I agree lol whats done is done, he cant undo his children even if he decides to be with one woman. Because techincally hes not actually legally married to both women. All in all its cool hes seeing the light and trying to help all the ones he loves not just himself.

You don’t have to stay married to someone to take care of them and your kid. If you were brainwashed into marrying someone then it probably wasn’t for love, so thinking you have to stay with them after leaving the cult is just sad because he’s still somewhat brainwashed. I guess you can’t expect people to get better right away, but it’s hard to commend a situation so tragic.

@@spacewaste2459 Just because you are forced to marry someone doesn't mean, that you don't love them. It can totally be possible that both is the case at the same time. Not every forced marrige is unhappy, there are always eceptions to the rules.

The second wife is not legally married-and his name does not appear on the birth certificates of those offspring. The second wife and kids are eligible for government benefits as a single unwed mother.

The funny thing is that I asked my African studies professor, he was from Kenya, could a man marry two sisters? He said they could but they would be thought of as "those weirdos!" He explained that once you marry someone their family becomes your family and all of her siblings are your real brothers and sisters and marrying your wife's sister is like incest! They did not seem to mind and were going to continue living as a family like that. (Of course we do not know how they felt about it at the start. Probably not so thrilled). I think it would be far more harmful to separate them now. For kids this is all they know. Consenting adults know that they can genuinely choose once they have decided to leave the cult. Respect for the father for removing his family out from harmful environment.

You forgot their religion is much more different than christian (due to their religion is promoting polygamy). They living by their own religion until he realize something wrong in that religion. He still in polygamy because he can't leave them behind just like that, he already live with them in long period of time before he make this decision and beside his wives seem depend on him as much as his child need. From what I have heard, the law is not able to get involved in many cases since the people argue that it is their religious culture to marry off children and groom them, etc... of course, they don't say it this way but I agree it is grooming and everything else you said. I have also heard that members of these cults/religious communities get involved in law so their manipulation is in the government as well. But again, this is just what I have heard since I do not live in the area of any of these places.

Just off the top of my head... 1) Local government is often part of the community. 2) Someone has to be willing to testify. 3) We have presumption of innocence, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and due process in this country. As awful as it is in cults, taking away those rights is worse. 4) The cult often has economic influence in the city, county, etc. 5) The cult often has militias. 6) People in general don't want to believe the world is that bad. "A few bad apples" and all that. 7) Much of what they are doing is not illegal. For example, in some states, a 12yo can marry with a judge's permission. Polygamy is illegal, but having a mistress isn't. As long as they are not defrauding anyone by claiming legal rights and privileges for married people, I don't see how they are breaking the law. 8) Many Christians find some aspects of the cults' teachings attractive. "Family values" and whatnot

Well not everybody is YOU. Some women(and men) are willing to share and actually enjoy sharing their partners. Polyamory is a thing, hon. I think the bigger problem is that these women don't get to choose. They're forced into this. It's the lifestyle they were born into and have to continue to follow if they want to stay with their family. I know it's weird, but I'd think being a sister wife with someone that I already know and trust and grew up with instead of having another strange woman come into the picture would be a lot less stressful, but I'd never put myself in this position in the first place. In the end, if they leave and they find out that they want to split, then being away from the cult will make it much more easier to choose. While in the cult, they have to stay together and it's usually forced upon them to stay together, but if they leave, those women will be able to leave if they so choose. I don't think Jesse is against polygamy, I think he's against FORCED polygamy. I also think he cares more about keeping his children and in extension, keeping his children with their mother's. I think he's thinking more about his children than he is about himself, and no child should have to be forcefully taken from their father who loves them, nor should they be taken or separated from their mother's who love them.
