Fantano: "Eminem addresses the dumbest and silliest criticisms and demands of him" Also Fantano: "Pulling up the worst rhymes and lines in any eminem track he wants to shit on" Also Also Fantano: Not being able to to have some self reflection to realize what he's doing.
Ace Dragon idc which is worse. You said that revival is above average for today’s standards which it isn’t for countless reasons but the mixing objectively proves this wrong
Xaero Yes, I guess you could say it is clichè as the popular opinion as virtually everyone online except his diehard fans think this album is a bigger letdown then you in bed. Not to mention, why would Anthony care if it is a "clichè review". Do you not understand how opinions work?
All I'm saying is that he got offended by Eminem mocking him lol. Anthony delivered as much content as a reaction channel. That's pretty lazy. And also, I don't like when Eminem does pop features but I enjoyed a lot of other songs on the album which could still make a great album. People are making 5 song albums nowadays. 10 non-pop songs on the album is more than enough. "everyone online except his diehard fans" I guess this means you know how opinions work then :) I think you're just riding the hate bandwagon because you're afraid to like this music as you think it would make you "not cool".
He is not really defending the album tho. He's mad because people were saying that he fell off and that he should retire already. "I took an L when I dropped my last album, it hurt me like hell but I'm back on these rappers". This was said by Em in Lucky You, Kamikaze.
That was the Eminem I was waiting for that never showed up on Revival. The one thing shown here that was missing from the album - passion. You can hear it from the moment he comes on here and he never lets up. I'm glad it was criticized, if it inspires him to make more stuff like this.
This is overall a "pretty good" verse? Is that what you just said? Everything you say from this point on is CANCELED if you think his verse was "pretty good." Even if you worked on your verse for 30+ years, you couldn't come up with a verse like Em. At first I didn't think this...but now you are a borderline hater now.
Joe said about Em on everyday struggle that he is using the struggle of black people to sell records and make profit. No wonder he is vex, pretty low blow. Yeah the song was trash but I don't think his intentions were to cash in on our struggle... Not something you'd expect from your mate..
Clemd 1 actually he said the ppl behind em is doing that he specifically said he knows em is true bout his feelings bout the struggle of black ppl...did u even watch the full episode
except he would with Em, because he's been pussy footing around him for the last year refusing to say a bad word when we all know he fell off... the songs shit but it ain't what he made it out to be
I don't think eminems anger comes from the legitimate criticism, I think what's mentioned in the song makes him angry, not what isn't. A lot of creators get upset when they get unhelpful feedback rather than helpful feedback.
i also think eminem raps best when he he's angry about something or himself or whatever but i guess nowadays he just settled down a little bit and processed a lot of the shit he has been through and therefore it feels like he lost some of his fire but i think he's just... happier than back in the days and we should be glad about that
Something I've noticed about Eminem is that he only seems to have some respect for himself artistically when he's under fire. On-top of the world with Slim Shady/Marshal Mathers LP and The Eminem Show, he's comfortable, releases Encore which receives lukewarm reception, so he followed it up with a greatest hits CD which received overwhelmingly positive reception, he's comfortable again, and then he drops Relapse which was absolutely DUKIED on, so he tried to listen to the critics and come back with Recovery in-which he tried to bring back the old Em. There was effort displayed but he still missed the mark, so he then came through with Marshal Mathers LP 2 which was actually decent, Rap God in particular was incredibly well recieved, he's comfortable with himself artistically again, then comes Revival and he once again utterly shits the bed, more-so than ever by a huge margin in every way, then this verse drops and again we're back to everyone acknowledging him as the student of the game that he is. I think he needs to let go of his insecurities, he doesn't need to aim for a commercial sound to appease people because his name and status alone will draw in sales. Simultaneously, he doesn't need to worry about how he comes off artistically at this stage in his career either, he's paved a huge lane for himself to expand and evolve artistically, he can do whatever he wants and he doesn't realize that he's free to do what he wants with his art, and I think his insecurities are ultimately what leads to continuously disappointing albums followed by such hit and miss expectations. He needs to know there's no new, or old Eminem, there's JUST Eminem.
Good songs of Encore: Like Toy Soldiers Yellow brick road Mocking bird Never Enough Spend some time One Shot 2 Shot Encore Evil Deeds (the 1st verse was wack tho) Mosh We As Americans (These are my opinion)
I don't know why he's dissing everyone else for not liking Revival when he should be dissing all the people around him who told him it was good and most importantly himself for not rapping like this on the album.
Serious question. When you say a production on a song/album is bad, what are you listening out for? I don't know a whole deal about the production of music, so I'm wondering what you listen for to assess that?
Oh ok. Just listened to both of them again. I mean, stay wide awake sounds a bit better than untouchable, but I'm still not sure I understand this whole 'good/bad production thing.' I'll admit, Untouchable sounds pretty rough around the edges and just thrown together. It's as if they've taken elements from different songs and put them in the one track, without making an effort to make it sound like a single, whole track. Whereas wide awake sounds a lot more realised. Although, i'm not sure if that's because there isn't as much going on. It's almost the same beat playing throughout most of the track, so there doesn't seam to be as big of a chance of error occurring. I dunno, is this going down the right track?
As fire as this verse was, the fact that he has to defend Revival like this means that he either knows that the shit is trash but is too stubborn/bossed around to admit it, or he's legitimately ignorant to how bad it is.
I think you missed some of the nuance of his response. He's talking about how people wanted him to be woke and not offensive. Then he tried some woke stuff and people pushed back hard. When he's talking about Maclemore, I don't think he's talking about rapping technically like Maclemore. He's talking about content. It ties in with the talk about conscious rap later. He can't win for losing is what he's kinda saying here.
what annoys me is that he's regarded as one of the greatest to ever do it, he has respect from like every artist on earth and he chooses those features? he could've tested himself if he chose to rap with talented rappers and it could've brought the best out of him, like this song did. instead he chose to make poor pop songs with washed up lyrics. he killed his own career.
