I agree. She's so sweet and loving to her son eventhough the order says she should reject him for leaving. I wish they could have gotten her out too. But it's clear she's very brainwashed.

his mother made me want to cry bc of how she was so hopeful and her saying she would wait 20 years to be invited back is just😢 I really hope she finds a way out and that Issac can some day have the strength to help her

It's a trigger for him. Unfortunately when that happens your mental state goes straight back into your abusive past and your bodily senses roleplay the worst of your memories in real time. PTSD is replaying the worst of your past in present situations spurred by a trigger that reminded you of that moment. It's like being stuck in time and you're reaching for everything you got to subdue the chaos in your memory and the reactive fear pulsating inside you. I hope he finds safer grounds to settle emotionally and spiritually. He seems like such a good guy.

Woah seeing how his mom is so brainwashed was very interesting & insane! A whole different world they are in. But the way his moms face lit up when she saw him was so precious.. too bad that’s all she knows.

I ended up having to go watch the full episode and he told her everything and she basically refuses to leave/accept it and is in the process of trying to bring him back into the church. its honestly so sad to see how brainwashed she is. you could tell he wanted to tell her how evil he is but couldn't break her heart.

That was heart breaking to watch. What that cult does to people is beyond, ruins lives, and tears families apart. Watching her son run from her like she was brandishing a weapon was so telling, it's all consuming. That poor family, that poor woman, that poor son.

I live in Kansas. About an hour and 15 minutes away from Wichita. I see 3 or 4 polgismst women shopping everyone once in awhile. I want to go up to them so badly and have face to face conversation.

It's sometimes easier to talk to them when they are alone and don't have the pressure of their sister wife to deal with. They might tell on each other.

I live in Wichita and haven't seen any polygamists here. Do you mean Amish people? They look alot like the FLDS in dress and such but the hairstyles are very different. They have a large community about 45 minutes away from Wichita in Yoder Kansas.

That happens when you talk to someone who caused you trauma it’s a lot of pressure and it’s possible to resort back to the feelings from before. It’s better if they don’t talk to the family at all I think 🤔❤️

I think these stories are scripted. The mom's first questions should have centered around "how did you find me? how did you get here? what is your motive behind this? who helped you" I believe she talked to him prior to this meeting and the scene was set up to be dramatic.

James Anderson I agree but I also think that they did have that part of the convo but they didn’t show it because they probably shared some intimate info.. if you see how they stand later on they look like they had been talking for a few minutes and it looks very chopped in editing which an scripted show wouldn’t do to that level

The term "Escaping Polygamy" is a false mindset. Polygamy itself is not an evil thing that needs escaping from. I can see "Escaping the FLDS" or escaping abusive treatment and abusive people, but just polygamy alone makes no sense. The fundamental problem is the Mormon practice of ignoring the Bible in favor of the Book of Mormon. There are about 30 examples of polygamy in the Bible. The people who live in Centennial Park seem to make polygamy work for themselves just fine. Nobody is trying to escape from there. There are even instructions in the Bible on how to treat a second wife with equity and kindness. The problem is Mormonism, not polygamy!

Some of the dresses the girls wear remind me of the dresses I wore as a little girl in the 80’s and 90’s not ankle length though most were knee length. I will say this I do like the dresses because they have a cute 19th century vibe thing going on. I hate everything else about the group though, but I don’t mind the fashion style.

If you like the 19th or 18th aesthetic, you should get into lolita fashion. It is a fashion community that dress in reference to Victorian and roccoco fashion with dash of cuteness to it. It fun and I love wearing the fashion.

Peyton Rowan Polygamism in this case is when there is multiple wifes in the marriage to one man. This series is about people escaping the FLDS „church“ - a cult that practices polygamy.

some parts might be redone or re-enacted but the real message here is that this is happening, a lot of times they make the girls marry very young so they can't run away like 13, so they have kids and it makes it harder for them to run away. and before you say that's illegal they live in total isolation so they don't have to worry too much about the law!

it shines light on a very serious subject even if it's fake or reacted. we as a country need to do more about separated religious groups like the Amish,( not every Amish group but they do have many communities) and the flds community. they manipulate their followers and don't fallow laws especially the ones where they have to be 18 to marry women a lot of times in these groups are so separated young and married off around 13 so it's harder for them to run away from the community when they have children when they're older!!!
