Short video of the ESEE PR4 (Camp lore series) designed by Patrick Rollins of RANDALL'S ADVENTURE &TRAINING. The PR4 is Patrick's take on the classic "Kephart" using modern materials. The knife features 1095 carbon steel with a tumbled black oxide finish, Made by Rowen, Scalloped micarta scales, Full tang construction, 90° spine , High sabre ground blade, Quality leather sheath, And made in the USA. This is a great camp and hiking blade that is well designed for most light camp tasks.

Thats actually a really well built sheath . It very thick leather and the belt loop is stitched instead of a metal rivet. Many leather makers use just one rivet like with condor and also LT Wright sheaths. Thay rivet always stitches out and sometimes will detach. This is a simple design BUT kydex would be better and a thicker hamdle.

I feel this knife is still one of ESEEs best bargains in their product line. I've thought about getting the TKC G10 scales for the PR4 a couple times, But the stock handle works well. I wonder if they'll offer this model in S35VN and different 3D scales too?!? Thanks for watching

I've been looking at the JG5 (SMKW exclusive ) and JG3 for a few months now....The camp Lore series has some nice blades. Cool video

Hi there I was wondering if your gonna do an update on how the ESEE PR4 is holding up and your final thoughts of the blade as a woodcraft/survival knife? I’ve been seriously looking at buying one

Hi Phoenix I've used the knife this desert season along with the Bark River Kephart ! The BR has better handle ergonomics(I have XL-XXL Sized hands ) and cutting geometry IMO. The PR4 is definitely a great knife (50% cheaper then BR) and a good all around camp blade. I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up , Especially at the $100 dollar mark. Thanks for watching. BTW ESEE is coming out with a few fixed blades in S35VN (ESEE 3 and Zancudo ) for 2020.

I've really been looking at that Tops nessmuk . would it make a good general use companion knife? I don't skin large game that often so having trouble justifing buying it. Lol

Yes! They have thinner blade stock, So it's not for major batoning. But it has such a versatile blade shape that it definitely makes a great option for an "all around " camp knife. My daughter, Who is a multi pitch climber, Ended up with my Tops Camp Creek. She camps at least twice a month and uses it constantly. Thank you for watching
