God blessed us when he put a guitar in this man's hands.. He's given us nothing but fantastic music all of these years..and he's not done yet.. I was fortunate enough to be on the front row at Dean Smith Center @ Chapel Hill..again 20 years later in VA,, nosebleed seats.. both shows were fabulous..and well worth the money..Thank You Ticket Master..
The riff after the silence...guitars turn into bells on a great Cathedral...calling us to pray to a God we finally knew for sure LOVED US !!! Tom in Utica
This is one the best out together bands ever! This was only gonna be a two week engagement in England. It ended up being two years.........that says a lot!
@@guitarman8462 He co wrote it with George Harrison, as they were writing, Harrison had written "bridge", for obvious reasons, Clapton couldn't read his writing. That's how the title came about
@@justinrippon2218 that's been a known fact for a long time. He said he read it upside down . And yes , I know that the bridge came from Harrison. That's also a known fact for any Clapton or Harrison fan
it's so brilliantly beautiful.... and then the little melody fraction that ought to be known by every human being, because it has got the essense of something common human and yet bigger ....... agree billdapony, it really brings tears to the eyes..
My wife to be & I made a practice when we first met to have a glass of orange juice in a hand thrown cup and watch the sun come up together as the original Badge played in the background.. great song.. and this version is Clapton at his best... the light goes on & on.
This is great to see. I saw this tour. I have also seen the recorded concert for this tour about 10,000 times. Collins is my musical idol. He is usually over rehearsed which takes away some of the feeling in his playing. This is a unusual performance where it does not sound so "thought out". Pretty rare and interesting. Keyboard tones suck. I really liked the 4 of these guys together. I do not think Collins slept in this era. 85'through 87' he WAS the hardest working man in showbusiness!!!!
Clapton is one of the blues guitarist that who knows ancient blues roots very well and able to cover them in his own style... He has a style, thats what it makes him great. And he looks like every guitarist's father :D
I also LOVE that song and agree that it's the guitar riff that is the thrill. i read my comment and wondered why I commented that "it's the silence that gives one the thrill" ... it's the combo I have no flood of memories with people, just floods of memories of that song. it's gorgeous.
What went wrong why cut this vid so abruptly. Clapton is the BEST!!!!. And he`s so hot!!!! the hottest guy on a stage ever. Never mind if he`s all sweat, a great artist is like a god, they don`t have flaws
Algo qué jamas se volverá a ver....2 gigantes del rock y el pop juntos El gran Phil Collins en batería. Y Eric Clapton en guitarra..los mejores años de la música sin duda los 80..
i have seen EC TWICE OMG!!!! any time i think of it i get excited i hope to fill his shoes some day, . .i know that that is a tall order, but my heart is in it, i know i wont be the best but igot the blues and i want the whole world to know
Yes guys that is Nathan East on Bass. Nathan also has a lot of bass videos on youtube. Check them out and you will see that it is Nathan Himself playing bass with Eric Clapton in this video.
I heartily agree with "And when the guitars start up after that silence, it brings tears to the eyes." I don't quite understand your comment "It's one of those songs you one day realize has always been there throughout your life." care to explain more?
it's your opinion, i understand.. but what makes hendrix style of playin special, besides his style that was, as we call it now, 20 years too early.. was it the LSD?
Is it just me or does Clapton look better now then he does here. Sure he was still qutie the drinker & all , but father time seems to have been good to him.
