Our lives in China. We take a visit to Thames Town, which is supposed to be a replica of the UK (not Germany). Will we make it in such hot weather? The hottest in over a century... Stay tuned.
Came here from kwesi channel, really like both of you young people, heard that you folks plan to get married in hk, as Terry has HKID. The quarantine in HK has been relaxed now, also you need to plan when to register as well. I think they now online so much easier than when I had mine many many moons ago 😂. Btw the bonus is if you get married to terry, you can immediately get hkid as well, and these days HK govt has been doling out cash to it’s resident 🤣
Hey! Oh yea Kwesi, he's a cool guy. I really enjoyed my interview with him. We actually already got married! In June, right when the Shanghai lockdown ended funny enough. We just did it online, was super easy. We're going to have to wait until the borders open to do a proper ceremony and all that. I heard getting married to a HK resident doesn't allow you to get a HK ID though, like you need to live in HK for at least 7 years I think? Glad HK residents are cashing out though lol, I'll need to tell Terry to go collect some cash 😂.
When you became interested in learning Mandarin, did you do pin yin first? Or did you go straight to Chinese characters? I have Rosetta Stone app, and a disk. The disk offers both Pin yin, modern Chinese characters and Ancient Characters. But the App only Modern. Do you recommend skipping Pin Yin? Or?!?
Definitely start with pinyin first-- learn the intials/finals and pronunciation. Even Chinese children start with the pinyin, I wouldn't skip it! It's the only way you can look up Chinese characters and know how to pronounce them. Every Chinese course I've participated in that started with the basics goes over pinyin.
It’s pronounced like “temz”. It’s the river that passes through London, as well as several other places. I have no idea how we came up with that pronunciation!
